    What's up everyone! I wanted to put this video together to help people decide between the Canon M6, SL2 and G7 X Mark II. Let me know what you think about this video and the format. Which features do you like and which are not important to you. I'm super interested in which of these cameras you think would be best for you and why. Grateful for your feedback as well, good or bad.

      Hi Elvie, thank you for watching.
      Alright, so let's start with the basics, what will you be using the camera for?

    • @elviejalotjot4251
      @elviejalotjot4251 6 років тому

      Tech Gear Talk oh you replied! Really! That’s awesome! Nyway, i really have this passion for photography. I want to take pictures like those pics of ocean, mountains, my daughter when she will have her taekwondo promotion. I want my camera to be handy but i want to learn also those with different lenses. Quite confusing right?

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      Ok. So it doesn't sound like you'll be doing a lot of video, so an external mic input is not super important to you (but think about whether that is something you may want in the future).
      You can learn on any of them. They all have full auto mode AND they all have full manual mode where you have to choose the settings. They will also give you the ability to shoot aperture priority and shutter priority. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/PuE6wADvnAY/v-deo.html It's an early one that I created so I'm sorry if I talk a little slow :)
      As far as interchangeable lenses, it's not so confusing once you learn the basics, BUT, it is more expensive. The range on the G7 X MK II is usually good enough for beginners. Mostly people will want to go wider or add telephoto later on, which is the advantage of buying a camera with interchangeable lenses, so that you can continue to build.
      Once you watch that video, let's continue to answer any questions that you have.

    Amazingly helpful video. As a UA-camr myself I've been doing all my videos on phones up to this point, so it looks like the SL2 will be the winner for me now.

    Some features of the G7XM2 that are rarely talked about:
    1. Built-in 3-stop ND filter; helps you shoot wide open for better bokeh even in broad daylight
    2. Spiral leaf shutter (YES!); gets you a flash sync speed of 1/2000 second, great for daylight or evening HSS shots
    3. BSI-CMOS Sensor; Coupled with the fast F1.8 lens, gives unbeatable lowlight performance
    It does have cons like low contrast (compared to the APS-C lineup) and a weird greenish white balance that comes as default.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +1

      VERY solid points. Thank you so much for taking the time to contribute.
      People who understand, appreciate the built in nd filter so much. In my C100mkii I use it all the time.

      Can I ask you where you read that the g7xm2 has the Spiral leaf shutter?

    • @floridahiker1503
      @floridahiker1503 5 років тому +1

      @@raspberry5286 . I was curious too. I read it on a DP forum. From what I read you can tell by the flash sync speed of 1/2000 for the g7x mk ii has a leaf shutter and 1/200 for the SL2 has a focal plane shutter. The Sony a6300 flash sync speed is 1/160. G1X MK III is 1/2000. Focal plane shutters can't sync flash at fast speeds but the manuals don't say leaf or focal plane so its confusing.

    • @raspberry5286

      Oh, but actually I do have a question. Do all the cameras have the same low light filming capabilities?

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +1

      The M6 and SL2 will do better in low light because of the larger sensor. Again, we're dealing with degrees here so "better" also is a question of how low is the light, etc.
      Can you give me an idea of a situation where you'll be recording? (because there is a lot to say for the size of the G7XMKII for vlogging)

      Tech Gear Talk I ended up picking up the Canon SL2 earlier today from bestbuy (couldn't wait for shipping lol)🤗 Absolutley love it so far. I ended up going for it because of the remote connectivity for video and I like that it uses full size lenses. This was the perfect upgrade from my OG Canon Eos M. Now going to use my old M for a secondary cam / b roll and / time lapse shots. Thanks again for the awesome video! This will be a perfect camera for the fam 😊✌👊

    Thanks so much for this video. This was a answer to my prayers. I am torn between g7x and sl2. I vlog and I do sit down videos like this one. Hi Sabrina! I'm so, so, so glad that this video was helpful to you. That is truly my goal. I know this is a big decision for people and I just hope I can make it a little easier. Yes, the SL2 is going to be awesome and you'll be able to re-purpose your existing lens (woohoo, save that money).
      Being able to use your cell phone to remotely monitor and shoot is awesome and is going to be so valuable to you!
      Great job on your channel by the way! I like the honesty and positive vibe you give off in your videos, and I appreciate that you get real even on super serious topics that some people avoid. I'm just starting out here so we'll see where this journey takes me.

