Also I am SO with you about trashy romance/paranormal book covers. Some are so embarassing I have a hard time buying them at all, let alone taking them out in public. I mean, people can say what they will about those generic "girl in a flowy dress with her back turned" YA covers, but at least I don't feel embarassed for having them.
After just finishing a book about abuse I now loathe the "I'm horrible to you because I know what you need more than you do" trope even more. Why are authors promoting partner abuse? Why? Why do we need that in our books? Also I am with you with those overhyped authors. I have tried to read them but I always get disappointed so now I avoid them like the plague.
it's just the grossest trope ever and I have never seen it used in an even semi healthy way? like just stop pls and thx. I still haven't learned (and probably never will haha) the hype always gets to me and then...well... yeah :/
I've heard some authors are against having trigger warnings in their books because they consider them spoilers. It would be so easy for publishers/ authors or whatever to place them after the last page of the book so that people who are looking out for them can know and others who don't care either way can skip them.
I was so disgusted in Pretty Little Liars when they put up Aria and her teacher Ezra and (SPOILER!) actually made them marry in the end even though it was shown that Aria DID file a "complaint" against him and wanted to tell the school/police in the past
I only know that book by collen hoover (i dont know the english name, in german its called "weil ich layken liebe" which is the cheesiest name ever) and i dnf ed it the moment she found out that he was her teacher. Like honestly who thinks that is a good idea?!
Do you know if it has been translated to Spanish or something? Because I'm Spanish and I rrreally want to read it, but I don't think I'm going to understand the full meaning if I buy it in English Love your channel btw💕👏
I get your frustration with romance covers, but there's a reason for it. Especially if you are not the ultimate A-lister. I tried a more artsy take on a romance series once. It didn't sell at all. Changed the covers to fit the genre, and what do you know? They started selling. And I've seen and heard of similar situations from a lot of other authors. But whenever I talk to readers at conferences, they always say they want different covers. And it's not always about how it looks in public (because most read on ereaders anyway), it's more about them wanting to see something else. Yet at the end of the day, a cover that communicates genre easily will sell better. A little sad, but true.
I know you must hear this all the time, but I have to say I love how funny and honest you are. You're never mean, you just say what you think but always in a respectful way and that's very rare nowadays. Loved this video, as always! :))
2:36 i really thought you were gonna say SJM hahah. i love the acotar trilogy but i actually like watching your reviews of it even if i do not agree with them (????? i don't know either, don't ask me) and oh gOD THAT EYELINER THO. yasssss. great video! ^^
Haha! The overhyped one had me rolling! I love Victoria Schwab with a passion (as a writer and human), but I'll be the first to admit that her books are NOT for everyone! NO BOOK IS FOR EVERYONE! My personal opinion on that one is Sarah J. Maas. >.< I loved the Raven Cycle, but I have to agree with the ending. It still irks me. I've heard good things about Radio Silence.
I love Victoria schwa most of the time I swear haha some of her books just didn't quite do it for me. also SAME about sjm lol TRCs ending will forever bother me you should read radio silenceeeeee
I totally agree with you on The Raven King. Like, I love the whole series, but I feel as if the ending was a let down. It's like when Vampire Diaries made me cry over a certain character dying... Then magically resurrected him. Also. Henry. Like he was amazing, but I feel like he could have been inserted way earlier if he was meant to be a part of the Gangsey. But overall still loved it. Also, loved this video. Thanks for the new upload.
“All those older paranormal books that everyone was obsessed with in 2013 and 2014.” *insert flashbacks to having VA release parties with my friends in 2008* Oh that line cut deep :( That said agreed on the covers every YA series that came out when I was middle school was designed to be ugly and embarrassing. Also, I’m pretty sure I’m the only person I know who read The Raven King and wasn’t horribly let down?? I didn’t love it, but I also didn’t think it was nearly as disappointing as most people did. I thought it made more sense as no matter what happened, especially with Glendower, it would never meet readers’ (and Gansey’s) expectations. It wasn’t as epic as we wanted because it couldn’t be. That said, I’m currently rereading it in between catching up on my Goodreads challenge so we’ll see how I feel about it not on release day. (Also excited for the Dreamer Trilogy if only to see what this new fancy Gansey is like because that was...a little bit jarring ngl.)
hahaha it's okay we all went through that time (and made it out lol) and like, TRK was fine I just... was underwhelmed, but I'm truly hoping that the dreamer trilogy will make up for it :)
you have to admit Rainbow Rowel is really great for those days where your just like "I exist only for fluff today, today is for only cute and simple to understand adorable people" you know?
ooo that becky albertalli hot take! i think people go crazy over her books because she's really one of the first authors who writes lgbt narratives that have crossed over into the mainstream with love simon being a movie and whatnot (even though i'm definitely one of those who goes crazy over her lol)
totally agree! and I mean I really enjoy her books and am super happy about the mainstream rep, I just think that there are other underrated/own voices books that are just as good if not better haha
can i just HUG you !!! i was literally talking about "the raven king" with my friend today (which basically consisted of me complaining about how frustrated i was) and okay i could kinda excuse it all and blame it on the fact that the gangsey were all hella tired of this whole quest like okay but NOAH. oh my god. what happened to noah can anyone tell me because i am a single mother of a ghost boy here and i am worried siCK. i would go to war for this series and for maggie but the ending is just so frustrating wow
you're right Kat. Adelina shouldn't have died. I think that too that I'm so angry when I'm reading it. She deserved better even though she's the villain aka the antagonist. I'm glad you ranted about it.
So this video was just recommended to me and I immediately had to subscribe as soon as you mentioned Labyrinth Lost. I read it last month and I haven’t seen anyone mention on BookTube.
I love your videos so much but listening to you really wants me to wrap you up in a blanket and make you tea. You sound so rusty in some moments! Take care of yourself, dear!
When you said Marie Lu, I audibly gasped b/c she's my favorite author xD I've met her multiple times at book signings and she is super sweet even though she writes really dark stories haha. She talked about how she hoped Adelina would make the right choice at the end, so I figured that what happened in The Midnight Star was basically that. And there's an epigraph at the end that explains the book title and kind of reverses that spoiler that you were mad about xD So it still does have a happy ending for her and everyone else, in my opinion :)
I’m kinda ok with love triangles, as long as they are like the romantic mess that is Midsummer Night Dream by Shakespeare. It’s super scummy to pick between two people.
great video! I relate so hard to what u said about romance covers. The side eyes people give me while waiting for the elevator could burn a hole into the book, so this issue has become less of a pet peeve and more of a safety hazard
GIRLLLLL when you brought out The Raven King, I FELT THAT!!! like... one of my FAV series and it fell flat af. where was glendower?? why did literally nothing happen.... why was noah literally BARELY there.... so disappointing.
I saw in the preview you with Raven King and was like 0.0 and then I was listening I AGREE WHAT WAS THAT BOOK IT WAS SO DISAPPOINTING AND SO CONFUSING LIKE WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED OK. BUT WAITING FOR THAT RONAN BECAUSE ADAM
I recently bought Labyrinth Lost and I can't wait to end my exams (if they don't end me first) and read it! Also, you look very pretty in this video, love the makeup :)
Ok first of all... the romance cover thing. That is SO FREAKING TRUE. Like... why? Why must they be so bad? Also LABYRINTH LOST!! I started that over the summer and I absolutely loved it! Sadly I lost it but hopefully I’ll find it soon lol
I love your videos, but can I just say a very small part of me died when you said you didn't like Mara Dyer. I mean it's cool and everything, just gah lol. Anyway great video again, obviously!
All this time later and I want a hair video- why'd you cut it? What do you like/dislike about it? I have very long hair and I'm very "hair nosy" please & thank u kat
Kat's posted, drop everything! Get well soon! Also have you ever read It because I remember seeing it in one of your videos and just.... I just wonder what your thoughts would be

