I've used plastic bread clips to slip over the stems of beans, peas, herbs... I select for seed saving. This way I don't accidently harvest them for other purposes .

I live in rural Lincolnshire and not a single one of my 8 ft by 4 ft bed of dwarf French beans survived. I was blaming slugs, but eventually realised it was pigeons eating them as they poked their heads up!. Then they started on the leek bed, just crushing them and pulling out the grass-like seedlings, presumably for nest building - so we had to net the leeks. Pigeon pie might be on the menu when SHTF!.

Love to try gardening. Totally washed out here in Scotland.

Apart from the prepping shop in Calais, did you encounter any issues with migrant's trying to access your vehicle as many reports over the years.

In france, preserving and food prepping is still very very big. you cab buy pallets of glass jars and rubber seals and jar lids for very cheap prices.

Those slugs! I have put all my pots on sheep wool with a few bowls of ale and yeast dotted about and they have kept most off my plants

Yeahhh, thanks for this video....we are going back to France for Christmas....and a big prepping shop. The dauphinoise potatoes are delicious. The tinned haricot vert are the best also the flageolet beans great with roast lamb cooked on top....

Well, a belated Happy Birthday and God bless you! Thanks, such fun to see what is different there. I never cease to be amazed at the prices you show me. I can't imagine the quality of alcohol in France, esp. for that money! OHG! The canned/tinned foods available and the prices! We are hardly getting one tin of vegetables for the price of the ratatouille! We have no pates here. If there may be some in specialty import shops, can't imagine what they would cost. And the chocolate! We have some put away,(I have it vacuum-sealed;I hope it lasts), but I was looking for some decent one to make specialties and I almost fell over in the store the other day. I keep a pound and euro converter right on my computer.

Their BBF dates seem to be a lot longer than ours, longest I have found on my tinned food is 2026

What a great haul. I love to see what you can buy in foreign supermarkets. In the early-nineties, I used to take the car on the ferry to Calais or Boulogne to have a nice meal, wander around the supermarket and fill my car up with goodies to bring back. A lovely day out. Now, the closest I get to it, is the international food isle in Lidl.
