D-L phenylalanine, Glutithjian, and Taurine. They call it the “holy grail”. 2 weeks in, no more cravings for sugar, alcohol, and I am weening off of Prozac for depression and anxiety. Mood has improved, energy increased and I am steadily improving my diet. I was very skeptical but I am one of those 40% who got immediate results. Brain fog has lifted which is amazing. I do take B vitamins and magnesium as well. Amazing results.

@@Cool_boy258 greetings. Once a day. (Supplement cocktail). Taurine has important functions in the heart and brain. It helps support nerve growth (which may be why it helps nervous system and diabetic neuropathy). I had to do my own research , investigate and come to my own conclusion. It's believed black seed oil works with the body in addressing brain issues which are the root cause of many brain symptoms, such as fatigue, brain fog, headaches, depression and anxiety. I realize we’re all different, but my improvement has transformed many aspects of my life. I do not dismiss the fact that I have increased my activity and stamina by integrating a walking program. That in itself was rather a miracle bc with clinical depression after my son’s death, my entire body was seemingly malfunctioning and I couldn’t motivate to get out of the bed. I am writing a book here…..but, if this helps someone, so be it.

i cant take anything that is lowering blood pressure (Taurine and Gluthation allegedly too), because i´m already that low . So, what would happen regarding your symptoms if you would only take L-Phenylalanin?
And does it have to be D-LPhenylalanin with the D in front?

I have to share this. After decades of depression from my teens and then a 5 year Fentanyl prescription,I quit on my own and committed myself to working out every other day. It's tough to not get knocked off track, but the results were dramatic. Endorphins are wonderful, and it rebalances your whole brain chemistry. Each workout, from the first time, exponentially improved me in every way,and after 2 years I was the happiest I'd been in decades. Much, much better results than Prozac.

It’s worth mentioning that if you try NAC, it’s good to pay close attention to how you feel for the first week or so. It can elevate histamine in the body which can make you feel pretty rough if you suffer from histamine sensitivity or a mast cell disorder. This can present as dizziness, vertigo, headaches, muscle pain, sinus pain, fatigue, etc. It’s a pretty rare problem but knowing it’s a possibility can save you from a bunch of suffering.

    • @DrTaliaMarcheggianiND
      @DrTaliaMarcheggianiND  3 роки тому +11

Hm, yes it can affect histamine pathways in a peripheral way and not everyone responds well to sulpher. but many people who suffer form OCD, etc have elevated glutamate, which NAC reduces. It mops up glutamate to make glutathione. if there are microbiome issues, then it might not be well-tolerated. a great reason to work with a practitioner who knows about this stuff and can use reactions as information, knows the correct dosing, forms, cofactors, etc. vs. just going at it alone.

Menopause induced mental health issues like depression, panic attacks, touretts like verbal tics are real. It's like post pardum depression multiplied by 1000. It totally sucks. Vitamin c, magnesium, b complex, lecithin granules, coconut oil has helped. Recently added l-glutamine, it is amazing, completely cleared away brain dysfunction. It was the last piece of the puzzle I was missing. ❤️

To help get off this med once my back was better I started taking a veggie based protein powder (not soy) (with a complete amino acid profile and with probiotics) as well as GABA and 5 HTP supplements. Thank you. I went gluten free and all my joint pain went away within 48 hours. I’m over 40 years old. Inflammation greatly reduced. I needed more B vitamins, magnesium, potassium rich foods such as greens 🥬 and salt (bone broth) in order to get past cravings. Ashwaghanda helped a lot. I felt guilty the first 5 weeks of going off gluten because I thought I just didn’t have the will power to stay away from it. But, I realized that it has an opioid-like effect therefore I had physiological cravings. It was not just mind over matter. It gave me a newfound ability to sympathize with those who struggle with “getting clean” from addiction.

Aw I'm so sorry to hear you've had the experience you've had. All too common in my patients too. It's so hard to feel that someone is invested in "getting to the bottom" of what's going on. And it's even hard for patients to know that there is a "bottom" to get to, or to find a practitioner with the skills and knowledge to do that work. A registered Naturopathic Doctor who has the 8-years of education (graduation from a 4-year accredited naturopathic college) is a good person to start with. Our entire education is related to combining medical knowledge with "getting to the root" and understanding the body and mind enough to know how to do this. Glad you found this video!

You're 100% right, sorry you can relate.
what sucks in my situation is that both of my parents were immigrants from Italy and both didn't come to America until they were adults, so they actually tried to raise me with more of an old school European mentality, using nature and food as medicine to heal the body and not relying on any type of man-made chemicals but unfortunately I fell into the American trap anyway and it almost destroyed me completely.

