Child of the 50s living in a rural area. Rationing didn't end till 1954. We were all preppers in those days making sure we had enough basics to survive hard times, shortages and bad weather.

I used to do some work in the crisis preparedness field many years ago. With events a few years ago I started reviewing my home and lifestyle to be prepared in what i had previously thought was a safe normal life. My journey is still ongoing as my skills need to be improved.

Most people are preppers by default, if you have a spare loo roll in the bathroom then you are prepared 🙂
People, especially the MSM need to put people into boxes or label them.
As the UK's prepper community grows, more focus is being placed on us and our way of prepping rather than the US version and people are starting to see that it is basically common sense.
    Good video Ana 🙂

Another excellent short video from "She who knows!"
There are many aspects to this frugality and preparing malarkey which should be addressed. But what can just one girl do?
For me, i learn a lot from recipes or instruction short films, but i learn far more from the ETHICAL or LOGISTICAL side of the discussion!
Anna, you obviously research everything thats new to you, and i get the feeling that you top up on your knowledge base more often than most, so i think it is a waste to not spraad it to us, the great unwashed.
I ask if you can consider a few long-form talks! These dont need the set-up of props etc, but just all the good stuff you know put into a form we have come to appreciate about your work in the field.
Thank you. Im off now to fill my tum with cake!

For the people who don't keep their own hens, : Bird flu case confirmed on large poultry farm in Shropshire
    - Over one million hens will be culled
    - the disease was detected in 1.6 million layers on a farm near Wem
MIght be worth preserving some eggs and getting in some chicken. If this spreads, at best prices will go up and at worst, there may be shortages.

Thank you. It here has been few out brakes recently , poor chicks. Yes shortages are likely, funny enough they are having egg shortages in US due to same issue 🫤

@@AnasFoodLifestyle I have not bought eggs for two months now. The price is USD 7.99 per dozen; now shops limit two dozen limits.

If that’s free range than is similar to uk, decent eggs £3 for half a dozen

If prepping means not having to panic during an emergency Or shortage, then it's all worth the trouble and expense.❤😊

I learnt from American homesteaders. They were great for saving food and cooking food that you have grown. We ramped things up over the last few years because we bought a smallholding. Then again a lot of people don't have room to store food or unable to grow their own food. But if you have a healthy pantry it will be needed if you are ill for a period of time. Something I did a long time ago, then just replace as you use. Soup is good for illness because sometimes you don't want to eat - but you know you must! Growing has been a bit of a struggle the last couple of years with the weather (manipulated). We knew we had to stock up because of being cut off in snow, power outages and phone lines down bringing down the internet with it. We've had all of those! A little camp stove for when the power is out - and learn to cook on it!

Thank you Ana, I'm concerned for you all with the upcoming storms this week, supposed to be worse than the last one, time to move the hen house into the garage and batten down the garden, maybe less damage for you this time... stay safe please.

Local Home Bargains STILL has full price Christmas goodies. And plenty of them. Other shops are long emptied. If you are still looking for this stuff nearly into Feb, this is the place.

My prepping tip is to keep a list of each item and where it is stored,so you don't have to rummage about looking for stuff. Cross off any used items, add back when it is replaced etc.
And don't forget things like washing up liquid, laundry fluid shampoo, toothpaste and brushes, shower gel,wet wipes, dish cloths. Mundane things we take for granted until they run out!

Only a couple of houses on the Palisades L.A coastline left standing..... owned by preppers who were ready for a big fire. Says it all really. 👍
