I think that he would be a great person to have on your channel. *At 62 now, it angers me that my Motor Neuron Disease was possibly caused by a lifetime of too much sugar & carbs; I can barely walk now and have experienced an enormous amount of loss in so many ways. Ancel Keys was a jackass.
Believe this. I am 73 years old and was on antidepressants since I was 26 and had a couple of suicide attempts. After 2 years keto am now tapering my last antidepressant. Have gone from 300 mg dose to 37 1/2 every other day. I do have some bad periods but usually not a whole day instead of weeks.
I want this information to get out to all the medication injury groups. Ketosis has given me my life back after being couch bound for 6 years from benzos.

Her protocol described in her book 100% works. It was spot on with helping me discover my food sensitivities and needing the ketogenic diet to fix the brain energy problems I’ve had for a decade. Each change I’ve made after reading the book improved my symptoms further. I can’t believe I’m symptom free after a decade of suffering from brain symptoms/mental health issues. It was food all along and none of my doctors caught it.
Hey. I’m curious about your experience. I’m 8 weeks into ketosis and while I’ve had moments of feeling clear and more hopeful, there have been plenty of really bad days. I’m fully committing to 12 weeks (and probably longer to be honest). I guess what I’m asking is do you think 8 weeks is early days to decide whether it’s working for depression. Thanks
@ Based on my own experience, I would expect you to feel some relief from it more consistently by now. I’m curious how you test your ketones and what your levels are. That would be one of the things I would troubleshoot. I need to be above 1.5 to feel good. I feel my best around 2.0 but I’m not always chasing that anymore. The other thing I would want to know is whether you are applying Quiet Keto principles of Dr. Georgia Ede. Food sensitivities were a big part of my symptoms so I discovered that I need to combine the Quiet Diet principles with ketosis. I would be happy to share more of my experiences if you still can’t figure it out. I would say there is some fine tuning required for each person and it takes time to figure out all the pieces. Even if you are doing Quiet Keto, you may still need to cut out some vegetables she lists under “Limit Quantity.”

@@IK7. if youre a really active person who eats those carbs when you're in the middle of a 1 hour jog or bike ride, yeah sure. Either way, your body doesn't need carbs. Sure they're cheap, but you need to find different sources of fat.
1. Cut out all sugars, processed food, grains, and seed/vegetable oils 2. Eat in shorter eating window, with the longest window being 16 hours. Many have eating windows of even 12, 10, 8 hours and sometimes shorter (this also allows you to stay in ketosis, since you aren’t eating at all) 3. Eat distinct meals, with no snacking in between 4. Lower you carb intake to 20 total grams or less With steps 2 & 4, it’s often suggested to do those slowly, so you don’t have really bad withdrawal symptoms or hunger, which will defeat the purpose. If you have a hard time giving up certain food at first, a shorter eating window and distinct meals can help. You can only eat those foods within your window and as part of a meal.
Transitioning to a ketogenic diet and maintaining it is the single best thing I've ever done for myself. Ever. After a lifetime of depression and a decade of prescribed benzodiazepines that severely damaged my CNS, being in ketosis has given me my life back in a way I didn't even know was possible. I was gifted Dr Ede's book quite recently and it has been a huge help in fine tuning and helping me understand why this is working so well. If people only knew how much better they could feel.
consider also that the biggest source of oxidative stress, ros's and thus inflammation is excess, unbound, poorly recycled and dysregulsted iron due to the dietary lack of bioavailable copper and its ceruloplasmin transport and oxidase enzymes the real sugary culprit is fructose which lowers cellular atp, induces ir and ad, encourages foraging and produces unwanted metabolites including uric acid and sorbitol...and fructose is also produced from glucose and glycogen
Yes, but fructose endogenously produced occurs in small amounts. Exogenous fructose, especially in the amounts commonly consumed is an entirely different matter.

Read the book. Jaw dropping “ah-ha” moments for me. Husband and I now doing paleo. Already lost a few pounds in the first week but more importantly I wake up and can get moving into my day so much quicker and smoother.
This is what I am waiting for. I am ready to make this metabolic switch. Been three months and my body has still not switched over. I am not feeling the energy and brain benefits that I am looking for. Any advice? I’m really struggling 😢
How do you know you haven’t switched over? Have you been measuring your ketones and glucose? Are you in ketosis? How many carbs are you eating? How long is your eating window? Have you incorporated any fasting? How much fat are you eating? Are you eating until you’re full at each meal?
Well, if people largely ate that kind of chocolate that might be less harmful. But they don't. They mainly eat the sugary kind, don't they? Chocolate is toxic regardless.
I don't think she's saying dark chocolate is bad for health, I think what she meant was people start using these as tricks and hacks to actually avoid fixing the root of the problem and end up doing more damage consuming wrong products.
Eliminate sugar (and realize that that it's hidden in all processed foods). Eliminate (to 25 g max per day) all carbs: Rice, Pasta, Potatoes, Bread and all grain products, Fruits - which are just sugar bombs (except a few blueberries, raspberries, strawberries). Google IMAGES for keto diet, and you'll see many graphics/illustrations showing the breakdown. The other key thing is to not snack on anything after dinner, providing for a 12-14 hour fast to breakfast. I don't need lunch anymore.
Keto can work in many forms. I've found better success with altering the diet in various ways. Remember, it is perhaps best used as an elimination diet. Not just a diet. Read your body. Keto doesn't mean one thing. I encourage you to experiment. Don't forget about exercise too. I'm no doctor, but it's done great things for me when I began to think for myself. We are all different.
I had IBS, plus I'd had my gallbladder removed (I had no choice, it was infected and close to bursting) and I was able to slowly (over 2 years) increase my fat to a therapeutic level. And my depression of 40 years completely reversed. I had been told I'd always have to be on a low fat diet because I'd never be able to properly digest it. That was simply untrue.
@@timothymcgovern9228 I'm pre-diabetic and tried low carb to prevent becoming diabetic but, as I said, it aggravates my particular case of IBS. I have access to an RDN and a GI doctor.
IBS issues don’t come from fat. Yes, as your body gets used to eating more fat, you may have loose stools, but that just means increase fat intake more slowly. IBS issues come from carbs, specifically fiber.
