laertesdd i believe he did more like old school stuff ( hey dude, why no andy larocqueish neoclassical passages?) and in the end it just got a little boring. There was no development and tech variation in the solo, it just felt all the same way. What do we like the best in maiden solos? Player changing, when dave's fast legato is being replaced by adrian's more blueasy and experimental approach. This performance reminds me of a time i saw zakk wylde live, he was all plain boring, jackin his guitar off for 15 mins straight. Anyway, Sim, you tried hard. Keep up the good work and greets from a fellow King Diamond fan :)
Who else wold love to see a bunch of people who’ve never played guitar ever get coached by some legends every day for a month and then have the new players face off to see who is the best?
Sim Diamond also despite the fact you didnt get to go the final, I really liked/loved your experimenting and searching the harmonics with the over under technique, man it makes me think directly of MAB and Tom morello. Well done, never the less the fact you didnt get to play final. You still rocked! I wouldnt be able to even play to things less sloppy if I amped/PED'd my hands man. Those few faults imho dont undermine the melodics and possibilities found! Rock on man! The over under thing would make me give a whole figure more at the scoreboard lol. Its just epic af!
holy damn, Sim was like a totally different player here! a backing track really brought him to a new level! if this dude just cleans up his execution a little he's gonna be legendary. frankie c is just in a different class
So... who else loves Sim? And who else thinks he did better? Sure,Sim has a few flaws, but he’s better than the first one and... if not,did more than the last one. Geez...
Damn I thought the guy that went home did the best, he came out swinging. That was insane, to bad he’s gone but the other guys have done better the entire time thus far
Sim got shafted in this episode, his composition was way better than Alex's! Yea he flubbed a note or two but at least he was shredding while Alex played mostly rhythm riffs! I was shocked when he scored so low! Rigged!
Advanced Form I agree, Frankie is the cleanest and most skilled, and he's been destroying the others in every round before this. But in this round, I thought he started off amazingly, but he lost me in the middle. I dunno how, he was sort of being repetitive and wasn't using much of the fretboard, whereas Sim had me the whole way with all his sloppy greatness.
None of the solos were that exciting. Frankie had the cleanest playing, though. I'd say Sim should have been 2nd. But he and Alex both had some slop (i.e. just pick fast and move their fingers around so it looks like a scale). Kudos to Sim though on the clean sweeps and the over/under technique (ala MAB).
For the first time I do not agree with the jury. IMHO Sim was the best in this challenge. Maybe not the best in technic to Frankie but I found the solo fitted better to the background track (it was more a part of it) and it was by far his best performance.
Sim also did better than Alex in my opinion. Sim overextendes quite a bit and has some really sloppy sweeps he is really adament in trying everytime. His tone is also very trebly and weak. Alex is all reverb and seems to be the one that has the least knowledge over the scales, modes and fretboard. His fast runs are quite unprecise and more akin to running his fingers fast over the fretboard. Sim's string skipping part was his best. If he had dropped the sweep attempt and his tapping he could maybe have made a more cohesive piece that would have made more of a impact. All in all I think Sim has delievered more solid performances than Alex in every episode.
Hmm, not sure how can you tell about texture and flair from Sim, when Alex did have mostly noise and tremolo picking techniques, just try to get as much as notes as possible, and those pick slides etc... Sim shown arpegios, several different scales, shred runs, melody, he was much much clearer than Alex on notes and technique. His only bad point was that he started immediately and didn't give himself some time to boost into song. Sim should have gotten at least 8.5 from each of the judges ...
I thought his was the most emotive and pretty unique. It had some sloppy parts but it wasnt bad at all and that shouldn’t generally define his piece. But in terms of technicality its pretty obvious who’s the best.
He did make a couple mistakes but so do the pros. Solos from show to show sometimes vary and nobody is perfect. I know its a competition so. Like I said judging is subjective. These guys are all pretty damn good
Sim's tone is the classic tharsh metal tone unfortunately thrash solo is meant to come fast and go fast (at least the way he started with just the pick slide build up) like thunder it is not meant to stay around. I loved Sim's solo at the beginning and from his face Alex did too... but unfortunately it was too long and the longer it got the tired I got of listening this excluding the little mistakes he did here and there towards the end. I prefer Sim's tone over Frankie's but Frankie's playing is on another level and had a better understanding of the concept of this challenge.
Funky Express, I agree Frankie is on another level. Since like the 2nd episode he's been my bet on winning. My favorite tone though has been Alex, he has a chorus or something and I like that sound a lot. It reminds me of Phil from Machine Head and of course Zakk Wylde, he doesn't play like either of them but his tone reminds me of their solo tone.
I like Alex. I think his playing is great as well, but he has a gainier thrashy tone and Frankie’s tone is just tighter. Again, that could also be clarity of playing. But Alex’s tone hurts him in my opinion
It's obvious this was all shot on the same day. Every episode should have atleast a day break so the guitarists can prepare and I think that will go a long way to fix some of the complaints this has been getting.
