- This video walks you through my current van setup that took three years to design and build. If your a Contractor, Handyman, or just want some tool organization ideas for your work vehicle or shop this video is for you!
I started with a Mercedes 3500 XD Dually High Roof 144" van, and with some fairly simple boxes, slides and common size containers, I am able to pack a lot of things densely without a lot of wasted space by using common size tool containers.
Festool Systainer rails used in video - amzn.to/3STzN7Q
Just let me know if you have any questions or would like information on any tools or products shown in the video and be sure to follow me on Instagram @fultonfinewoodworks and my Son Cameron is on there as well! @Camscornershop

Am I the only one that fantasizes about going into the trades just so I can have a sweet van like this? It's gotta be so satisfying having everything you'd ever need organized and at your finger tips.
It was me as well, I always seem to be on the mission to have my dream rolling tool box, it's just taken a very long time to figure out what that was! It's a never ending process for sure, but I feel like I am figuring it out!
No mate your not alone😂👍
@@fultonfinewoodworkslol lately I actually find myself looking forward to my schedule slowing down to modify/organize my van… you did a beautiful job on everything
Thank you so much for this video. Super helpful and well-presented. Your time and effort is most appreciated!
I love the labeled trash can! Made me laugh out loud.
😂
Love how some will not know the story behind that, but those who know, know! Ha ha Thanks for watching!

I just caught up on the binge of the greatest woodworking podcast. I guess now I have to endure the pain of the off the wedge salad. 😆
I was about to complain about the Off the Cut sticker until you mentioned it was a trash can!
available on all streaming platforms 😂
Great Video ! So jealous of your van and how organized you are. That's where I want to be in future. Keep the great videos coming. Love the garbage can LOL #greensuiterspodcast
Thanks! It has been a process, a lot of figuring things out trial and error. Hopefully this will give plenty of ideas to others who are trying to figuring out a work vehicle design as well. I highly suggest the garbage can and I am sure I can get you one of those tables for it! Ha ha!
Absolutely fantastic set-up. Tidy and organised. Makes working so much easier and enjoyable.
Thank you, your so right, working is so much more enjoyable and easier when you know where everything is and not crawling over tools.
Im looking at pulling the trigger on a 144" wheel base sprinter and thus video sealed the deal, exactly what i plan to do. As a gc and own a rental property i so probably similar things so this set up would be almost perfect for. Great video and thanks for posting it.
So glad it helped, you can't go wrong with the 144, I still have plenty of unused space and it's a comfortable daily driver and very reliable?
Great setup. I had a similar van then changed everything from Systainer to Tstak to take advantage of the drawers.
So tedious (and expensive) to change but worth it in the end 😂
Thats is different level organisation, you're son wanting to work with you is class, keep up the good work 👏
Thanks, it's evolving into where I wanted it to be, takes a ton of time but well worth it! I am so excited about my Sons interest and look forward to having him half days during school next year! Thanks for watching!
Amazing van Ronnie!
Thanks for watching!
Very nice Ronnie and well thought out.Keep up the great work
Thanks so much!
Well done. I love my Sprinter. Wonderful seeing your son working with you.
Missed your comment! Thanks, it's great to have him working with me Friday he is out for the summer and my productivity is going to go through the roof!
Glad someone in this business has time for that ! That’s why I watch it as I am working? Entertainment !
It's a worth while time investment without a doubt but for anyone in the trades, the more busy you are the quicker the payoff in productivity savings.
@@fultonfinewoodworks your 100% correct! I hv begun to organize my van (my 1st van a Ford 3/4 ton 2021 w/a 10’ bed! ).
And I seen Spencer’s Lewis , Casey Knipps, and now yours! I think your #1 Casey is on your heals brother!
Then there is little old Kings Custom Finish Carpentry! But I am maybe a touch older than you and I am just having a blast now! I am ok (because Christ has blessed me) so I work because I enjoy working !
I can tell you love your work also !
finaly a van to dream about! i am bulding in my new ford transit van and i need the inspiration, thanks.
Awesome, glad you found it helpful. I love to watch others van tour videos, I always pick up great ideas as well. I helped a friend build out a transit, the sides are flatter which makes it a bit easier.
Great use of space! Wherever you go you got what you need with you. Nice job organizing this van.
Thanks, it's an ongoing process but each time I feel it's getting better
Absolutely top notch! This layout is based on real experience having to fix things on site and it shows in the variety of tools and equipment you carry. Really great video and top notch for work trailer/van layout.
Thanks Adam, it has been a lot of trial and error but I feel like it's getting there for now I work. Love being able to get most tasks completed without making multiple trips!
@@fultonfinewoodworks Ronnie every trades person is always updating their setup as new tools and techniques come in. I am always checking out other trailers and vans on site and looking at videos like this online. This is one of the nicest setups i have seen on youtube and your walkthrough is great. Honest about what you carry and why. I think Ron Paulk would be proud.
