    Love those overdrive gears! They make a huge difference!

      They sure do! Now if only Treal made a set that was spherical cut, but no an overdrive, I would throw it in the rear dif for sure. I really like the contact pattern with the way they are machined and would love to see that kind of engagement on the rear ring and pinion.

    Should do these videos more too, with the fpv content! I would love to see some scx24 mods

      oh man, this takes me back, lol. I loved building these trucks....but content about them gets sooooooooo expensive. All of the parts are high priced, and eventually the rigs just cost too much to be trolling around the trail with. Maybe some day I will take them out for a few runs and break something worth fixing on a video, lol.

      @@BarbarisII lol, I don't think I could stop if I was forced to. FPV has seriously been all I wanted to do for the past 14 months and I don't see that slowing down any time soon. Gotta bump up those upload stats man!

    My driveshaft retention bolt 🔩 got striped (may had locktie on) I can't remove it I was upgrading to aluminum axels. Does the pinion an bearings come out without removing it ???

    • @BaconNinjaFPV
      @BaconNinjaFPV  3 роки тому +1

      unfortunately, no they do not :( you have to remove the pinion by pushing it back through the hole which requires the drive shaft to be disconnected. I picked up a small helical bolt remover kit for just this use case! Also, if you apply a little heat to the head of the bolt with a soldering iron (basically until you can feel the heat on the other side of the bolt) then it loosens up the loctite and significantly reduces the chance of stripping them.

      I always use my soldering iron to heat the bolts that have thread lock. Heat will release blue loc tite.

    the pinion gear has a lot of slop and the redcat grub screw does not fit i stripped it it is my first treal product and it sucks

    Have a look at helical gears videos. Basically, rcs are not designed for them and you're risking major parts wear and possibly complete failure of housings. No thrust bearings in rc's axles

      @BaconNinjaFPV  3 роки тому

      Very true! There is a potential that the linear force could prematurely wear bearings after installation. Good news is that since the Gen8 is geared low, has portal axles, and uses three bearings per axle side it will be far less likely to happen. In this particular installation, the linear force is stabilized with an oversized bearing holding a steel gear and capped with the brass portal housing. There isn't any horizontal play to speak of in this scenario so the linear bearings are well stabilized.

    Never replace only one ring and pinion in a real 4x4 truck or you will shatter your transfer case, if both driveshafts are still on.. 👍😁