I personally think its better because its shot on the same day. It keeps everyone on their toes so their abilities can really be tested. I was pulling for Sim, but his playing felt disjointed here and a few of his bends were questionable. The other guys felt more polished.
Think about the production costs and the time Alex Skolnick had for the show. Of course there's gonna be a few misses given that this is a new idea and they are testing it for the first time. Im pretty sure that they are aware of the flaws and they will fix them if (when) they release new content of this style.
I'm not hating guys, just trying to give some constructive criticism. I don't disagree that budget is an issue and the first time will have some flaws.
Alex skates by with a crap tonne of gain, chorus and reverb to cover up his mistakes. Pretty sure Sim wouldn't have been eliminated if they all had a level playing field.
I’m certainly not one to critique any of these dudes. All three of them outplay the hell out of me. I’m just happy they did a series like this and hope they continue to do more! Awesome they got Alex Skolnick to judge!
Finally they used backing tracks! The challanges before this one could've allowed them to use backing tracks I believe they could have been so much better...
i can shred and I think to get on this show under that kind of pressure on a strange rig these guys are all warriors and got huge balls bravo to all of them!great job guys!
These last 3 are all kick ass guitar players. So some days you might be off and judging is pretty much subjective. Sim came in 3rd but that dude is a bad ass on the guitar. This is a great competition!! I'm glad I found this channel to be able to watch it! All 3 of these guys are winners on the guitar!
im really really sad to see sim go, he was probably my favorite out of them all. but, thats just the nature of the game. id love to see more of him sometime. great stuff.
Would have been nice to see Sim and Frankie go at it for the crown. I think the creativeness of Sim's melodic playing would have given him the crown. Would love to see more episodes. Hoping I can enter the next contest. I wonder if they would take a older guitarist? One could only hope!
With consistent practice of around 2-3 hrs a day with a metronome and backing tracks, I guarantee you'll surpass most of them within 3 years of playing. Especially if you're a younger guy. The key is to do it right from the very beginning and not to rush it..notice how most of the contestants can't even stay on beat..
Maybe its the beer.. But can i please be a judge on this show. Sim should have won. Love Frankies tone! And Alex's attack, but as far as flow. Sim won.
To me, Sim's harmonic and melodic ideas and transitions were the most creative and beautiful.
thank you very much :D follow me on FB and Instagram if you like melodies :P
Sim Diamond
Will do, sir! 😉
Greetings from Berlin/Germany.
Bien joué, mec ! Continue comme ça !
laertesdd i believe he did more like old school stuff ( hey dude, why no andy larocqueish neoclassical passages?) and in the end it just got a little boring. Frankie C is definitely the best out of the whole series.
Matt Solegod That's what I said since the first challenge.
And he has the best tone!!
Best guitar player in Toronto if I had to choose
Matt Solegod
Dude was off-time most of this challenge.
Sim has the keys to the Lamborghini
chito speed kills :D
LMAO
hueahuea dude! kkkk
So happy to see this as a comment xD
He tried to take it around the block.😉
Who else wold love to see a bunch of people who’ve never played guitar ever get coached by some legends every day for a month and then have the new players face off to see who is the best?
thats a really good idea...
I could also see a Jr. edition of this working well. Shredders of Junior anyone?
Okay... might want to work on the name.
That sounds like an expensive production though.
Yes, that would be a great way to get some Young shredders some notoriety. The is in great need of that
I'm truly LOL
with your comment hahaha
TEAM SIM!!!
:D ! follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it!
Sim Diamond will do
Sim deserved to stay
hey David, i'm on FB and Instagram if you liked it! :) But thanks!
Sim Diamond whats your ig?
Win sum, lose Sim, was saddened!!
Sim Diamond also despite the fact you didnt get to go the final, I really liked/loved your experimenting and searching the harmonics with the over under technique, man it makes me think directly of MAB and Tom morello. If over under technique isnt shred I dont know what is!
holy damn, Sim was like a totally different player here! a backing track really brought him to a new level! if this dude just cleans up his execution a little he's gonna be legendary. frankie c is just in a different class
wow thanks Michael, that means a lot to me. follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it! :)
So far only one I've seen get a smile out of skolonik
I hope you were trolling...
Sim is the man!!!
Thanks man, follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it! :)
Sure
I think this is my favorite episode so far. Balls to the wall! 🤘🤘
Hamadelic Wizard Hell yeah! I’ve enjoyed the variety of challenges, but this is definitely what I came for
Sim deserves more!!
follow me on FB and Instagram if you want more :D
Sim Diamond dude! You were robbed!
In my humble opinion, Sim got robbed!
