    LYRICS:
    Ever since the world's existed
There's one thing that is certain
There are those who build walls
    And those who open doors
Ah but this my love I'm thinking you already knew
    For some it's always winter
    While others have the spring
    Some people find good fortune
While others never find a thing
Ah but this my love is something you already knew
    That's how it's always been
And I know you know it
There can be freedom only when nobody owns it
I'm going to say that again
Because I know you know it
There can be freedom only when nobody owns it
Of what use is the moon if you don't have the night?
Of what use is a windmill with no Quixote left who'll fight?
Ah but this my love is something you already knew
At some point on the horizon
Sky can be confused with earth
    Some people dream of God
    While others dream of wealth
But of course my love this is what you see out on the street
    It's how it's always been
And I know you know it
There can be freedom only when nobody owns it
    Let me say that again
Because I know that we both know it
There can be freedom only when nobody owns it
    When nobody owns it
    When nobody owns it
    When nobody owns it
    When nobody owns it
    Ever since the world's existed
There's one thing that is certain
    Some people build walls
    Others open doors

Oh Jackson. Back in 1975 when I was newly married at the age of 21 we listened to you and it was a religion for us. I hear you now and I feel transported back to those incredible heady days that are such a part of our lives. Thank you for the voice and the lyrics. You are one of a kind.

It touches the deepest part of my soul. Brings back many many powerful moments in my life and I am certain everyone that loves his music feels the exact way. It very hard for me to get thru a single song without tears. My beloved hubby played all CJB songs and taught me how to play many of them. It's just real hard to get all the way thru one. He's been gone now 13 years.i surely miss our harmonies.Hes in R n R Heaven and I'm sure he s doing it justice as well. TY CJB and Val. Just beautiful!

@@nancyboyd6273 Beautiful. In 76 my boyfriend and I argued over an Eagles concert, I was going hell or highwater, he had already seen them in smaller intimate settings he didn't want to go to a stadium, but JD Souther was opening, I was going. We compromised, if I would marry him, he would take me. Then he introduced me to the music of Jackson Browne, that man was a keeper. He has been gone now 15 years. And if he were here, my first question would be, how did I come to find Warren Zevon on my own after you were gone? You only played me Werewolves!!

Dear Jackson, the world still needs your voice so much. The tumult of the 60s and 70s opened the eyes and hearts of so many young people to the errors of the existing structures and systems. Like you, many artists of the time became wise beyond their years. Thank you for the insight you’ve been sharing through your music for all these years. You are such a treasure.

Right on Dave... Ive always liked James Taylor, but have always been a much bigger Jackson Browne fan.
I was disappointed that Browne was the opening act, instead of the headliner, only playing for an hour, even though he did come back the second half of Taylor's show and performed quite a few James Taylor songs with James, which was very cool.
When Jackson Browne comes here in September, just days before my 60th birthday, he's the headliner, so we'll get to see a full 2 hour show from him then, and I'm extremely happy about that.
Here's my Jackson Browne playlist on my youtube channel, it's got 12 full JB albums and quite a few live JB concerts too.

In 1972, I was part of a remote Ethiopian community as a peace corps volunteer, and several nights a week a bunch of us went dancing at the local dancebeit. I was used to the jerky arhythmical local music, but one night out of nowhere came Doctor My Eyes!!! It was a surprise planned for me "so you hear your native music here". Someone chose well! That song and Paul Simon's Mother & Child Reunion were the two songs that the bar played for me over the next couple years. Thanks for the good memories, Jackson Browne!!!!

I found Jackson Browne’s music at about 13, 1980-81. Two out of the first five vinyl LPs I ever purchased were his. In my teens I moved towards heavy rock, classic stuff, zeppelin, Floyd, etc.
Then in my early 20s, I had a chance to dump my old vinyl onto cassette (which would play in my vehicle deck) because my buddy bought a turntable/tape combo unit. He was unfamiliar with The Pretender, Hold Out, even Running on Empty. I said something like, this music is reaching my ears in a different way because I haven’t heard it for so long. As we listened together he remarked something like “man, you ARE Jackson Browne”. (We dabbled in songwriting and played/recorded together) It was funny, but it made me consider. Made me pause to wonder if, as I assumed, it was because he naturally resonated with who I am, or more because he made that much impact. Many years later I’ve come to understand that the answer to that is yes.
    Thanks, Jackson. Never stop.

It's quite evident that while the pandemic has changed so much in our world the time off has brought us a better and more polished Jackson Browne. The music and words have always kept our feet on the ground but something's a little different now. I saw and heard it at the Oxbow concert in Napa, but that was just a taste. The simplicity of musicians on these home videos sing just as loud as a studio full of backup instruments. THIS... is quality.
Oh yeah, I still want to get up and sing Rosie with you, that hasn't changed 😎

Jackson, when you wrote and performed "Lives In The Balance," all those years ago you were prescient beyond your wildest dreams. After 8.5 years of research I can tell you unequivocally that our leaders over the past 258 years have intentionally, maliciously, and savagely propitiated at least twelve ancient gods to grease the esoteric wheels. Your heart and soul have always written in a way that is far more in true with the ugly reality than you will ever know. And personally I am indebted to you for having been a voice of grace, wisdom, and thoughtfulness in how you author your music. I thank you Jackson Browne because everyone needs to hear of the things that touch others..

I knew before you two played a note that this would be a remarkable experience. But that did not prepare me adequately for being blown away by the tender, poignant strength of these words, interwoven with such heartfelt melody and musicianship.
This the rare song that brings such joy and appreciation while also pointing to the depth of real world problems.
As others have said in other words, Val, your guitar accompaniment is masterful and eloquent. And Jackson, your artistry with song, sung from the heart, is almost beyond compare.
