Jimmy Page, as the leader of the New Yardbirds had a contractual obligation to play some gigs in Sweden but the New Yardbirds had broken up so he decided that his new band would fulfill that contract. It's blues on steroids
I don't know how you got that video but I applaud you for getting it through without being blocked. I bow before you for that I haven't seen that since I was a kid. Awesome 😊
Kenneth Tesso 🤗
not quite as good as the studio version but Zeppelin is number ! :-)
Not many here have had the pleasure of seeing Zeppelin 4 times. I have. Saw them in 1970 in Montreal. Two nights in a row in Vancouver in 1975 and in Seattle in 1977 I was 26 years old when I first saw them. I'm working on 76 now and you guys really missed the greatest band ever. I was so lucky.
Robert Worth 😮
Mississippi Blues in the hands of Gods
you two are a riot lol. Bless you both
You guys should listen to Ten Years Gone, IMO their most beautiful song. You’ll love it. Just subbed too lovin the channel
Last line: "Will your tongue wag so much when I send you to hell."
Hell ya!
This was recorded in Sweden. they had only been together a short time and this was during their first tour.
Jimmy Page, as the leader of the New Yardbirds had a contractual obligation to play some gigs in Sweden but the New Yardbirds had broken up so he decided that his new band would fulfill that contract. This was a youth TV show and the kids in that place had no idea that they were witness to a seminal moment in rock history. I'm not sure of the exact amount of time they had been together, but this is the first recorded live performance of Led Zeppelin.
Isn't it Denmark?
@@umpdaddy1 it's hard to understand that they were 'always' amazing. no other band comes close. zep was four virtuoso musicians and jimmy page let them do their own thing. so incredible.
It was in Denmark.
Jimmy was left holding the Yardbirds’ contracts and assembled and produced the best band. Four amazing musicians recorded together, played together and wrecked the world.
Its been well documented Zeppelins love for early American blues from the 40s and 50s. They did a lot of covers. Listen to when the levee breaks.
in case no one has answered yet, I'm pretty sure this was a danish television variety show. shows like this often had awkward extras sitting around the band for no reason. great video, guys.
Greatest rock drummer ever!
So happy I got experience this video of Zepplin with you guys! I've never seen it before and I thought it was awesome! I didn't know how he made those weird sounds on his guitar. Now it all makes sense!
LZ, one of the greatest groups of all time as far as I'm concerned. All terrific musicians. Fool I was, heard this on Acid
Led Zeppelin actually covered several blues tracks, perhaps none so masterfully as 'When the levee breaks', about one of the great Mississippi floods around 100 years ago
Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton, live 2007, cant find my way home. It’s a beautiful game changer.
Yes It's Me Again!! Make Sure It's at the Concert 1970 at the Royal Albert Hall!! GUARANTEED YOU'LL BE AMAZED!!
Steph n Jay, i luv Led Zep, even saw em live back in the 70's, but lookin at that audience i reckon they must of been playing at someones funeral!! luv your reaction vids!
1000 points for such an authentic reaction.
@Step n Jay Lee - If my memory serves me correctly, this is their first time appearing on television.. thus, the "television audience". Great reaction btw!!
This venue was a TV show...Danish I think. This is like a first concert...in 1968! Watch the live version in 73 or 75? Can't remember which year but anything they do live is AMAZING! They are unbelievable live! You like blues watch the live Since I've Been Loving You from the early 70s. OMG
Hey there!this gig was recorded all live on a denmark tv show right after they released their first album in 1969.that 's part of the reason why people there was quiet ,it was all new back then.later on they became one of the bigger acts ever.footnote:this band blended a lot of different styles of music, that's something you will found out listening to some other records.this song is just one tiny little side of their style
Hi Jay, glad you like Led Zep! I grew up on them. They were the original heavy metal band with a big
blues influence.
Great song selection & reaction! The people in the audience were sitting there stunned and bewildered. Nothing like this has ever been seen and heard. It went over like a lead balloon; hence the name ((which (I think) was coined by Pete Townsend of the Who)) Led Zeppelin.