(IMO) Frankie deserve to win the competion, Alex deserve the second place anyway, but Sim OWNED this challenge.
thank you mister! follow me on FB and Instagram if you want
So... who else loves Sim? And who else thinks he did better? Sure,Sim has a few flaws, but he’s better than the first one and... if not,did more than the last one. Geez...
Thanks a lot! follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it! :) and HAIL BLACK METAL
man, I think you did better performance than all other players. I love your approach that is more honest and less effect loaded.
@@7CTAC thanks buddy ^^
Dude... Frankie C killed it!! Great job to everyone 🤘😈
King Slayer. King F...n Slayer !!!😈
Damn I thought the guy that went home did the best, he came out swinging. That was insane, to bad he’s gone but the other guys have done better the entire time thus far
Papa Billydeth I thought he did 2nd best... Shouldn't have gone home.
I think Sim did at least as good as Alex, if not better.
Sim has it all .. other than a mistake here and there .. his approach on shredding was way better than alex ...
thank you Ali, follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it! :)
come on mercyful fate shirt guy
Lunch Box to me that dude killed it
I dont know wtf were those 7 about
My wife and I really enjoyed the show especially leaning how we faired with the judges.
But Sim!! He’s so metal, whyyyyyy
its part of the game :P follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it! :)
Sim Diamond will do man \m/
Alex shouldve been kicked his tone and composition sounded like butt
Sim got shafted in this episode, his composition was way better than Alex's! Yea he flubbed a note or two but at least he was shredding while Alex played mostly rhythm riffs! I was shocked when he scored so low! Rigged!
Ray H he blew his load. Start slow then end it big. He was repetitive.
Apparently I don't know what great guitar work sounds like because I thought the second guy destroyed the other dudes. But what do I know.
frankie was the clear winner and it wasn't close. more variety, cleaner playing, more creative phrasing

I tink ur ear sucks the second one is the worse his playin is too sloppy,
Dale Coolbaugh nah u are correct it shouldve been alex
Team Frankie!!!
For the first time I do not agree with the jury. IMHO Sim was the best in this challenge. Maybe not the best in technic to Frankie but I found the solo fitted better to the background track (it was more a part of it) and it was by far his best performance.
Jurgen Driesen totally agree
thanks guys! follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it :)
Agreed
Sim's solo was way better musically than Alex's. I don't get you guys.
Thanks! follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it
TheAbsorbant alex is one of the judges friends im not surprised
And his name is Alex, maybe that swayed Alex Skolnick's judgement? ;)
Sim deserved a better score and imo, did a much better job than Alex. I dunno, felt a bit like he was robbed here.
wildly disagree. so much less texture and flair from Sim.
that said Frankie dominated both of them very soundly. we already know the winner.
Adithya Kiran totaly agree dude!
Frankie bringing those sweet harmonic minor tones!
Appreciation for hard work in whatever walk of life feels nice. Bravo to all 3 musicians!
i liked the second guy's (sim?) the best tbh
Ba'al Zagororth Lol Really. He is sloppy.
he made a couple mistakes, who cares, over all he sounded the best imo
That’s true, Sim was the best, if I were there, I would’ve give him atleast a 9.5/10.
These guys are all pretty damn good
I wasnt a fan of Sims tone before this video. It just sounded so good in the mix.
Sim's tone is the classic tharsh metal tone unfortunately thrash solo is meant to come fast and go fast (at least the way he started with just the pick slide build up) like thunder it is not meant to stay around.

This shred compitition is a great idea.
Frankie has incredible tone. Idk if that’s just from clarity from his fingers or if I just prefer the tone he uses overall
Ian Nolan clarity and precise playingb
yea probably a mix of both, his playing is so much cleaner than the other competitors
Victor Koekenbier I agree. But since this is the first season I'm confident those little things will be sorted out for the next competition!
Budget guys. I think for a youtube only production this I great. Remember only 140.000 subs and below 1 million views a month.
I personally think its better because its shot on the same day. It keeps everyone on their toes so their abilities can really be tested. I was pulling for Sim, but his playing felt disjointed here and a few of his bends were questionable. The other guys felt more polished.

Bravo to all the contestants ! They all played great
That show has hooked me! I loved It!!! Can't wait to see another season! Greetings from Brazil \,,/
My fav episode so far
Criss de belle job Sim! Aucune honte a finir dans le top 3!
Bien dis !
Merci Tom. J'suis ben content du résultat, c'était épique comme fin de semaine! suis moi sur FB et Instagram si tu veux :)
Félicitations man! Belle job!
Surpris qu'il ait été éliminé sur cette performance.
Great, great series.....
Alex skates by with a crap tonne of gain, chorus and reverb to cover up his mistakes. Pretty sure Sim wouldn't have been eliminated if they all had a level playing field.