      Well like everyone else, I too started off with the canon. But slowly as I looked and read up more about cameras, I found out sony is equally in par with canon. Being a sound designer, the main use of my camera will be to document the field sound recordings which I do. Some of which do take place in low light conditions.
      The canon sl2 has everything that I need. From external mic input, to flipscreen and a great auto focus capability. I don't really care about 4k although the fact that sony is providing me all these features (minus the flipout screen) plus 4k capabilities and better low light performance, I feel sony (a6300 to be specific) is a better option to go with.
      If I may request, I'd love to see a comparison between the Canon sl2 and the Sony a6300 on your channel sometime in the future. :)

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +1

      I'm actually reviewing the A6500 now. I'll get to the a6300. I would definitely recommend that you first get you hand on the Sony and the SL2 and see which "feels" better. Don't always go by specs. I'm not saying not to get the a6300 but only that you should be careful about just comparing specs. If you're always behind the camera, the flipout screen won't really matter to you. I really like the touch screen on the SL2, I don't believe the a6300.
      I'm impressed with the a6500 so far and I will definitely create a video for the a6300 when I get a chance. I need more time!! :) Autofocus is not as fast on the 6500 vs the Canon (0.05 vs 0.03) but I probably only notice that because I';m used to the Canon.
      Sony also has 120 fps so that's nice for slo-mo.

    one of the best comparisons in youtube. things should be discussed more in this video: lenses performances, G7x got a fast lenses which is incredible for low light even better than most lenses we can buy from M6 and SL2. for M6, you can use EF-M lenses. Focus peaking only available in M6 and G7x

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      Thank you very much for the kind words. OUTSTANDING point regarded lens performance. I'm pretty sure I discuss it in the detailed review but it was definitely something I should have mentioned here. For this price point having a 1.8 - 2.8 lens is killer. To your point, lenses that would compare to that, for the SL2 would be out of the range of the budget for most users would buy that camera.
      Focus peaking is also a good point and definitely a feature I did not mention.
      I SO VERY MUCH appreciate your feedback!! It's the only way I can make better reviews. Thank you for taking the time.
      What do you use?

    • @luckynever8208
      @luckynever8208 6 років тому

      I got a G7xm2 and a 600d and planning to buy a new m6/sl2/t7i. For those who do not need an external mic while vlogging, g7x series is really a fantastic choice. M6 does have some advantages when it comes to lenses, size, weight and portability compared to dslr, the focus peaking maybe quite useful when it comes to manual lenses too.
      However when it comes to video quality, nothing compared to your C100 M2 4k. :) For a complete package, i guess i have to wait until Canon hit 4k in their consumer markets maybe 2019/2020.

      I also think the g7X is a great option if you don't need an external mic. It's so compact, you can easily throw it in your pocket and go anywhere. And I do believe that most people won't need other lenses (maybe it would be nice to go a little wider for handheld, but you can always hold a small tripod to add a little distance.
      Do you think 4k is that important? I think it may still be 5 years away from being widely used.

    • @luckynever8208
      @luckynever8208 6 років тому

      Yea a little wider does help a lot for most vloggers but they are usually very slow lenses that may not be that ideal for low light videography.
      I don't think 4k will be that widely used anytime soon in consumer level because most flagships smartphones are still 1080p/1440p. It will take like you mentioned 5-10 years for majority of people to jump into the 4k boat. However, 4k is quite important for mid to high end productions, you can crop and spilt shots, the professional look just cannot be done without 4k.
      I think you got a lot of potential to be a big tech reviewer in the future. Your in-depth reviews are really helpful for potential buyers like me. One thing I would definitely like to see are footages comparisons (mainly video quality ,audio quality and low light performances) between the cameras.