I’m living for it tho
slice slice :)
Also I am SO with you about trashy romance/paranormal book covers. Some are so embarassing I have a hard time buying them at all, let alone taking them out in public. I mean, people can say what they will about those generic "girl in a flowy dress with her back turned" YA covers, but at least I don't feel embarassed for having them.
honestly idk what goes through the heads of whoever is in charge of that and I probably never will haha
After just finishing a book about abuse I now loathe the "I'm horrible to you because I know what you need more than you do" trope even more. Why are authors promoting partner abuse? Why? it's just the grossest trope ever and I have never seen it used in an even semi healthy way? like just stop pls and thx.
I still haven't learned (and probably never will haha) the hype always gets to me and then...well... yeah :/
I hate people justifying abuse
I've heard some authors are against having trigger warnings in their books because they consider them spoilers. It would be so easy for publishers/ authors or whatever to place them after the last page of the book so that people who are looking out for them can know and others who don't care either way can skip them.
I didn't know Timothee Chalamet had a sister! lol
i can't stop seeing it. why would you do this.
@@mentallyunstable1926 You should see Timothee's cousin, Austin Abrams (AKA Jimothee Chalamet) 🤣
"I don't like a lot of things "
my whole life 😂😂
it's a big mood lol
I muted in while she was spoiling a death in TMS and it’s pretty funny to just watch her facial expressions and hand movements!
I kept unintentionally reading her lips and all I saw was "I was so mad! I was so angry!"
I don't like the teacher-student trope at all either.
it's soO GROSS and nobody will ever be able to convince me otherwise!!
I was so disgusted in Pretty Little Liars when they put up Aria and her teacher Ezra and (SPOILER!) actually made them marry in the end even though it was shown that Aria DID file a "complaint" against him and wanted to tell the school/police in the past

