the image stabilization and the quality of photo in low light of G7X Mark II is 👌
The reason it focuses with your hand behind the small object is because the camera can't see your face, primarily your eyes. The Face Detect works well and will follow focus on your face, which is a good thing for vlogging. So just move your face off frame and you're good to go for small objects.
Bob Roman- your feedback is GREAT!!! I tried taking my face out of the shot and still wouldn't focus on the small object- does the background need to be completely blank/bare?

Great camera pick. I was going to mention the hand trick for focusing on objects and then you did it.
Everyone always says lighting is everything and we recently bought a complete lighting kit ourselves.
Loved the comparison shots between the 2 camera's. Great video.

The hand trick works because you cover the face while face detection mode on.

Good camera and good choice! Check out the Lex and Los vlogs they use the same camera. We met them on our cruise and him and I spoke for days about vlogging and music for vlogs. Great people even and you would never know they were famous if you met them, very humble.

Chasing Life we love the GoPro for while we're out & about vlogging & also a Sony cam much like yours for sit down clogging.. but I'd like to have easier accessibility much like you! I'll still use the other 2 but I'm itching for a new toy! 😛

Good choice for vlogging. Small, beautiful color rendition, intuitive menu and controls, and performs well in low light. The Timelapse feature on the camera is my favorite. I would have wanted something wider like the Nikon DL 18-50mm which is yet to be released this December. 18mm would be great for wider background coverage. It has a bright OLED screen, helpful on a sunny day. The Nikon DL1850 also does not have an optical low pass filter which results in sharper images but if you are into the softer look for your videos then the G7X Mark II is just perfect. The Sony RX100 lineup is another option but the controls and tons of customization features is just not easy to use. To date, the G7X Mark II is by far still the best camera out there for vlogging. You will not regret your decision.

It has been a few days. Anything new? I am still torn between the GX7 Mark II, LX10 and RX100 V, What do you think?
Im really liking the camera- the only things I am not a fan of is the placement of the record button, when you are "selfie" filming, the record button is on the back and you have to reach around and feel for it- not a huge issue but I think they should have placed it up top. I think I can maybe put the record button the on touch screen which would help, but Im not sure. The only other thing is the sound quality is not as good as my older Sony but I dont think you would recognize it by watching my video. Maybe you can tell me...... Other then that- I love it, I can tell a huge difference between my old vids and my Thanksgiving vid, which was 100% my new canon. I think Canon GX7 is a great stepping stone to be used for a while and as my channel hopefully grows then I will upgrade- probably more then you wanted, but there it is! The color look so good on the G7x. I went to the store that you mentioned; looking for light deals. As you mention, they look expensive and I might be better off getting another lighting kit. After deep thought, I realized I will be better off getting the more expansive one so I can use it for business purpose. I will get it online since I wont have to pay tax if i get it online. Thanks for uploading the G7x video, I will look out for more video from that new camera.
Classic Man Vlogs- yeah if your business requires special lighting then you may want to invest more into it. check out my link below for my lighting just for comparison purposes. AutoFocus difference is that Canon use face detection priority and Sony does not.
Personally I think Canon products are the most user friendly over all.

I love this camera!!! its small and easy to use- I think it really uped my quality of my videos- check out my Thanksgiving video its the first time I really put it to use!!

Chasing Life we have a Panasonic FZ 200. But quality is just 1080 and sound is not so good.
I will have to say the sound with the G7 is a little less par then my old sony but if you are not comparing against something you may not notice. Good Luck with your search- would love to know what you end up with!

I would prefer the Sony but I will say the GX7 MK II is amazing and has features that the Sony would be ashamed of not having xD excellent choice & can't wait to see how the quality will be from now on :))

Glad it was helpful and welcome to youtube! I really just use any memory card, I order them off Amazon and get the ones with the largest memory storage.

I've only had mine not long ago and really like it (it's better than using my iPhone!) Really like how you used two cameras at the same time to compare, great idea and you could definitely tell the difference. I agree about it not able to focus on something close to lens unless you press in on viewfinder? I didn't know you could do that until you showed us ha. Thanks for sharing I enjoyed it! Xh

Awesome quality on the G7X II! Have you had any other issues with it? The G7X had a lot of issues, I hope they fixed with the II
I havent had any issues, I like the size and use of it, the only thing I would change is where the power button is versus the record button, but other then that I really enjoy this camera!

Thanks for watching, Im glad it was helpful! I would say my only hang up is the position of the on off switch and the record button, I tend to mix them up all the time, but that could just be me. Other then that, I really am enjoying this camera and feel its easy to carry around and use. Check out some of my other videos just to see the video quality. Good Luck to you!

Of both the Sony and the Canon which camera has better auto focus on the face and which has better audio of the two. Of what I've heard in many camera test videos the audio seems to sound better on the canon and the stick over windscreen does eliminate wind noise but for some reason the audio sound warmer and richer. Is this true or just my bad headphones :) Nice video BTW... Subscribed!

Great review. I got my G7x the other day and can't seem to connect/upload videos to my computer.. it lets me for pictures but not videos. Any tips?
Lorena, I had this happen once and it seemed to be related to a certian memory card. It wouldnt upload the video until I opened imovie and then I could get the videos that way. so it may just be your memory card. Sorry I couldnt be more help. But Im glad you stopped by, enjoy your new camera!!

thats a good question- by brother in law started out with the Sony, I have always been Cannon with my small go to camera. Now I do have a second camera which is a Sony (not the one in this video) that I bought specifically for shooting my daughters soccer games. I think its all about what you are buying the camera for and how it meets your needs. Thanks for stoping by- sorry I cant be much more help.
I might end up getting the RX100 V, coz of higher frame rate option 120fps, which makes really cool cinematic shots

hey i have a question when u were sitting down with the lights the camera quality was AMAZING. u didnt buy a ring light? do u recommend one for like giving tips and beauty advice?
Id recommend the D-light for everyone, but its really expensive. I have made do with my current lights for now and hope to get a D-light soon. So I guess my answer is do what you can afford!

I honestly think you are right! As much as I love mine, there are some things I would change.
It would need to be small like this one, a flip up screen, better low light sensor and a good image stabilization