    🤔. The way you explain each detail makes me rethink either M6 or SL2. Auto focus on both cameras look great. I have a Rebel T3 but no display that comes out. I prolly go with M6 cuz it’s smaller. Thank your the info.

    Thank you very much, This have been the Best review by far as seen on these cameras, And of course I subscribed, I have a UA-cam channel, And I'm thinking about upgrading to the SL2, Because of the smartphone control when you're videotaping, I was wondering if this camera could pick up the shine when you're filming shinier materials, The camera that I use right now doesn't, So I don't know if it's the lens, The camera, Or the settings, If you have any idea what would give me shine let me know, Thanks.

      If control is your number one priority, you may want to look at the M50 (ua-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/v-deo.html).

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      Ok, that helps!
      1. You can control with both the SL2 and the M50 (that I linked to). The M50 has full control and the SL2 will have pretty good control over the video (ua-cam.com/video/WEQtH8hh8dM/v-deo.html).
      The M50 lets you change focus point which is really nice.
      2. As far as the shine. That I think has to do with 2 things. Lighting and exposure. With these cameras, you'll be able to better control exposure (and you'll also have better dynamic range). If you need help understanding exposure, check this out: ua-cam.com/video/PuE6wADvnAY/v-deo.html
      I made it for photography but the same holds true for video.
      I hope this is being helpful. If you have more questions after watching the videos, let me know and we can continue!

      The M6 uses the liveview at all times since there is no viewfinder (you can buy an electronic view finder if you want one). So you're always seeing a preview of what it would look like and the settings you selected.

    New subscriber and credit where credit is due, your review was very complete and informative!
    I want to start vlogging, mainly outdoors and often windy so stabilisation and external audio is probably high on the list.
    - Does the G7XMkll have wind cancellation built in or is it not the same kind of reduction as an external mic.?
    - The SL2 doesn't have image stabiliser but does have a faster auto focus. With a 3 axis Gimbal does that equal or better image stabilisation?
    - How does the GoPro 6 compare with these 3 cameras.?
    - Do you notice the difference with weight of all 3 cameras?

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      Thank you so much for the kind words Derek!
      1. if audio quality is important, and you don't plan on using an external recorder, get rid of the G7XMKII (I love that camera, but that is a weakness)
      2. You're always going to want a 3 axis gimbal (if you can afford one). The in-body image stabilization in cameras is nowhere near as good as what the gimbal will provide.
      3. no GoPro
      4. Sure. The G7XMKII is so small and light. You'll definitely notice a difference.
      I would not get the M6 at this point but look at the M50 instead: ua-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/v-deo.html

      Tech Gear, that helps a lot! To be honest, your reviews to date are exactly what the beginner to intermediate (me) requires, so as to eliminate expensive mistakes!. Simple things like the external mic attached on the M6 but cant use the flip screen is a point we wouldn't consider until it is too late!
      I'm leaning towards the SL2, have already watched your in depth review. I especially like the fact that in the future, it is possible to insert a different lens and that total weight is still just 2lbs!
      Good shout regarding the Gimbal, which type would you recommend?
      Also what would you recommend for a wind reduction external mic.?
      I appreciate your fast response, keep the reviews coming!
      Have you done any video editing reviews yet? If so what do you use or recommend?

      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      I'm glad. The SL2 video has some gimbals in the description. Also check out the MOZA Air or Air cross from Gudson. (I'll add links soon)
      As far a a mic, look at Rode and make sure you get a deadcat. The Rode VideoMic Pro+ is awesome if it's in your budget. If you want to wait a few days, I'm reviewing their whole line of videomics and will publish soon.