“You wanna talk about this? Let’s......let’s chat” I was READY for the salt
I need to read Radio Silence, now....
YES PLEASE DO
Do you know if it has been translated to Spanish or something? Because I'm Spanish and I rrreally want to read it, but I don't think I'm going to understand the full meaning if I buy it in English

that's super interesting to know thank you!
Your makeup is PERFECT
Also, your *entire* list of overrated authors is on point.
I know you must hear this all the time, but I have to say I love how funny and honest you are. You're never mean, you just say what you think but always in a respectful way and that's very rare nowadays. Loved this video, as always! :))
thank you so much I'm cryin :)
It warms me that I can see The Song of Achilles on your bookshelf.
still haven't read it yet, but I'm glad it makes you happy lol :)
2:36 i really thought you were gonna say SJM hahah. i love the acotar trilogy but i actually like watching your reviews of it even if i do not agree with them (????? i don't know either, don't ask me)
and oh gOD THAT EYELINER THO. yasssss.
great video! ^^
lyz santos i mean sjm is there too lol i just figured i’d try and spice it up a little haha

#eyelineronpoint
DAMN that's some spicy makeup!! eyeliner sharper than my intellect!! you look so good aaaaaaa
*cries* thank you I'm dead
I totally agree with you on The Raven King. Like, I love the whole series, but I feel as if the ending was a let down. It's like when Vampire Diaries made me cry over a certain character dying... Holly Sparks strooooong agree. there were good things but a lot of it should have been different imo
NOAH MY POOR BOY HE DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER WHY DIDNT TRK FOCUS MORE ON HIS CHARACTER
STRONG AGREE I AM FOREVER RAGING ABOUT HIS ENDING
Labyrinth Lost.. I will be looking that up. Thanks.
no prob! I hope you enjoy it :)
“All those older paranormal books that everyone was obsessed with in 2013 and 2014.” *insert flashbacks to having VA release parties with my friends in 2008* Oh that line cut deep :( That said agreed on the covers every YA series that came out when I was middle school was designed to be ugly and embarrassing.

and like, TRK was fine I just... was underwhelmed, but I'm truly hoping that the dreamer trilogy will make up for it :)
Ngl I really hoped you were going to say John Green for the overrated/overhyped authors lolol 🙃
Trueeee
Honestly I’m so mad at how Radio Silence is so underrated. It’s such a good book and the fact that more people haven’t read it makes me so angry.
Bands And Books YES. THIS.
Subbed! I love the chill brutal honesty. This video is me 😂
you have to admit Rainbow Rowel is really great for those days where your just like "I exist only for fluff today, today is for only cute and simple to understand adorable people" you know?
What you said about the romance covers was so on point I was literally thinking of the exact same series.
Yes I LOVE Radio Silence!!!!!
YES ITS SO GOOOOOOD
ooo that becky albertalli hot take! i think people go crazy over her books because she's really one of the first authors who writes lgbt narratives that have crossed over into the mainstream with love simon being a movie and whatnot (even though i'm definitely one of those who goes crazy over her lol)
totally agree! and I mean I really enjoy her books and am super happy about the mainstream rep, I just think that there are other underrated/own voices books that are just as good if not better haha
Thank you for your comment on trigger and content warnings. A safe and happy reading experience is all I'm asking for. :(
I was ready to plug my ears for Crooked Kingdom and then you changed your mind. xD Really have to get around to that duology.
YES YOU DOOOOO
I've bought it. It's sitting there. Haha, soon!
giving the Hermione vibes
I’m surprised you didn’t say Sarah for overhyped authors 😂
A Chapter From Aisha she’s an obvious choice lol and i decided to spice things up a little bit 😂😂
I love your passion for saltiness. Like you know the kind of good writing you deserve and won't stay quiet when things aren't up to par
Your hair looks amazing here. ❤😃
And I totally agree with your opinions on the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.
Books that need more recognition: fully agree with you on these choices. Also: Station Eleven. It's like, come on out there in the reading world!
Sandy Lender i’m one of those people who still hasn’t gotten around to station eleven oops (soon though!)
can i just HUG you !!! i was literally talking about "the raven king" with my friend today (which basically consisted of me complaining about how frustrated i was) and okay i could kinda excuse it all and blame it on the fact that the gangsey were all hella tired of this whole quest like okay but NOAH. oh my god. what happened to noah can anyone tell me because i am a single mother of a ghost boy here and i am worried siCK. i would go to war for this series and for maggie but the ending is just so frustrating wow
"I am a single mother of a ghost boy" honestly so relatable I cry he deserved the best and did not recEiVE
paperbackdreams ikr.....if he doesn't have at Least a cameo in the dreamer books i'm gonna riot
you're right Kat. Adelina shouldn't have died. I think that too that I'm so angry when I'm reading it. She deserved better even though she's the villain aka the antagonist. I'm glad you ranted about it.
You're a beautiful and amazing person. Thanks for existing.
thank you so much *cries*
So this video was just recommended to me and I immediately had to subscribe as soon as you mentioned Labyrinth Lost. I read it last month and I haven’t seen anyone mention on BookTube.
Why. Is your eyeliner. Perfection please stop.
You're like the Grace Helbig of booktube :)) Seriously, your style of reviewing books is really entertaining :>
I love your videos so much but listening to you really wants me to wrap you up in a blanket and make you tea. You sound so rusty in some moments! Take care of yourself, dear!
thank you so much! I'm already feeling better today so maybe a little salty filming was just what I needed :)
Tags like this give me life 😁 I've always wanted to try one but I haven't read enough books to even have proper answers 😅 getting there though!!
you should totally try it when you've got enough!
I’m kinda ok with love triangles, as long as they are like the romantic mess that is Midsummer Night Dream by Shakespeare. It’s super scummy to pick between two people.
yes!! i agree so much with your opinion on the raven king it was such a bad ending
LOL! I lost it when I saw Radio Silence!! I LOVE THAT BOOK!!!
Gosh, you are GLOWING in this video! Lovely ♥

