- Hey everyone! Today we're exploring a red, black, and gold colour scheme with a moody watercolor crow painting. I'm using a palette of M.Graham and Daniel Smith paints (listed further below in the materials section), and a handful of metallic gold leaves.

Very well rendered, especially the crow! I was vastly amused by the reference to the Halloween season - the blood moon color mix as "ritual blood', the crow suggesting Poe's beautiful 'The Raven' poem - and all this with that delightful juxtaposition country serene scene music in the background. A suggestion regarding the gold leaf areas using an old Chinese technique: 1st underpaint the branch lines using a VERY bright red, let that dry, and then apply glue and afterwards gold leafing. The leaves are so thin that they DO let through undertones - giving dimension and richness to the gold color. Happy (?) Halloween! 🙂
i am going to swap out the black for a green, maybe a cool green, and re-purpose this for xmas :D thanks

@@boxesofsheep I feel like I don’t use it enough! I made a bunch of swatches in my sketchbook of it mixed with different colors, and love it, but never know how to incorporate it into actual work. 😂 I guess I just need to start with it, lol.