    Great comparison, building nicely on the original in depth reviews. I’m curious about how you rigged the jobs tripod/flash plate on the M6. Mine refuses to lock out without something between the jobs and the extension plate.? Second question, what are you capturing your footage on with all three in your hands? How does that setup compare? For me, the M6 was my first choice - just better bang for the money compared to the gx7 . Sl2 wasn’t out and I added an 80d to the mix. ( be great to see you review the m6, 80d and 6D mark 2 as a level up.... and then the 6d2 , 5d4 and a 1dx2 at the premium end...😁

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +1

      Hi Peter. Thanks for the feedback.
      I start out by putting the mic on the flash plate so that I know how much space I have to work with. Then, I attach the Joby plate to the bottom of the other screw on the bracket (the one that slides). It has a 1/4 20 socket on the bottom. Then I put the M6 on and tighten it, then put it on the Joby. AND I just realized how easy this would be to show you in a video so please let me know if that made any sense at all!
      I capture footage with a couple of C100MKIIs. It doesn't really compare to be honest. I'd be putting up cinema cameras with lenses that cost more than any of the setups in that review with a small DLSR and 2 mirrorless cameras. So it's just not fair. At the same time, the setup I use is not portable or light. I would be super annoyed if I had to drag it around with me. The tripods are heavy, so are the cameras and the lenses. So they aren't really meant for the same use.
      I'll tell you what, I would love to have dual-pixel autofocus with tracking, but I would need to upgrade to C200s.... so.... unless 2 of those fall out of the sky...
      The M6 is a great choice for sure. I'll see if I can get my hands on the cameras you mentioned as I continue to add reviews this year. Again, as always, I very much appreciate the feedback 🙏

    • @TechGearTalk

      The quality would be similar. If I showed you 10 pictures and 10 clips, you wouldn't know which came from which camera. EF/EF-S lenses give you a lot more options. Sigma now makes 3 good ef-m lenses which is nice.

      I may decide to go with the M100 due to its very compact size even if it lacks the video control features on the app. I hope you get a chance to review the M100, i would love to see your thought on it. The SL2 still may be the one i go with seeing how it is also a pretty small body as well. And then there is the new M50 to consider as well. I want to make videos that will mostly be me in a controlled setting in front of the camera taking a look at statues and art pieces, but i also attend a lot of conventions and shows that i thought the smaller size of the M100 would be more convenient for shooting video on the go.

There seems to be no way to control the camera from a computer via USB. I also tried the EOS utility 2, which looks more like the old EOS utility, but it wouldn't even recognize the M6. If this is the case, it's a step backward considering that a old EOS 7D can be operated remotely. Any ideas? I am still hoping that I may be doing something wrong.

If you look at the description of this video: ua-cam.com/video/r4pZQepv4r4/v-deo.html you will see links to the body + a 15-45mm (which I use in the review). That is a really good starting point.
      You can also check out the G7 X MKII ua-cam.com/video/wiMSM7M2otQ/v-deo.html if you want something even smaller and don't need an external mic input, or interchangeable lenses.
      Let me know if you have any questions.

      Let me do a little research. I have not reviewed any Fuji mirrorless cameras yet, but I will very soon. Right now I'm using a few of the newer Sony mirrorless cameras. If you're a subscriber to this channel you'll see those reviews come up soon and the Fuji ones later this year.
      What makes you want to go with Fuji?

    • @manishmagar5012

      I don't have a specific reason, the only thing is Fuji's body is classic and pretty much better.
      I just want to choose the best camera for me so it's better to have more option while choosing.
      Anyway thanks for replying and helping me out ☺️

    • @jamal_alkeldy
      @jamal_alkeldy 6 років тому

      I totally agree with you!
      I'd say this is the best comparison vidoe I've watched so far and it included all the great cameras that are under my budget. I would have loved Sony's RX100 Mrk5 to be in there but again, I love Canon the most.
      Among the three cameras, I love SL2 the most, however, for portability purposes, I think I am leaning towards the Canon M6.. I would miss out, but it would be a lot easier for me to carry around especially with the region I am in. It would be more socially acceptable to have the M6!