YOu will NEVER find an MD who will ever give information like this.. I've had doctors scoff at just the mention of supplements..
Medical doctors are trained to strictly cover up symptoms with medication..

Thinking just NAC...Tho I have been taking 1 vit D3 daily. Pensioner so no chance of affordable health support. I have tried to quit so many times but after about 10 days the neuro transmitter issue just gets too much to cope with. I have just got myself out of the initial withdrawal process again but this time I am going to using the upper dose of Tyrosine, 5HTP, L Theanine, Glutamine and GABA and DLPA. Essentially I have come to see that our internal chemistry is directly proportional to our spiritual being.
So many things we're asking God to fix in us, he does by restoring chemical balance within the body.
He has also ordained a path through herbs "given for the healing of nations"... And through the concept of transference of guilt to the person of Christ who was wounded for our transgressions and by who's stipes WE WERE HEALED!
Sometimes we just don't know what works but it is necessary to remember this pathway because it leads to life eternal

I have recently stopped taking L-Phenylalanine and L- Tyrosine together because LP turns into tyrosine. I didnt see the point in taking both. Any advice? I was taking 1000mg of LP and 1000mg of L-tyrosine daily. Moving forward, i will be taking just the tyrosine alone with 400mg of theanine and ashwaganda.

Grrreat Video!Got q questio you said instead of taking L-tryptophan you take 5HTP, so thtat you body don´t need to do this one more step.
I thought the same and also did the same.Rarely i take 5HTP. The same thought i had with dopamine, so i would take L-tyrosine, but from the experiences i heard, its btter to take the pre-precursor L-Phenylalanin. Because its more "effective"thats what they say. For getting tasks done and also for binge eating.
(i do have those sugar cavings, 2 weeks before period too but also after, but 5HTP seems to work really time limited because its absorption through the gut...a bit of food or coffee and it stops working)
NAC does also help with bing eating? So which one is better L-Phenylalanin or NAC? Or is there a eed to really take both?
Honestly if i can, i save the coin 😆but if you recommend, to take both, its god to know why and i can still think about it.
And L-gluthamin does also lower cravings? But how should i know which one i should take now?
Happy to have found you, awesome content. Hope to hear back! Thank you 🤗

Thank you for your comment! I typically recommend amino acids that are later precursors (fewer steps). But I recommend amino acids for very specific reasons after the proper foundations are in place or as a temporary hold to get someone feeling better, help with weaning off medications, etc. NAC is a mainstay in my practice for hormonal, anti-oxidant, liver and mental health! Phenyl-a and NAC work on entirely different pathways (one is dopamine supportive and the other is anti-glutamate/anti-oxidant support).

@@DrTaliaMarcheggianiND Just re-watched your Video! Glad i see your comment! YT hasn´t send a notification. Very good answer! I thought NAC is sitable for me too because you said it also helps with cravings, but from your comment above.... i think Phenylamin could be more beneficial for me. The common opinion about L-Phenylalanin is, it supresses hunger.
But its also in the sweetner aspartam. But why then aspartam makes thick?
"phenylalanine (PHE), a known inhibitor of intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP), a gut enzyme shown to prevent metabolic syndrome..."
What is true...does L-Phanylalanin makes us thick or thin?
And what do you thik of BCAA for fat burning/muscle recovery?

@@DrTaliaMarcheggianiNDI recetly found out i do have low blood pressure and thats why most supps arent working for me.
But i also have high cortisol and high TSH.
No matter what i´m taking i feel sedated : 5htp, ashwaghanda, rhodiola rosea, sometimes also reishi,
and good for surpressing my endless appetite but still sedating or in other words makes me want to do nothing and want nothing 5htp.
Macca makes me irritable as hell.
So i tried L-Tyrosine, with food same effect as 5htp with food: no effect. Without food: as all the other supps.. again sedating.
      What can i do?
i want to increase my appetite,
be more motivated , lightweight, happy, thoughtless,
want to lower my cortisol without lowering my blood pressure

@@madlenj.4644 Hi, Madlen, I can't give specific advice here, but with low blood pressure and high cortisol, it sounds like you might be cortisol resistant and stuck in a parasympathetic state. Dancing, shaking, cold water, licorice root extract (in the morning), methylated B vitamins, magnesium at night, and adding salt to water (to taste) would be the first things that come to mind to try--of course, best to sort out a strategy with an ND who knows the ins and out of your health history and can interpret your labs. 😉
