I enjoy the contrast in your sketchbook between freaky surrealist characters and dramatic natural scenes of seascapes and landscapes. They're both really enjoyable to look at.

I think most of my sketchbooks have bad sketches. I think it's good to have bad sketches. It shows you how much you have improved, or what you need to improve on.

Well now I just gotta get a sketchbook again. I stopped drawing in a sketchbook completely when I got decent at digital art, but have been wanting to try out some traditional again. And you my friend. Have just helped me make my final decision in doing that. ^^

One idea I'm going to try in my next sketchbook (finishing my current one this week!!) is to make a list of goals in the front. That way, if you want to draw but don't know what to do, not only do you have your mental list of things to improve, you have a physical one so you can actually see the areas you wanna improve in!!

Any tips on going into college and a digital arts major?
OH gosh I wish I knew how to be more helpful on this! I have little more to say than practice a ton, take great, well lit pictures of your work. (a cloudy day in the morning or afternoon hours is a great time for strong, but diffused lighting). I think they look at a range of things. Foundational skill understanding seems really important, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have conceptual ideas filtering into your work that make it seem more personal and less just assignment based, though I think depending on the school, they're probably well aware that college is where many people really start to develop their stylistic ideas more fully. good luck love!!!!!

The first thing my art teacher on my college course said was that "Art is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration, never wait around for inspiration to come for you." Which has motivated me significantly, as I always thought inspiration would come to me.
