One use pully bolt. New bolt & Torque to 280ft lbs. ARP is a good choice p/n 234-2503. Now that you over temp the pully, the seal most likely is going to leak prematurely. I do the things right the first time so I do not have to do it a second time. 😀 BTW I believe the gap for the oil pump is .015 on three sides.
I use to work for gm. I've done hundreds of these. I always left the cover loose and put the balancer on then tighten the cover bolts. Seemed to center the cover. Any input why this would not work?

No because they are not super precise, I has to sand them.
