It’s worth mentioning that if you try NAC, it’s good to pay close attention to how you feel for the first week or so. It can elevate histamine in the body which can make you feel pretty rough if you suffer from histamine sensitivity or a mast cell disorder. This can present as dizziness, vertigo, headaches, muscle pain, sinus pain, fatigue, etc. It’s a pretty rare problem but knowing it’s a possibility can save you from a bunch of suffering.
Hm, yes it can affect histamine pathways in a peripheral way and not everyone responds well to sulpher. but many people who suffer form OCD, etc have elevated glutamate, which NAC reduces. With the Aminos, take magnesium and the b vitamins, edpecially Niscin. Then try Tapping and Havening too, they will dispel traumas, anxieties and depression. And don't forget affirmations. There are books on all these subjects.
Essentially I have come to see that our internal chemistry is directly proportional to our spiritual being. So many things we're asking God to fix in us, he does by restoring chemical balance within the body. He has also ordained a path through herbs "given for the healing of nations"... And through the concept of transference of guilt to the person of Christ who was wounded for our transgressions and by who's stipes WE WERE HEALED! Sometimes we just don't know what works but it is necessary to remember this pathway because it leads to life eternal

I watched your video very well explained on amino acids and how they work im glad you do this in your practice. You recommend vitamins and certain minerals
Yes! we have a lot of tools, whether ti be lifestyle medicine, nutrients, herbal medicine, acupuncture, depending on the assessment done and what is happening in the body and mind of the patient (biochemically, structurally, etc.)
With the many experts and AA groups that promise to have the answer, it can be amazingly frustrating to get into the same old trap again and again. Listen closely, googl Steffon Barkload's approach to get a one hour solution that won't let you down, and entirely get rid of the urges permanently.
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I wish to have clinicians like you in my area so I can get some help. What would you recommend for women in alcohol recovery who craving sugar?
Thanks for the useful information. The PORN issue is a big problem for many men out there. Can you please do a video on dopamine and porn and dopamine loop effect using various social media platforms,
they're taken individually--most are dosed in grams or hundreds of milligrams, so they won't all fit in an individual supplement. They're also not all generally needed, can and sometimes should be taken at different times of day, and not always absorbed optimally when taken together.
So is there an amino acid supplement blend you can recommend? I hate to buy them individually. I live out in the 'sticks' so getting to an ND is impossible. Have to do my own research online. I found you while searching for more info on Amino Acids. I know this vid is a few years old but I plan on watching more of your vids. Always learning!
Yes, they don't tend to be absorbed optimally when taken together, so it may be better to take them individually depending on the therapeutic effect you're after.
@@plowe6751, I'd have to know your plan and goals and a lot more about your health history to really answer that question, but those doses of tyrosine and 5HTP seem very low (of course, whatever works). If that protocol works for you, then I see no problem with it.
Great vid. I take anafranil and lexapro since 16 years. When I take aminos before workout, I feel my brain is better. What would you advise as supplements? Thks
I have recently stopped taking L-Phenylalanine and L- Tyrosine together because LP turns into tyrosine. I didnt see the point in taking both. Any advice? I was taking 1000mg of LP and 1000mg of L-tyrosine daily. Moving forward, i will be taking just the tyrosine alone with 400mg of theanine and ashwaganda.
Grrreat Video!Got q questio you said instead of taking L-tryptophan you take 5HTP, so thtat you body don´t need to do this one more step. I thought the same and also did the same.Rarely i take 5HTP. The same thought i had with dopamine, so i would take L-tyrosine, but from the experiences i heard, its btter to take the pre-precursor L-Phenylalanin. Because its more "effective"thats what they say. For getting tasks done and also for binge eating. (i do have those sugar cavings, 2 weeks before period too but also after, but 5HTP seems to work really time limited because its absorption through the gut...a bit of food or coffee and it stops working) NAC does also help with bing eating? So which one is better L-Phenylalanin or NAC? Or is there a eed to really take both? Honestly if i can, i save the coin 😆but if you recommend, to take both, its god to know why and i can still think about it. And L-gluthamin does also lower cravings? But how should i know which one i should take now? Happy to have found you, awesome content. Hope to hear back! Thank you 🤗
Thank you for your comment! I typically recommend amino acids that are later precursors (fewer steps). But I recommend amino acids for very specific reasons after the proper foundations are in place or as a temporary hold to get someone feeling better, help with weaning off medications, etc. NAC is a mainstay in my practice for hormonal, anti-oxidant, liver and mental health! Phenyl-a and NAC work on entirely different pathways (one is dopamine supportive and the other is anti-glutamate/anti-oxidant support).
@@DrTaliaMarcheggianiND Just re-watched your Video! Glad i see your comment! YT hasn´t send a notification. Very good answer! I thought NAC is sitable for me too because you said it also helps with cravings, but from your comment above.... i think Phenylamin could be more beneficial for me. @@madlenj.4644 Hi, Madlen, I can't give specific advice here, but with low blood pressure and high cortisol, it sounds like you might be cortisol resistant and stuck in a parasympathetic state. Dancing, shaking, cold water, licorice root extract (in the morning), methylated B vitamins, magnesium at night, and adding salt to water (to taste) would be the first things that come to mind to try--of course, best to sort out a strategy with an ND who knows the ins and out of your health history and can interpret your labs. 😉

