    The only problem with the amber lights is that they are also used by slow vehicle like tractor, trucks and road maintenance vehicles, if they had decided to go completely on the red or blue-orange or the one they are using now in Catalunia if I'm not mistaken with red-orange for rescuers, at least for those coming from other countries they have no problem recognizing them when emergency vehicles respond

      Red (now reserved only for police use, to yield and pull over ) and orange are actually discontinued , a Law was issued on August 2018 authorizing the use of blue lights on EMS and fire services, some have changed their lights already and some haven´t

      @@danielgavira8644 so now the emergency vehicles will have blue lights, well, it will lose the uniqueness of having different flashing lights, but in the end they can differentiate the work vehicles and slow vehicles from the emergency ones

      Also curious about the two-tone siren. Only heard this type in France. Is it a less urgent call?

      I agree with the use of amber on non emergency vehicles only, but in my opinion, they should have allowed the use of red lights along with blue instead of making blue only lights mandatory. Many European countries like Czechia and Greece start to permit the use of red lights on emergency vehicles.

    Can’t believe that Spanish ambulances used to use only ambers. That’s very strange. How would you differentiate between any run of the mill construction vehicle, or an ambulance coming up behind you? I just can’t fathom the use of amber for an emergency vehicle at all.

    Really weird seeing emergency vehicles using amber / orange lights though - cuz that color is used for non-emergency vehicles e.g. construction vehicles.
    Shouldn't the emergency vehicles use blue lights in Europe though? I know Japan uses red, U.S uses red and blue combo.

    • @enlosluceros7236
      @enlosluceros7236 2 роки тому +4

      That's because the orange lights were the ones Spain used before the EU normative, so some vehicles still have them.

    • @OldLordSpeedy
      @OldLordSpeedy 2 роки тому +2

      Do not forget that laws in every european countries are different. So the lights and sound is different of course too.
      Fun Fact: The U.S.A. is a very big country and near a continent but every *city* have different laws for lights and sound!

      don't forget red and amber, some use red and white, or like Chicago or around Chicago red and green

    • @OldLordSpeedy
      @OldLordSpeedy 2 роки тому +2

      In the old good times only the police can use blue light in Spain. So all other use orange light with different siren.
      After many countries use blue for emergency apparatus or cars and red for stop at lights and yellow/amber for hazardous, more and more countries use this colour scheme. So in the U.S.A. was only red in history.
      Some countries use wing-wag lights (or white/blue / white/red) or alternate lights for more visibility. In the U.S.A. they use rolling Christmas trees and in Asia more as one siren at the same time.
      For POV exists differently laws. From forbidden (FRG only sign) over one green light (UK/Denmark) to red/blue/white/green/orange/amber/sign with/without siren and/or wing-wag or alternate lights till the U.S. rolling Christmas trees.

      @@OldLordSpeedy tru, different parts of the US have thier ideas of how to be rolling Christmas trees, but some people get a kick out of it and it's highly functional and the fire apparatus is more visible at night

    Why would any country use “amber” only lights for emergency vehicles ? It makes no sense to me. Can someone enlighten me ?

    • @coswiger
      @coswiger Рік тому

      Blue was only allowed to law enforcement in Spain for a long time. Not long ago they changed this guideline so new vehicles already are equipped with blue lights and some older ones got or will get an update. Not sure why red was no option.

      @johncase2974 Рік тому

      @@coswiger Thanks for the information. That explains why they didn't use blue but like you, no clue why they didn't use red - - heck, even green would have been better than amber lol. Thanks again

      Maybe a traditional reason. You might even find an answer on YT as this topic often is asked under Spanish videos.

    I have amber & white lights installed all around on my SUV and that's legal here, in Estonia (EU). So if I drive to Spain, I may have problems with that? Instead of Amber lights it's even better to use GREEN on EMS as South Korea does. They're as bright as blue lights and are more vibisle, than ambers.

    • @MA9494AM
      @MA9494AM 2 роки тому

      Spain is in a transition to blue lights for EMS and Fire Services since a few years back. Blue lights has been reserved for Police and Guardia Civil untill the law change.
      If you look at old french emergency vehicles they all had yellow lights untill the 60's or 70's, the UK switched in the early 60's, Sweden had red steady burn lights untill 1970 some with yellow or red beacons added.
      You may have trouble with white flashing lights even if you take the ferry over to Sweden. Always check the local regulations before travel
