the problem is the residents not necessarily the HOA. So many refuse to pay for repairs when they occur so they kick the can down the road until it's a massive problem. Preventing a problem is easier than fixing a problem.
By the photos they obviously used incorrect materials around the windows that press board is crap its like sawdust and glue under pressure and it literally acts like a sponge. Low bid im guessing.
This is a Republican state with a Governor and State Senators endorsed by trump. What do you expect? Republicans deregulate everything they can, that includes inspections on homes being built. You leave the hen house to the foxes then wonder where all the hens are? There’s a reason why we need regulations. Someone needs to protect the hens!
All these guys deserve what they getting to be honest, when you buy a home and it’s in a HOA that’s not really your home, you’re just a renter. So if these renters want there “houses” fix they should pay all the damages and costs. Let it be a life lesson. HOA stand for Homes Our Assets, not home owner’s association, Lol your “home” never belonged to you in the first place.
I’ve lost count of the stories of poorly built new homes in Utah. Then a builder “prevails” in the courtroom leaving these HOA owners stuck with the bill. Buyer beware prevails, not justice.
I’ll you need to open bid this job? 30k per unit sounds on surface to be to high. As if this is the same attorney firm who tried to sue our builder they purposely inflate the damage for settlement reasons.
Yeah, that’s corporate builders getting protected by corrupt government. Not sure what home owners expect these days. A well constructed home expected to last months? Lol
The HOA really has nothing to do with having to repair damage, the joint financing through the HOA actually may help people that couldn’t pay the full amount immediately. If this was an individually owned house the owner would still have to pay for repairs.
So OVER the YEARS…NO ONE did ANYTHING to mitigate the damage??? BRILLIANT!!!
residents kicked the can down the road until it's a total mess

These kinds of problems never happen on well designed and constructed homes.
Looks live a newer build. New is not always better. Really tough situation.
Vote the HOA out and get a new HOA.
That won't fix the houses

Builders in Utah SUCK! Build CRAP and have little responsibility. Not surprised HAMLET HOMES is a part of this. Follows suit with their track record!

Not true these are condos or townhouses, single family houses in HOA’s are individually owned.

Insane 😢
It’s still crazy we pay over 200 dollars in HOA fees in Utah.
Our HOA did the same thing added special assessment to our regular HOA, it was about 30K as well. End up selling the unit.
Holmes homes has been sued few times in court and in Ontario, Canada.