I've read that serotonin produced in the gut does not cross the blood brain barrier. It (that produced in the gut) mainly influences organ function, and not brain function or mood.
5:24 serotonin and sugar and carb cravings. This explains it's! 🙌🏼
I’m documenting my methadone detox right now and working out is pivotal to my success. Thank you for this info!!! ✌️❤️
Thank you!
I have COPD...My own fault...just given up smoking 2 weeks ago. My drug of choice is heroin. I smoke it only abd wouldn't say I have a habit...but I'm close. 25mls methadone daily which I don't take if I'm using. Have to say...I don't have any sleeping problems and am WELL AWARE of my genetic and environmental triggers. Child sexual abuse survivor of absent Mum(and sister) and alcoholic Dad. Thinking just NAC...Tho I have been taking 1 vit D3 daily. Pensioner so no chance of affordable health support. Meditating once in the eve since giving up smoking...but it's now my heroin use (DEFO an emotional trigger there!) That has me concerned. ANYTHING I could suggest I could research...or do please? Thanks!❤
OMG! Love you, there are so many people who will benefit from seeing your video! I want to try one for sure. LOVE YOU DR. TALIA
This is dropping the hammer on big pharma! Well done! I’m definitely going to try this method out! I hate taking pharmaceuticals
Great presentation. I am an alcoholic who has drunk heavily for 30 years but have hit a 150-200 unit average per week for the last 10 years. I have tried to quit so many times but after about 10 days the neuro transmitter issue just gets too much to cope with. I have just got myself out of the initial withdrawal process again but this time I am going to using the upper dose of Tyrosine, 5HTP, L Theanine, Glutamine and GABA and DLPA. Not sure if GABA passes the blood brain barrier but it is worth a try.

Hope your continuing on your journey

Dr. Talia is the GOAT
You rock Dr.! Thanks for the useful information and your delivery is wonderful. Cheers!
I watched this video a long time ago. My girlfriend has had a lot of trouble sleeping, with depression and anxiety, but I think it becomes a cycle because she’s not getting the sleep. She also has very strong cravings for sugar. We got her some 5htp and she’s gonna try taking 100mg before bed. Thank you for making these videos.
Thank you for watching! This vid definitely needs a remake! It's one of the most-watched but the quality can definitely be better!
@@DrTaliaMarcheggianiND we love you
It helped?
@@bkandy7165 it did help a lot she took it twice a day at 100mg for like 3 months. It helped her to get back into a sleep and decreased her anxiety to where it was much more manageable.

