To any of you who do not know who these people are.....These old timers are the legends who laid down the groove for decades of great music that came out of California in the 70s and 80s. Say what you will about those post 60s hippies - they made some damn fine music.. Some Damn Fine Music!
I was so fortunate to meet Danny Kortchmar, Leland Sklar and Russ Kunkel a few years ago in Chicago as part of the Carole King/James Taylor Troubadour Tour. Not only are they amazing musicians, but they came across as very warm, humble human beings. If you read the liner notes of so many classic albums, there they are. Still amazing.
If anyone has any doubts about their playing, they have a new CD/Album coming out as 'The Immediate Family' soon - check out their FB page or search UA-cam.
Jackson Browne's music was the sound track to my youthful life in California. Bless you Jackson and and all the folks that made this most amazing music for a most amazing time.
As well as mine in Michigan. One of the underrated GREATS! I was speaking to a friend about JB, and it's my opinion that while some of his great songs received air-time, most of his very best never did.
Jackson was singing this song at the Greek Theater the first time i ever saw him in concert Aug. 17th 2016. Have always loved this song was such an awesome surprise.
Jayzuz - came across this just today (16 December 2022) - what a song; what a performer; what a line up.......Sklar on bass just knocks it out of the park for me......good music is timeless - a lasting legacy for those genuinely capable of writing and performing.......Amazing

My my Not surprised Jackson acknowledged Ms Linda Ronstadt. She was (had) a knockout voice,, talent overload & such a cool chick,, a 1st class hippie l have loved & admire so so much.♥️🎶♥️🎶♥️
Beautiful...all these guys sound terricfic! I saw Jackson a few yrs ago in a smaller venue in Prescott, AZ - SO Good!! Listen to him, his voice is still amazing.
1974. The Tower Theater in Upper Darby Philadelphia. My friend was the bouncer and got me second row seats center stage. He had just released Late For The Sky. A great performance. The music scene in Philadelphia was great back then. In one fall I saw The Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Jethro Tull, Jackson Browne, The Allman Brothers, Doc Watson, (Springsteen used to hang out and just walk on stage at a place called the Main Point), James Taylor-all at the absolute height of their talents.
Jackson Browne also wrote over 100 songs, some for artists you'd never guess. (Dawes, Jan Ardin,). Oh yes, songs in soundtracks to movies, too -- Reign Over Me, Taxi, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, 5B, Forrest Gump, many more. Collaborated with many -- Katy Segal (from Married With Children) Curtis Stigers, Bonnie Raitt, Keb MO, T Bone Burnett -- many of which most of the general public is clueless. The many concerts for a good cause, the $ he donates to private and public organizations. . . He is quiet and humble, making only the music visible. But there is soo much more to Jackson!
Awesome!!! Nothiing more I can say ... except great music will last. I just love the lyrics and spirit of Rock Me On The Water, I always have and will :)
As great as a song writer and musician he is, I cannot agree on that one. Linda made this song the way it was intended to sound. Her voice and rhythm is like nothing else.
TECAwards. Who is the man banging on pots and pans. Do you remember how Jackson's drummer played not only on boxes but on a box covered with a blanket , in Australia , if I remember correctly.
Where is Rosemary Butler? Jackson browne's phenomenal backup singer. I don't see her. I love Rosemary. In my opinion...Rosemary is Jackson Browne's backbone.
Dontcha just love modern electronics, both audio and video, to create such a great piece. And find Jesus. Choose Life. Choose Jesus. NOW. While you still can because time is running out.
Jackson, you've never left it to somebody other than you to be the one to care. Bless you for it.
He left it to Tom Petty to care, who didn't.

A real musician who stands the test of times..
Jackson Browne is a treasure. He is so so underrated. Simply brilliant.
A beautiful classic, still amazing.
...(very possibly) the Greatest 'rhythm section' Ever: Leland Sklar (bass) & Russ Kunkle on drums.....MAMA !!!
You can’t leave out Kotch...Danny Kotchmar on guitar!!
For sure
Craig Doerge on keys
We surely loved this band alongside Jackson B.
All these songs bring tears to my eyes.
@Michael M. Glad to hear that

Best damn concert I ever attended was a Jackson Browne concert quite a few years ago.

Praise your work and words
Thanks Jackson for all you do.
Jackson Browne also wrote Take it Easy" along with Glenn Fry from the Eagles.

The musical history on that stage makes me get goosebumps

Let's not ever forget "Doctor my eyes" Skydrifter @--}--}-
how do up vote this more than once!
Yay Lee Sklar
Hoping that Jackson Browne is recovering from Covid-19.
wow.....
The only thing missing IMHO is Crosby and Nash on background on background vocals....
The backing vocal are Venice band
My brother
Real music....... take note(yes pun intended)
In my opinion, best versions of RMOTW: Brewer and Shipley, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Brown, the end.
An old buddy went to high school with him. Some stories ...
I'd be greatly to rock you on the water, Clyde.
If Clyde Browne and Bonnie Raitt were to ever form a band, what name should they choose, I wonder?

Wasn't Waddy Wachtel part of the "Session"?
He is an addition to the original guys.
The Section

Love this but that snare is not the sound of "The Section"
Russ Kunkel created the best drum fill of all time.......with brushes.
M. Maiser. Southern Sem! 👍👌😎
Are the backing singers from the group Venice
Naturally Ms Linda Ronstadt had to tell them how to do it right ❣️💕💕💕💕
grandissimo loner.....

Me too. Was born there but living elsewhere right now. I will go back again for another visit soon.

Looks like a strat neck, but can anybody identify what guitar is JB playing?
Either a Jaguar or a Jazzmaster, both fine Fender guitars
Dan Stevens Neither! Not even a Fender imho
plenty water in australia

Once Linda gets ahold of a song, it's impossible to get it back. Good effort though.
Somebody needs to get Santa Claus to shave or trim that beard, he makes the band look like a nursing home crowd.
Lee Sklar is the god of bass players. Mere mortals don't tell him how he should look.
@@Kevin-mx1vi
And he works constantly!
Have some respect for one of the greatest bass players ever to grace a recording studio or stage. Mr Sklar does not play with his beard, you cretin.

Jackson left it for Tom Petty to care, who didn't.
Sadly jackson has lost his voice.