paperbackdreams thank you! I'm trying to find a good liner :)
Ik everyone’s talking about how sharp your eyeliner is (which it is hella on point), but oh my god that highlight though.
you know, I disagree with some of your opinions, but I always LOVE your videos. You're just an amazing booktuber, you deserve more subs.
thank you!!
great video! I relate so hard to what u said about romance covers. The side eyes people give me while waiting for the elevator could burn a hole into the book, so this issue has become less of a pet peeve and more of a safety hazard
I can't handle the judge looks lol just let me read in peace!!!
Marie Lu... I don't feel alone anymore. 🤐
sarah j maas is overrated and im not even sorry i said it :)

your hair looks so pretty in this video! (sorry idk if this is a common thing to say in booktube, i'm more used to beauty videos 😅)
Hey ! I've discovered your channel through this tag :) i loved it
Ok first of all... the romance cover thing.

Kat's posted, drop everything! Get well soon! Also have you ever read It because I remember seeing it in one of your videos and just.... I just wonder what your thoughts would be
hahaha thank you! and I haven't read It and tbh I'm not super inclined to anymore bc of a video called 'Not Here for IT'
I actually mostly agree with you on the overrated authors part, so...
Least favorite book that I've read since booktube: Graceling. Dear goodness that book... Oh. And Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas. That was most disturbing as far as romances go.
Book that needs more recognition: The Summer of Letting Go by Gae Polisner.
I love uncensored opinions and people being "salty." Thanks for a lovely video. =)
Cloth book covers, it may be a crappy wrap job but it gets done
Your channel is my new religion. JS!
Thanks gurl
1000% agreed about Labyrinth Lost.
Also highlight game on point.
YESSSS IT IS SO AMAZING
Your booktube is goals 😂😂
0:25 she hit the w o a h
Lol. You make me laugh 😂😊
You make so many videos about books you don't like, I genuinely wanna see videos about books you DO like! (This isn't meant to be a mean comment lol I'm actually serious)
You look gorgeous in this video!!!
6:50 is my situation
Yesssss spill that TEA
I'm going to pick up Labrinth Lost... Eventually. I just know I'll like it.
You should get yourself some book envelops from fabric or colored paper. So you can wrap all the books with embarrassing covers. ^ ^
Gurrrrl, you gotta do some dramatic and problematic videos on Coleen Hoover's and Katie McGarry's books asap. It would be a combination of my favorite things: problematic shit getting dragged and your amazing commentary. Pleaaaaaase
maybe someday :)
This is a super weird thing to fixate on, but you have an extremely nice complexion.
thank you sm haha
Okayish? Your makeup is giving me so much life, that my skin is starting to clear up, girl stop.
