- “How many dining today?” It’s a question the hosts at Bella Vita asked customers waiting to be seated for an entertaining and fine dining Italian experience, but in the last year creditors and former employees demanding their paychecks would line up behind unseated patrons leading the hosts to ask, “How much does he owe you?”

that happens alot, by filing bankruptcy they get out of paying past vacay time, benefits, etc. i was a victim of this. a popular dining spot shutting down, its called mismanagement he had people working and not paying them? excuse me, file a complaint with the state labor board.

Odds are high that the employees remained there because they were earning enough tip money to kite them through the early days of this foolishness. Once dude started dipping into their tip money, then shit hit the fan pretty hard.

Nobody who works at a restaurant depends on that check, it’s the tips that pay their bills. No tips? No work.

It cost my spouse and self over 1k due to a business owners rubber paycheck that was issued to our daughter. We did not want that debt hanging over her head. She used a check cashing place. They wanted their money back. 😢 Nasty thing to do to anyone.

Something else happened. I don't know this man nor have I ever been to his restuarant. But his actions, movements and words he uses tell me he has picked up some vice or addiction. Why on earth would he decide now to build 2 other locations, when the money is so unpredictable. Perhaps he used the expansions to hide his real problem. What burns me up is when he refuses to pay the bartender...I may have that wrong...unless he had not allowed her to work, he might stand a chance. His threats, his lame apology, all sound like a cocaine or meth head talking. Let that be a lesson, if your boss can't pay you one paycheck, ok fine...anything after that, you report him and quit.

Some of these little restaurants are venues to launder money; poor accounting practices or simply wage theft. That is the reason that I rarely dine out. You never know what the food truly is and the examples of this "restaurant" using lesser quality alcohol or worse, swapping canola oil or cutting real olive oil with canola oil. Pretty sad. Can't people cook more at home using real ingredients?
Just take a look at the processed crap sold and brought in groceries including Whole Foods. It’s actually worse than restaurants. 70 percent adults are obese. 40 percent have pre-diabetes. It’s a national crisis.

Prior to filing bankruptcy he was teetering on wage fraud since he had funds but refused to pay employees for work they already performed; now he’s just an asshole devoid of anything approaching class.
