I'm loving this series. Considerung moving "up" from Micro Crawlers into my first 1/10 and I love the Gen8 V2. What I absolutely LOVE about this series is, that it shows how much can be done without spending a ton of money. If you look around it seems so easy to spend hundreds of Euros (or Dollars) on mods for any good crawler. Instead you shared some neat shop tricks and very smart solutions. Thank you so much.
Glad this is helpful! Yes - the Redcat Gen8 is a very under-rated crawler! Such a good deal for the price, and performs so well out of the box - and even better with a few cheap mods. If you decide to buy it - feel free to ask questions along the way!
Thanks for the video. I finally got what this shock keys do ) started the hobby in November, got my first crawler a month ago. Had no idea what that shock incline does, before this vid. Also have green gen8
Very cool, and not something I would have considered before seeing this. My concern has been high-centering, so I am wondering how this affects the truck getting caught on obstacles?
Interesting note: I have not really had issues since lowering all of my trucks. Yes, the belly is truly lower, but the truck overall has better performance. Especially once you also add weight to the front. One of the worst things you can do to a crawler is raise it up!!!
I am glad you did this, I have been tossing it back and forth whether or not to use those keys. Did this make the truck more stable? Great video, great info!
@@RoadsideRC I do understand your concerns about turning radius. But what is "high-centered"? You mean the high center of mass? Is there a way extending WB can influence that?
The shocks are meant to be very soft. That helps it perform. Any torque or weight imbalance then will create a lean. Using the keys like in this video, and reducing the height of the truck will help.
@@RoadsideRC I can't use those because I don't want to cut on my rc and removing the fenders is not an option it is the only thing to hold my body on mine doesn't have body post

Someone recently suggested these to give my rig even more droop!!!!! Thanks for great video!!!
This is exactly what I needed to watch!
👍👍🍻
Great!
I put them on all of my crawlers.

Awesome - glad this helped!
It does looke better with that drop in it. Nice mod, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Amazing how much moving the shocks helps
Simple tweaks are sometimes the best!
Sweet RC. Great explanation. We are stopping by to support with a full view. Stay connected

I believe it made the truck better overall. Plus, it is super cheap, so easy to try out.
My gen8 v2 shows up tomorrow
Great! Such a good truck.
Make sure to ask if you have any questions - I'm happy to help!
New friend from morroco
Thank you!
Great upgrade bro!
Would it still work with a shock flip mod?
Yes, it should be just fine with it flipped also.
Like your approach a lot. Did you consider extending wheelbase for better approach and departure angle?
I did!
I was concerned about making the truck too long - negative for turning and high-centered.

have you tried two stage foams for those tyres because the foams break down to nothing in the future
I have replaced the stock foams before. Forgot which ones I went with.
Does the center of gravity being lower help the truck be more stable?
YES! Make it much better for all forms of climbing - keeping the truck from tipping over as easily!
Mine leans to one side and nothing I have done stops it, either the body is too heavy or the shocks just suck

nice mod. is the wheel size 2.2?
It is the factory 1.9" wheel.
You must be in Canada? Inches
Ha! Nope - USA.
@@RoadsideRC How many pounds did the Truck and upgrade kit cost? Can use a conversion chart like the one for mm to inches
why not just remove the springs like we do on micros.
Then the truck will just flop over on a hill - really doesn't work well.