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +1

      You bring up such a good point. The best camera is the one you have with you. No spec or features matters if you end up leaving the camera at home!! People are always asking about the "the best" but for me it comes down to how you use it. That will determine what is best for you. I really like that you have already understood that. It will make your search a lot easier.
      I LOVE the M6. It's small, powerful, and if it's more acceptable socially, that's a big point. Where are you located?

  • @DayakDreams

    VERY COMPREHENSIVE! I am now a subscriber.
    I realize this is an older review but still I want to point out that on the M6, you can use an external mic in the hot shoe-You just can't flip the screen all the way up. You can still have some versatility, like pointing the screen upward to look down at it, or flip it downward to hold the camera up high and see the screen.
    More importantly, You can use bluetooth to to operate the shutter remotely AND start and stop movies. But, with BT, that's all you get.

    I can't decide!!!! I have gone back and forth on the Sl2 and M6 for weeks!
    I did notice something and wanted your opinion on it. Although the M6 makes you mount the mic to the side, it's completely out of the way of the monitor. Unlike the Sl2 where if you attach a mic AND use the monitor (lense side facing), the cord to the mic is in the way of it.
    Any thoughts on this? Or maybe a way around it. Because even if you found a mic that doesn't have an obnoxious chord, the flap/door to access the mic port would be in the way of the screen.
    Am I thinking way to much into this? Would it probably not bother as much as I'm thinking?
    Thanks!

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +1

      Hi Courtney, thank you for watching!
      Alright, let's get to it. Fact: the mic cable on the SL2 my block some of the screen and is more of a "thing" you have to keep in mind. But it's certainly not a big deal if that's the camera you want. I don't actually watch myself in the monitor because I'm looking at the lens (otherwise it looks like I'm talking to someone else). It's more to make sure that I'm framed correctly, at which point, it's not really a problem. And as you mentioned, there is the flap/door thing in the way regardless. And all mics will have cords, even the wireless lav I use, because the receiver has to connect to the cameras.
      What are the other aspects that are impacting your choice?

    • @toothpickpiggy
      @toothpickpiggy 6 років тому +1

      I finally did decide on which one I wanted. I'm going with the M6. Biggest decision is that it goes from 9 (SL2) auto focus points to 45 (M6) of them. It's lighter, only by a tiny bit, but still lighter. And personally, I just love the set up of the M6. I'm moving to Guatemala and so I love how tiny and portable the M6 is. But still such an amazing camera jam-packed with everything I need PLUS upgrades from the camera I have now. (Rebel T3)
      Thank you so much for commenting back. I greatly appreciate it!

    How'd you compare the aperture of G7X and standard lens of M6?

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      it's a complicated question because of the difference in sensor size.
      You would have to divide by the crop factor. Essentially, at the same "aperture number" the G7xmkii is getting less light. (crop factor is 2.73 for g7xmkii and 1.6 for m6

      I was considering either one of these three, actually. As a result of the video I have now ruled out the G7X. My initial leaning was towards the 200D but I'm rather tempted by the size/functionality compromise of the M6 now.... :-) Decisions, decisions.....

      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      Ha! there's no perfect camera right? If you don't care about the remote control for video, the M6 is awesome. If you need it, I'd go SL2.
      What do you plan on using it for?

      Tech Gear Talk A bit of everything but mainly photos I suppose.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      From a specs perspective, both will do a great job. Some photographers appreciate the handling of a dslr and the viewfinder so the SL2 is a good fit.
      Others will appreciate the portability and size of the M6.
      Both will do a great job so it's really what you think would work better to the specific way you do photography. If you're happy to put a camera in your pocket and go, the M6 is awesome. But you do have to get used to not shooting with a viewfinder. It's ok for most things, but for portraits, some people prefer to look through a viewfinder (and of course there is no problem with lights/reflection)

      I’m pretty sure RF is for full frame so I don’t know if that makes sense. They just need a MUCH better selection of Ef-m lenses. There are third party options with manual focus. Otherwise you’re looking at a Ed/EF-S adapter. Curious to see where that goes. Love the a6500

      The G7XMKII has a 1" sensor whereas the other 2 have a larger APS-C sensor which will do better in low light.

