What's not to like clean polished boat with new engine and prop! Woohoo! Glad we heard it running! Welcome to the Y club! The turbo and intercooler doubles the power of the normal 4JH it seems. The weather is improving down here in SA so we are looking forward to cruising in about four weeks. We need Dee to do some sewing on our bimini and cockpit cushions! Happy to pay in Bacardi 🤣🤣
Thanks David, we are really pleased with the end result. Great to hear you are about to head off. Sadly for you though, Dee is always busy with plenty of projects of her own (inbetween snorkeling/diving/sailing/etc). 👍💕
Clean bottom , Folding prop = Speed & Fuel saving , I believe they give Volvos away in the EU , Make there money on spare parts LOL , Great choice of motor , Have you a sister that likes sailing ( Just kidding) great job on the hull & stripe ... Fair winds .
Thanks Bill, True about the clean bottom & feathering prop. Also true about the Volvo parts. Yanmar don’t miss you on some stuff as well. Their OEM fuel filters are extortionate. Thanks again for your kind comments.
At the Grau du Roi boat show, I saw very efficient electric mortars for this type of sailboat and in addition the batteries are recharged under sail like that the diesel tank can be used either for water or for heating. fuel oil
That technology is awesome & moving very quickly but I suppose I am more cautious in this decision making & go with proven systems. I wonder how a full electric system would cope with lightning. This was a major concern of mine given we sail predominantly in the tropics. Currently only a few miles from the equator & there have been lightning storms here every week. Still, I applaud that innovation where practical. 👍.
Hi, i am a new owner of a SM. The boat departure from Greece to Portugal and have the same Perkins engine has yours. I would love to talk to you about this project.

@@sailingjaygo very wise decision ⛵
@RokyPalmor Thanks Roky!
I didn't see a oil cooler on the transmission. An absolute necessity for that transmission!
Hey Kevin, it has the stock OEM cooler on the LHS of the transmission. All good.