Hi Doctor…. Thank god there are people like you in the world who are genuinely trying to help people… can you please please please tell me what would be the best combination of amino acids for someone who has had a life long struggle with methamphetamine addiction… it would really mean a hell of a lot to get a response from you ma’am…. Thank you In advance
Wow’ thank you for all this amazing information. I can’t wait to share to a coworker of mine and hope she come and sees you.
Thank you!
you are a wonderful doctor, and i found that ND Doctors way better than MD,
I have amphedime induced psychosis NAC pretty much fixed my brain also I don't use anymore.
Thank you love I’m sharing this for sure. In my family we are all struggling with some form of mental health we need brain health support- I saw you on Michael Jaco
Thank you!
this is so informative. thank you. god bless you. can youdo one for ptsd?
I really liked your video, it's a nice summary for several supplements available! I will subscribe and watch your other videos.
Thank you for great explanations about amino acids. Can one take everything you mention at the same time ?
Very clear and well presented. Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I wish to have clinicians like you in my area so I can get some help. What would you recommend for women in alcohol recovery who craving sugar?
Hi I am on olanzapine and I get sugar cravings all the time :< So thank you I will try 5-htp! keep the videos coming, you go!
If you are on SSRI’s it is contraindicated to use 5HTP as it can cause Serotonin Syndrome. Please check other drugs you are taking
very good content .. worth watching
Great info! Keep on making videos!
Check out my channel! I have soooo many videos. I also have a podcast: The Good Mood Podcast available on various platforms!
Thanks for the useful information. The PORN issue is a big problem for many men out there. Can you please do a video on dopamine and porn and dopamine loop effect using various social media platforms,
I'm on this boat. Porn and its craving towards watching it can really consume me. Any insight with amino acids or anything else?
Do you take these all individually? Or do you take the single tablet with the 9 amino acids?
they're taken individually--most are dosed in grams or hundreds of milligrams, so they won't all fit in an individual supplement. They're also not all generally needed, can and sometimes should be taken at different times of day, and not always absorbed optimally when taken together.
Thought on bpc-157 oral which is a peptide amino acids?
Excellent video. Thank you.
What are your thoughts on pairing DL-Phenylalanine and NAC to help behavioral addiction and anxiety in a male?
Have you tested that combination? Have you noticed benefits?
Awesome video . Could you recommend amino acids combined over singled out? Thx
Great conference!
My favorite video ever!!! TY
Very good video. Thx for you care!!! Much love♡
All - try taking black seed oil 1/2 to 1 tea spoon with honey on empty stomach see the result for yourself!
Helps with these issues discussed? Assuming by reduction on inflammation? Please share your experience.
Great vid. I take anafranil and lexapro since 16 years. When I take aminos before workout, I feel my brain is better. What would you advise as supplements? Thks
Fantastic content thank you
WOW!!! More videos Please! You are so good.
I'm of premenopausal age, having anxiety and trouble sleeping, would you recommend 5 http with NAC?
Id recommend it for anyone. My mom is menopausal and they help her tremendously.
(i do have those sugar cavings, 2 weeks before period too but also after, but 5HTP seems to work really time limited because its absorption through the gut...a bit of food or coffee and it stops working)
NAC does also help with bing eating?