    • @JBearWjbc1924
      @JBearWjbc1924 6 років тому

      not necessarily if in the event I have to vlog at night. its more of a travel camera that I don't have I use my phone which has limited mem and limited bat life and the quality of video and pics has so much noise.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +1

      yes, that is because of the small sensor on the phone. I would recommend that if you record at night, just make sure there is enough light. Otherwise, the SL2 and M6 will do better than the G7X but the G7X will do better than your phone.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +2

      The IS on the g7xmkii and m6 is better than the SL2 in my opinion. BUT, that is still relative right? So, if you want REALLY smooth video you'll still want a gimbal, but if you're ok with the vlogging "look" of some camera motion, the two I mentioned are slightly better. They are also smaller, especially the g7xmkii. Of course you can't have an external mic on those so there is that (but I know people who easily get by without one).
      I would go to a store and hold all 3, you'll know immediately.

    • @TeamHokage
      @TeamHokage 6 років тому

      Tech Gear Talk That's really helpful! Final question, But how about battery life which one lasts long?

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +2

      the major difference here is this. The SL2, for photography, gives you the option to use a viewfinder. That means the screen doesn't have to be on all the time and it saves you battery live. For video, all 3 of them need liveview so the screen is always on and uses up the battery. You're going to want multiple batteries regardless if you plan on shooting a lot of video (they are not expensive).
      So if you're only doing photography, you can make the SL2 last longer, but for video like I said, you'll want more than one battery if you plan on shooting for a long time.

    Low light performance is the biggest point for me. And the warm up/response time. GX 7 Mark II is pocketable but is fragile its not actualy weaterproof, shockproof or any proof. Also GX 7 Mark II have the worst warm up/response time of the rest. Because have to open up the lenses each and every time. If you put it into your pocket its supposed to carry it outside. Otwerwise you will not have the need to pocket it. And if you use the camera indoors it doesnt matter that much the size. Action cams are good to be pocketed and dive with them. GX 7 Mark II is not action cam. Olympus TG-5 for hardcore adventures, M6 in low light scenarios and Sony AX 53 camcorder. One gorilla quadpod and that is the combination for me.

      Hi, thanks for watching. I was using a Rode videomicro (here is a review of the complete lineup for some other options: ua-cam.com/video/hE84RCziiv8/v-deo.html) I then used a bracket you can find in the description and a JOBY gorillapod.
      Does that help?

      Tech Gear Talk will do. Great explanation you have 😊 means a lot esp to beginners (like me 😁) I'd go for sl2. Thanks again! 😊

      More for vlogging and less n taking pictures. Did i make the right choice? 😁 'cause i'm also considering M6... This will be my first camera if ever and might upgrade to a pro cam only if I feel like a "pro" already 😂

      I would go with the SL2 over the M6 because of the canon camera connect functionality. However, check this one out Canon M50 Mirrorless Camera: Ultimate Review ua-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/v-deo.html let me know what you think.

    Hey there!!! I have a question to you... im confused if i buy the m6 or the sl2... In portugal its 200D WTV HAHAHA so my question is...wich one is better for nature photograph (and pearsons 2) and cinematic videos also in nature? obvius the photos and videos would be edited at lightroom.

      Hi, thanks for watching.
      The SL2 is a better camera if you're simply looking at image quality. It has a larger sensor and it can use much better lenses.
      Now, that is only talking about what it "could" do. Then it comes down to the user. Are you going to buy those better lenses and do you (at this point) know how to use it well enough to justify the increase in price (of the body + better lenses).
      What the SL2 lets you do is buy a body and then slowly start buying lenses. Then, when (if) you are ready in a few years, you can buy a better body and keep using the same lenses (I use lenses from 10 years ago still).
      I hope this helps.

