Spencer Brother; out of everything going on here and me being a total fanatic about this stuff even at this stage ( I am twice your age and could but well being alone I hv no plans of quitting and knitting sweaters) anyway ! I seen your little man there ! And I remember when that little guy had some let’s say hurdles? I just grinned from ear to ear seeing him! I always hope the good Lord just shinned on him! Really really glad you blessed us with his huge presence today! God bless you and your beautiful bride! Ok back to pounding it out! All I know & Church on Sundays!
5/12/23; hey congrats on yur new 'Transit' Van & those slick custom notched gray plastic floor & wall protectors...they look good! Now about your little helper in red shirt...eating popcorn...hey, a few little crumbs & greasy finger smears on yur new upholstery is , ya know, 'normal' it's what hungry helpers do! You do remember when you, 'waaay back when were a hungry helper...'LoL! Always enjoy yur channel. Beautiful craftsmanship & explanations. Stay safe & carry on!👍👍👏👏🔧⚙️✅️😊
Hey Spencer, Thank you so much for these van videos. I recently got a Sprinter van and been messing with it and almost ready to make the cubbies that the packout towers with dollies will be resting and secured to. Really appreciate all the info youre throwing out there. My van already came with that custom flooring pretty much like the one you got so its a huge plus. Gonna say it everytime i can but i love the ramp/packout dolly setup. ITS A GAME CHANGER.
I’m impressed. Very well thought out Spencer. As a retired union glazier, I have been working out of my crew cab f150 doing my vinyl railing business, that’s grown in three years into a five job a week, one man operation. I also dabble in minor finish carpentry and interior railing work. The disorganization is getting on my nerves. If I had an idea of the cost, I may take the plunge, just for the sake of calming my organizing OCD issues.😂
It's quite common, here in the uk, to say the heighth of something. and sometimes to truncate the to th', for example - "Hey lad what's th'heighth of that door" 😄 Thanks for posting great vids.
Great job on getting your van outfitted. Did you ever put anything on the upper part of the sliding door? I got a 2024 and I’m needing to put something on it. I did the rest of my liners like yours. Great stuff! Thanks for the video! Thanks
Spencer Great job looking fantastic and I would have done the same . Maybe be more expensive to look what you gained and in the long run we’ll worth the time and effort when you install the shelves. BTW great seeing you and your son doing the the father and son thing. But you need to put him to work on the van upfit so he can follow your lead . Great job
I just went to order a transit 350 medium roof. Ford has the eco boost motor, 12” screen, HID headlights, sliding door and several other options on provision and they said it could be years before I’d get a build date. You definitely got lucky finding yours
Spencer, Im watching this up fit series with great interest. I ordered a new Transit (350, extended, Eco Boost, plus other upgrades) 7 months ago. Ford allows just so many orders per dealer and little extra for dealer stock. Im certain Amazon/utility co van orders, pandemic/labor shortages, chip shortage all contributed to ruin this market for us tradesmen. In the meantime, Ive been on the hunt nationwide to find one on a lot, then cancel my order. If you do happen to find one online, many dealers are looking to get 10K over MSRP. That said, I'm going to keep waiting for my number to come up, pay full sticker with no negotiation. Im planning to set up my new van in a similar way so keep up the great content. Thanks for posting these resources. wes
If you can wait, you are definitely better off waiting right now. From what I have seem you will pay at least $5k over MSRP off the lot and even more like $10k over if its a rarer model with more bells and whistles.
hahahaha. your kid is hilarious! I look forward to seeing him working with you in 10 years on this channel. This is Van goals right here personally. Right now I'm in a little NV200 which is great but man how less cramped this would be for all of my supplies 😂 Great video though, as always. Wishing you and the fam well
Ordering the van with the factory installed finishes allows you to roll that cost into the financing and spread the payments over the long term, possibly at a lower interest rate. Purchasing items aftermarket requires that you pay in cash or another higher cost payment method with shorter terms.
@@InsiderCarpentry Is youtube the major source of income or less than what you earn throwing sticks at the wall? (Sorry that’s what we call finishing carpentry where I am 😂)
The one complaint about my own Van is that I opted for a non flat bulkhead. It really limits what you can put on that wall. I might switch it out when I go to a larger van in the future.
No they are the same distance but the flange for the door makes it hard to mount things on the wall in the back compartment. I have never once walked through that door so it was a waste of a feature for less functionality.@@ForeverSinz
Extended? I thought you had wished you had purchased your first truck without the extended version because it tends to bottom out on steep hills. What changed your mind?
I really like the set up but those upper cubbys are awesome man, I hide all kinds of stuff in those things lol, I would never cover those little guys up
Since plywood shelving and storage is going in, why the need for the wall panel protection at all? Sure, this will keep the interior paint absolutely mint … but i dont see what future buyer could possibly balk at some scuffs. I dont see that hurting your resale value.
"Doing it right the first time..." True craftsman's mantra.

He sure did. And thankfully has pretty much completely moved past those hurdles.
@@InsiderCarpentry in my prayers buddy! Doing a great job ; it’s what we do!
Has UpFit seen this? This should now be an option on their product page!
No kidding. Spencer's side hustle is being a product manager 😅

We can hear that you're so relaxed and happy when you're making these mods. Nice to see your new van. Congratulations.
When that’s finished, you are going to be so looking forward to heading out to work.
Nice to see your son "helping" you out.

Congratulations on the new van Spencer. Enjoy in good health.
Nice truck with all the space to put more stuff neatly and safely. Good luck with the new ride.
Thank you for sharing your van transformation
You work hard my friend congratulations on your new van!!!😊
Looking forward to more on this subject. Thanks. Rich in Florida
Always love the videos Spencer. Awesome to see your son getting in the mix as well!
If you can retrofit those pack outs with larger casters they will roll over obstacles more easily.

Great job, Spencer! Great eye for detail
Haha my kids like to sit in the front of my van when I'm doing work at home to.

What a cool kid 😊
Where did you get the screw caps for the self tapping screws?
Any thought given to insulate the cavities or maybe using some sound deadening materials floor etc
I've found once I get all my flooring and wall plastic installed it really quiets down. The partition is a must also.
@@InsiderCarpentry does your extended have the rear AC /heater option
where did you get that leather tape measure/pencil holder?

Looks fantastic !!! Expensive, but worth it
Your gonna need to install a popcorn holder
Looks like a great system - did you feel guilty walking on it with dirty shoes?
Very much so... LOL

I pay cash for everything and avoid interest all together as a general rule.
@@InsiderCarpentry Sure, that's a great policy. For those without cash reserves on hand, this is another option.

@@InsiderCarpentry I'm seeing that van priced around $75k on the East coast. Is that what they're going for in your area?

There is nothing like the smell of a new work truck. You better get rid of that with some good quality tacos. 🤣🤣🤣
Is that partition the deep version or standard?
Standard as far as I know.
Extended? I thought you had wished you had purchased your first truck without the extended version because it tends to bottom out on steep hills. What changed your mind?
I've never had an issue with the extended rear. No regrets.
I really like the set up but those upper cubbys are awesome man, I hide all kinds of stuff in those things lol, I would never cover those little guys up
My problem is I would fill them with stuff and forget what I had in them.
My son does the same thing in my van lol
Very nice!!
15:42 Use double-sided tape.
I believe pl will crack over time due to van movement I used lexel

If you throw a tool against the thinner side wall metal it will dent to the outside. That's the main reason.
How much was the van?
Way too much...
You Should’ve line-x’d the floor and walls and called it a day