Beautiful van!
Thanks and thanks for watching!
thank you, I love it
Awesome setup! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Amazing 👏
Very impressive! It seems like you love products made in Germany
Your correct, it wasn't long ago that I realized that! The Germans make great cars and tools for sure!
Great tour, very well organized.
Thanks!
That is a great video, I’m planning to do a tour of my mobile wood shop and I got some great ideas from yours thanks. I do have a couple short videos on my trailer
Glad it was helpful! It's a always changing process for sure but every change makes it better, I love to watch tour videos for ideas as well for ideas. I encourage you to put it out there and let me know when it's posted!
I didn’t even know festool made some of the stuff you’ve got
great van . you cannot beat having everything organised. i love having a dedicated bin as well. mine is just an ikea bin mounted on a 3d printed bracket. total game change having somewhere to put the rubbish as its created.
one thing i think you need is some kind of pull out shelf to put those organisers on while you look for something
A place to throw all those little things that make the van look junky is so handy but it took me a while to figure out it's worth dedicating a spot for it . I totally agree about the pull out shelf, it was on the list but in the last three years I haven't yet felt like it was worth taking the time to add. I think it is because I usually am taking the entire systainer out with me and if it is a small part it's a drawer type systainer, but there are times it would be handy.
looks like you put the wrong sticker on that trash can haha
I am just glad I finally found a great purpose for that sticker, Off the cut podcast is not only available on all streaming platforms, it is a great way to label things as trash 🤣
Great setup !!! Love the mercedes van !!! Alot higher than the Ford !!
Thanks!
How do you manage random screws/fittings etc from your pockets etc?
Do you sort them immediately, or have a place to put them ; and then sort this place once every so often?
This particular issue is the bane of my life. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the van tour, this will help loads of people.
What’s the worst part about parking a van with a bunch of Festool tools outside? Having to look out the window every 30 seconds. Cheers hope you have a good alarm system. 😄
It's for sure something that has to be taken in consideration, I regularly see some using trailers full of tools on job sites, that scares me more. My Van is either with me during the day or in the shop at night which helps in my specific situation.
Very nice, so in your shop you have duplicates of what is in the van? Not sure i could afford allthe same tools in the shop and the van. But i want it! Hey ronnie what style/brand of boots are you wearing!?
I do have duplicates of a lot of things, there are some things I use in both places. I can park in or next to the shop depending on the weather so I can easily grab whatever, it's like a storage closet. They are Ariat boots very comfortable.
What the load bearing on it. I see the sys Vac. What about the Festool Table saw (battery version).? Can the sysrack carry that load?
I am not sure of the exact load rating but I have every type of weight in mine including the table in the bottom middle for a year and no issues, it's very strong
@@fultonfinewoodworks thanks mate! ill give it a go (but on valchromat) - the colored MDF.. or HDF really.
Where did you get the plastic brackets that fits the systainers from??
amzn.to/3uzazT9
Do you like the battery vac? The low run time not a problem for you?
It has its place for clean up and smaller jobs I do keep a corded vac on board also so I have a choice
@@fultonfinewoodworks and for the guy like me that can only afford one which out of the 2 do you suggest to get? What vac do you use the most corded or cordless? Thanks for replying
What are your thoughts about using a Ram Promaster 3500 ? It seems the sides are more plumb ?
Promaster 3500 and Transit are both candidates for a nice work van. I helped a friend outfit a transit and it had fairly straight side wall as well. I had an express 2500 before my sprinter, it worked fine but main thing was I wanted something that I could stand up in. My favorite thing about the sprinter is it drives like an SUV and is comfortable.
@@fultonfinewoodworks I do stair hand handrail installation. I’m going to set it up somewhat like yours. Do you think a 2500 would also be sufficient instead of a 3500 ?
Without a doubt would be fine, one of my reasons for going with the 3500 was my intention to turn this into an Adventure Van in the future and building on the 3500 will allow for more weight. A drawback for sure are the larger wheel wells on inside but my aisle in wide enough for everything I have needed it for
@@fultonfinewoodworks cool. Ty
Use a fedex style van ,with a power tailgate.
Holds 16 ft moulding and takes up less space then a truck and trailer.
The American centrotec set is a joke compared to the euro version. Can you please talk to Sedge and company about getting the real set stateside?
How is if different? I am not familiar?
576804 Sys3 m89 Installers set in metric is the current one. Last time we got a variant of this was set # MO700 with the zobo forstners about six years ago. (T loc era)
What apron is that?
@leatherbydragonfly
What are the pants your wearing?
Blaklader they are great, plenty of pockets, durable and built in knee pad pockets
Trash properly labeled 😂
Love that so many people picked up on that little dig to that other podcast! Ha Ha
This is not real,,,where is all the packout!!!??
I do have the Milwaukee pin and finish nailer in one of the Systainers, does that count?