That gain was so unbearable to listen to
Sim deserved to stay on this one. Yes he needs a little work but man he was shredding his ass of on this one and he deserved a better score.
thank you Daniel, follow me on FB and Instagram if you want :)
Best episode yet. Please make the whole show like this: Just let them go for a few minutes with a different song each episode.
This is the talent show I always wanted to see
All brilliantly talented guitarists. The last was spectacular and most articulate and creative. He is a beast.
This show keeps getting better!
Thanks for bringing this show to youtube...
Now THIS is the best episode so far. Amazing. Give them backing tracks we cried, gave them backing tracks you did.
This has been a very entertaining series. Would love to see more!
this was the best episode so far, NICE
I would love to see this with other all parts of metal.. Awesome series.
Guitarist #2 threw down his Mustaine tone and riffs... nice!
I thought that at times, too.
Skolnix is my favorite guitarist..Shedders and judges are greats..thanks for the show.
Happy for both these guys - they both definitely deserve to be in the final round. Good luck, Zubair!
The best episode by far
Sucks that Toki Wartooth got shredded
I’m certainly not one to critique any of these dudes. All three of them outplay the hell out of me. I’m just happy they did a series like this and hope they continue to do more! Awesome they got Alex Skolnick to judge!
Best episode out of all episodes....🙌🙌
Easily the best episode yet. That backing track makes everything.
The backing tracks make such a huge difference please keep them
Best episode yet
Really digging this series, guys! Great stuff
4:40 man i love this man. his guitar, tone, and style
The only thing bad about this show is its gonna eventually end...MORE PLEASE!
The best playing of the series
In my opinion the last one was a perfect combination of both styles from the beginning, man awesome technique
Finally they used backing tracks! The challanges before this one could've allowed them to use backing tracks I believe they could have been so much better...
Great improvement on the audio quality! Best episode so far! Team frankie ftw :)
please, please, PLEASE make a drumming show with this format. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF THE METAL GODS.
I have to say, the two remaining guitarists are both excellent with totally different styles. It’s a shame ‘there can be only one’!
Great episode. All players are really good.
i can shred and I think to get on this show under that kind of pressure on a strange rig these guys are all warriors and got huge balls bravo to all of them!great job guys!
best episode so far...was able to really see what they were made of!! 🤘😎🤘
4wolverines well said.
thanks guys, follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it!
Best show ever
Bravo 👏!!!!!!!!!!
Muy bonito ruido. Yeah that’s what’s metal music for!
Very Nice!!!!
My favourite episode.
Nice ending of the episodes 👍👍👍😊
Sim deserved more than that!!
im still on FB and Instagram if you want to follow me ^^
wow what a pressure cooker for these dudes....!!!! they all did admirably under much duress...!!!...
WTF the second guy was way better than the first.
And that's why a backing track is the shredder's BEST friend!
If you really did not edit their solos...
Frakie‘s playing is just AWESOME
I was waiting for this! Thanks for the great content, it really picked up recently!
Oh so talented 😄👍🏾
im really really sad to see sim go, he was probably my favorite out of them all. but, thats just the nature of the game. id love to see more of him sometime. great stuff.
thank you very much, just follow me on FB and Instagram if you want to see more man!
Would have been nice to see Sim and Frankie go at it for the crown. I think the creativeness of Sim's melodic playing would have given him the crown. Would love to see more episodes. Hoping I can enter the next contest. I wonder if they would take a older guitarist? One could only hope!
thanks you so much ^^ follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked what I do
Frankie is a Beast..... fluid performance. 9:22 was pretty good example of his transition skills. Almost perfect stuff!!!
best episode
je trouve incroyable de les voir s'exprimer dans leur element par rapport au episodes precedents
These dudes make me feel like throwing my guitars in the dumpster. They're all killing it!
Mike Stahl - I often feel the same way...but I still don't do it :-) . I just use it as inspiration to attempt to improve myself.
Sim Diamond! Genio! 👏🎸
Metalero Argentino 🤘🎸🍻
Sim Diamond You are a genius! You 're my winner! Bravo bro! Saludos desde Argentina!
Thanks a lot ! ^^ follow me on FB and instagram if you want:)
Sim Diamond Aguante Metallica!
FRANKIE C! WOW! solid from start to finish.
After Alex's performance i knew the final is going to be between Frankie C and him
They were all great to be honest
Sim! 🤘
Sim, robbed. Now I understand the “TV” at the end of channel’s name, seems accurate.
Woke up perfectly in time. Lessgo
my tips went in ... I had 2 favorites from round 1 and that was Franckie C and Alex ..
Franckie C will probably be the winner in the end
Maybe its the beer.. But can i please be a judge on this show. Sim should have won. Love Frankies tone! And Alex's attack, but as far as flow. Sim won.
thanks Erik, follow me on FB and Instagram if you liked it, and cheers!
Cool!!!