The common opinion about L-Phenylalanin is, it supresses hunger.
But its also in the sweetner aspartam. But why then aspartam makes thick?
"phenylalanine (PHE), a known inhibitor of intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP), a gut enzyme shown to prevent metabolic syndrome..."
What is true...does L-Phanylalanin makes us thick or thin?
And what do you thik of BCAA for fat burning/muscle recovery?
@@DrTaliaMarcheggianiNDI recetly found out i do have low blood pressure and thats why most supps arent working for me.
But i also have high cortisol and high TSH.
No matter what i´m taking i feel sedated : 5htp, ashwaghanda, rhodiola rosea, sometimes also reishi,
and good for surpressing my endless appetite but still sedating or in other words makes me want to do nothing and want nothing 5htp.
Macca makes me irritable as hell.
So i tried L-Tyrosine, with food same effect as 5htp with food: no effect. Without food: as all the other supps.. again sedating.
What can i do?
i want to increase my appetite,
be more motivated , lightweight, happy, thoughtless,
want to lower my cortisol without lowering my blood pressure
and have normal periods without cramping until i faint. Ok you know what lets kee the last point uncosidered because, well...meeting the other needs first, will be a task.
What do you think?
@@madlenj.4644 Hi, Madlen, I can't give specific advice here, but with low blood pressure and high cortisol, it sounds like you might be cortisol resistant and stuck in a parasympathetic state. Dancing, shaking, cold water, licorice root extract (in the morning), methylated B vitamins, magnesium at night, and adding salt to water (to taste) would be the first things that come to mind to try--of course, best to sort out a strategy with an ND who knows the ins and out of your health history and can interpret your labs. 😉
Hi. I've heard that NAC should not be taken on its own as it will confuse the neural pathways. What should it be combined with, the other anino acids you mentioned; l-glutamine etc?
*B* vitamins
Hey Dr! I’d love to speak to you about the supplements you mentioned. I have bipolar 2 with an anxiety disorder and would like to know what you think of my routine
Can any of the amino acids help with food addiction?
Yes, 5HTP, NAC and glutamine have been amino acids I've used in my practice. Glycine is also helpful for blood sugar regulation.
Thankyou😊very helpful, suffer from extreme depression, theres definitely an imbalance somewhere. I've ordered l tyrosine. For years I was a vegetarian, it's the way I was raised and now I'm eating red meat in my diet and things seem to be improving, I only ever ate eggs, it's just not sustainable for me anymore and to be honest dont think it ever was😔. My energy and depression have lifted in these past two weeks, my skin is better my lips have colour. I've been starving myself all these years, I bought bone broth too, it has a good amino acid profile as well as lots of minerals.
Interested to see how it goes and how you feel!
@@DrTaliaMarcheggianiND I started on L theanine and tyrosine yesterday, does it take a while to work? I am not expecting to instantly feel better, all my life I struggled with addiction and have been in recovery for 8 years so free from all substances however once I got into abstinence it was evident why I choose the path I did due to my mental health. I would use antidepressants if they worked 😅 I have tried a wide range. It is very good work you are doing for people because no one really wants to use alcohol or drug s they do it for survival. Thanks again!
L tyrosine helps me feel better.
Do you recommend aminos for pregnant women? I only getting 3 aminos in my prenatal vitamins.
Nice video. Keep it up.
u said to talk to a professional before getting any supplement.well i live in austria .No doctor will no about these things here!