      Tech Gear Talk thank you so much for the help... In Portugal we call it 200D... Its much cheaper than the m6... I went to this site cameradecision.com/search and compared the m6 to the sl2 and at some points it says that the m6 is better so I was thinking if the difference of the price would worth it or not... But yeah you are very right about the lenses part... But you worked with those 2 cameras, the sl2 + 18-55mm as a better quality image and vídeo? The 18-55mm comes with stabilization?

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому +1

      First, I made a mistake. I mis-read what you wrote (I was talking about G7XMKII vs SL2).
      Technically, you can use the same lenses with the M6 and the SL2 (the M6 would require an adapter). I wouldn't count on websites like the one you mentioned, they are simply comparing specs which has nothing to do with real-life use of the camera (unless the discrepancy is huge)
      Those are 2 really nice camera. I would actually get the M50 over the M6 (ua-cam.com/video/luYV0dTxoWE/v-deo.html) and there are some great deal on it now.
      Yes, you'll have in-lens IS (image stabilization) but don't forget that we're talking about fairly minor stabilization. For best results, for video, you'll want a 3-axis gimbal (there are some links in the description).
      Sorry for the confusion.

      Tech Gear Talk so.... After all... Sl2, m6 or m50? Wich one would u choose?? And the fact the sl2 costs 590€ and the m6 and m50 costs 750€

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      I would probably pick up the SL2 if it were me. But if I wanted the most portable one then the M50. M6 is obsolete at this point

      @@TechGearTalk sl2 is great in small package and 1080p in 60 with dual focus for video most likely fine.

      Tech Gear Talk i did have one more question i was going more towards canon g7x mark II , since it has better lighting in the dark, although the audio isn’t that great. I just finished seeing your review in the EOS M50 and i love the camera! The quality of video and picture is amazing! Does the M50 have issues with dark lighting? Say I’m filming in a room that doesn’t have great lighting

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      Great question. It's going to be a function of the aperture of the lens. The largest the aperture (low number) the more light you'll get.
      Having said that, every camera does better with more light. Your best bet (without me having more info) is to improve the lighting in the room. That is the best, best, best thing which most people miss. Even cheap lighting helps a ton!

    Hi, amazing video with love from India
    I am confused between Canon G7x ii and M6.
    I need a camera for vlogging and I am torn between the two because of the aperture, Since G7X has 1.8 and the kit lens of M6 offers 3.5
    Help me out

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      Thank you for the comment. A few things. 1. the G7X is a 1.8 - 2.8 which means the aperture will be somewhere between these 2 numbers depending on focal length. The M6 offers interchangeable lenses, so technically the 3.5 is the widest aperture of the kit lens that I used, but you can get lenses with a wider aperture than that.
      2. The impact of aperture is also a function of the sensor size, so it's not quite as simple as comparing the numbers. The M6 will require less light to get the same exposure. So you also have to multiple the aperture by the crop factor to make a more fair comparison.
      Have you looked at the M50?
      Do you want an external microphone?

    • @siddhantdance
      @siddhantdance 6 років тому

      Tech Gear Talk Yeah I have the thing is I’m getting G7X and M6 for the same price so just confused between the two and unable to decide, I’ll be fairly starting out fresh but then a lil better production since the starting won’t hurt much
      The only reason I’m considering G7X is because of the aperture otherwise M6 wins for me because of future capabilities and the fact it’s relatively a new camera and Dual AF is just a cherry on the cake.

    • @TechGearTalk
      @TechGearTalk  6 років тому

      The G7X is so small and portable. What I love about it is that you can literally take it anywhere!
      However, if you want better production value, at some point you will want an external microphone for better audio.
      Dual Pixel AF is SO NICE!!
