That one dude was hammering all the way to 60. Beast mode
Nah it was half the effort for letting gravity do the falling part of the rep, its not as impressive when you do a proper pushup

You don't need to join the Army to enjoy the many benefits of doing a proper push-up. A basic push up is an effective way to strengthen the chest and arm muscles and can be easily scaled as you get stronger. Simple push-ups require no equipment other than your own bodyweight and your arms, and they can be done anywhere there is a firm surface with enough space for you to stretch out flat in.
Assume a face-down prone position on the floor. Keep your feet together. Your weight should be on your chest.
Position hands palms-down on the floor, approximately shoulder width apart. They should be about next to your shoulders, with your elbows pointed towards your toes.
If you are on a relatively cushioned surface, such as a carpeted floor, you may also support yourself on your fists between the first and second knuckles for a greater challenge. If you are on a less forgiving surface, consider investing in some push-up grips, (they look like handles you put on the floor).
Curl your toes upward (towards your head). The balls of your feet should touch the ground.
Raise yourself using your arms. At this point, your weight should be supported by your hands and the balls of your feet. Make a straight line from your head to your heels, and contract your abdominals to keep your hips from sagging. This position is called a "plank," which is used for other various exercises.[1] This is the beginning and the end position of a single push up.
Pick the type of push up that works best for you. There are actually three types of basic push up variations that use different muscles. The difference is where you place your hands while in the plank position. The closer your hands are together, the more you will engage your triceps. The wider apart they are, the more you will engage your chest.
Regular: your hands should be slightly wider than your shoulders. This works both your arms and your chest.
Diamond: put your hands close together in a diamond shape, keep them directly under your chest. This will require you to engage your arms much more than a standard push up.[2]
Wide-arm: place your hands a good way's out from your shoulders. This version mostly works the chest and requires less strength in the arms.

hes not keeping the tension the the muscles when going down, when he goes down he just relax the arms dropping down then pushing up.. its way easier than normal push ups with time under tension

It's amazing how when you watch these videos and the recruit ones you see young men at the start with soft featrures. At the end of training they look hardened, tough and warriors! It's the same with the Para's. You can just tell that you wouldn't mess with the guys who pass this sort of military training and come out marines or para's. All credit to them for passing and the instructors who make them.

As a military member, I would love for all US branches to use this for their testing so lil goofies can't cheat. Can stand when dudes I know haven't seen the gym or gone on a run in the last decade tell me they got 100 pushups on their test. This would nip that in a bud real quick.
fuck lmao. They would have to take the competetive numbers lower and minimum lower.
@@ik5852 Yeah specifically for recruiting numbers honestly. Its looks a lot better for people to see marines doing only like 30 pushups and being perfectly fine to carry on. Recruiting numbers would be lower if the military did what it's supposed to do and hold everyone (No matter gender) to the same qualifications. The marines from my memory are expecting recruits at the very least be able 50 pushups but I may be incorrect. For women once again from my memory is lower, which is bs imo but whatever
01:50 this is how the perfect push ups looks like
I got 30, the burn.
Well done to the lads.
I'm in the gym fairly regularly and would struggle to knock out 13 of these things. Strict press ups with elbows tucked in is really not easy.
SeaJayB The waiting between reps is what would kill me. I can get to 30-35 strict pushups like their doing but I do them quite fast. I’d probably only get to 15 of theirs lol
@Carl Panzram 1 year later, can do a lot more push-ups and I’d still say the waiting kills me. It can be helpful to get a few more reps out but I’d still much rather go fast
@@mostunique5941 wbu now
@@maxpro8575 I’ve joined a commercial gym and just use weights instead of pushups.
Took a long break from working out, only been back at it for a month. I use bench as my pushups. Can bench 40kgs for 12 reps and 4 sets. Haven’t really bothered going heavier yet. I have no idea what my one rep would be
Your weight also very important, say you are 70kg and did 15 perfect form push up, it very impressive. I'm 40kg and already struggling to reach 15, if I reach 40 rep it's still not impressive as 70kg person would.

I don’t think this is repetitive of skill in this movement, because even though they went through made every one do two reps, one of the first guys to stand up was doing beautiful form compared to joe blow down the line who apparently never had to press his body off the ground at any point prior to this test. And because of the terrible form they were able to last far longer then arms along the lat form.
Dont know what you watched to think he was doing beautiful form.
Watch it again.
He's the guy they had to show how to do it.
Even after that the guy was drooping, while the test was going it was horrible.
I also think they kicked him off because he was going before he should have.
Going on the number and not the beep.
and some of them swing more than kther who control their movement better
The lad who scored 60 is smart and using the 'stretch reflex'. Go down fast to cause a wee elastic response in the muscles.
Stop acting like you know more then them 😂😂

4:39 the guy in the middle is dropping his pelvis, which during pushups reduces the percentage of your body weight that is lowered and raised by your shoulders. I don't know what the standards for this test are, perhaps they permit this, but we're to keep our body in a generally straight line during the US Army's fitness test (APFT), and otherwise, "proper pushup form" dictates a similar expectation. The other two guys, I believe, were the better athletes.
At any rate, those last three are nonetheless all impressive. I usually crank out 85+/- pushups on the APFT, however, we are given 120 seconds, these guys kept to a pace of approximately 1 pushup per second for a minute, and I personally usually do 55 within the first minute.
75 is all you need for a maximum score at any age for the APFT, so these guys likely would have blasted that 👏 that is to say kudos and well done.
I tried this today. I win over all counts.