Dr. My two kids are dignosed schizophrenia. What supplements do you recommend for them?
Prayers to you and your family

does a naturopathic doctor qualfy as a primary care physician for insurance purposes? I hate that I have to pay monthly insurance and I never go to the doctor because alll they want to do is push medications. I want to cure from the inside out and have already gotten off of anxiety meds, BP meds, cholesterol meds, and blood sugar meds. But it has all been hit or miss, a few of these and some of those etc, I dont know what actually is working, or at what dose.
When I took at sublingual b12 supplement I had a panic attack virtually immediately after. also my blood test had high levels of b12
Margs My dr's keep telling me my b-12 levels are too high. I stopped taking fortified yeast. Eating a lot of eggs. They're still high.☹️
Same here. I cannot take b12 at all. I've been looking for other people with this side effect. Thank you for sharing so I know I'm not imagining things.
Doll up with Margs to take up B12 you must be low in it.

Hi dr Talia, I’ve been on Olanzapine 10mg a day for around one year. Would you recommend cold turkey them and use this amino acid therapy you are suggesting here?
Hi! Nope I never recommend cold turkey! and i wouldn't stop without working with a healthcare professional who can help you wean!
Wow great stuff!!
Hi, I found that NAC is carcinogenic for some type of cancers (for other types is instead protective) in rats. Source: paper cited on Consumerlab or Examine. Paper: "antioxidant supplements....", Xin Zhang et al, open access paper on "cell &Bioscience", 2021. That is what had prevented me from taking NAC until now. Any comment on this would be appreciated...and thanks for the video 🙂
not a carcinogen per se but can mitigate the pro-oxidative effects of chemo and the immune system. an argument against self-medicating: work with a professional!
Fit-recovery supplements helped me. Massive drop in drinking.
Are vegan or all natural protein shakes advisable for people with anxiety
Protein is so important for stabilizing blood sugar, which is so so important for anxiety. Particularly if the person is vegan, they might want to do plant protein in their smoothies to make sure they're getting the 100-150 g per day of protein that a woman with anxiety would likely benefit from.
Dr. Talia Marcheggiani, ND perfect! I’m not vegan but I’m looking to add more protein into my diet to maintain my weight and help with my anxiety, do you happen to have any recommendations of healthy natural protein powders that can help with this?

How do you feel about trace minerals and using platinum as a homeopathic treatment for mental health. Everything that you mentioned makes me more hyper and "crazy". I also cant take NAC due to my mercury tooth fillings.
I'd say see a professional to get one-on-one advice. Nothing here replaces that and that's the first step.

Hi Doctor, pl suggest amino acids for 15 years old anxiety and depression . I am taking Escitalopram 10 mg and mirtazapine 15 mg . Pl help
Alot of cats in the comments are asking if its ok to take certain Aminos along with other Aminos. Heres just my thoughts. Lots O' Aminos are found in all kinds of dif foods, since you probly wont get a bad reaction from eating diff foods with diff aminos together, Id imagine its no diff with Amino supps. May I ask you a question??
500 mg taurine increases gaba
Hi, my 7 year old daughter is on 10mg of adderall for adhd. Could L-tyrosine be a good substitute for that?
maybe
Tyrosine, taurine or aschwaghanda could really help add. Anything could be better than adderall. Kills the play circuit in children
The b vitamins, especially Niacin (b3).
This is such important information and im grateful for it.
But pleeeeeeze! Your voice is so low and articulation so rushed that I can only understand every other word.
Will you please get a good microphone and speak more articulately....

Thanks! I might re-record this one as it was filmed before I bought my mic. Will let everyone know when the new vid is up!
Do you have to take individual aminos on an empty stomach for them to be effective?
That is the gold standard way: when taken with protein they compete with the other amino acids for absorption.
Hi, do you have any social media where we can contact you on? I have my neurotransmitters lab results and I just wanted to talk about amino acids.
you can email at connect@taliand.com but I can't provide individualized medical advice without doing a proper assessment!
How long would you recommend taking 5 htp for?
You can use it every day safely, as long as you NEVER, NEVER go over the recommended dose.
Ive been using dextromethorphan for almost 12 years.. what does that mean, besides being stupid? Oh yeah..i have little self esteem.. because im stupid because I use Dextromethorphan and when I don't use it I get crazy and so when I get crazy I use dextromethophan, which makes me stupid, which makes me wanna stop..but when I stop I get crazy..alwayyys chasing rainbowwwwsssss... You are NOT stupid! See Walsh Institute, and Dr. William Walsh in addition to this content. Seek root causes. I believe there are huge rebound effects of brain inflammation due to use if stimulants, that cause crash following their use. Specifically, research Walsh's Five biotypes, MTHFR gene "SNP" and the resulting potential of genetic enzyme expression leading to imbalances with under, or over methylation cycle. Also, see ketogenic, or even carnavore diet. You are not stupid!!!
