I see. I got the impression they're unbreakable since they never broke despite shooting pierce through his back several times, but now that I think about it I actually recall a couple times when I've broken the tail in the tunnel.

I can confirm his back, beard and tail can break in the tunnel (so everything but the horn). I do this with my bow all the time, break his tail first, then his back, then his beard. This is because after the beard he starts swimming faster and doesn't take breaks anymore, giving you more time to deal damage in the tunnel.
his tail can definitely break in the tunnel (I do it every time with blademaster). also his back can too but it's difficult to do since it has a lot of health and you are usually focusing on the beard. it's only his horns that can't break
Found out recently that I didn't have to knock off both horns to fend it off. I also learned that I am simply the worst at Great Lance. it's what I get for focusing on SnS Sleep bomb capping. this guy was a serious brick wall because I had to go completely out of my element to fight him.
I've always wondered: Is it possible to kill Ceadeus before it reaches the big chamber where the "final battle" begins? I'm guessing not, otherwise this video would have been even shorter as the guy could have just sat there at the beginning and kept firing away until it was dead. I'm guessing it won't go below a certain amount of HP until it enters the big chamber?
I see a lot of videos where people speed run with low health, the only advantage I can think of is potential but doesn't that cap at 33% health? Or actually the heroics skill, but that also caps at around the same amount of health.

Well, naturally, you are supposed to be weak on underwater by nature. I mean, naturally, It's Impossible to move like you do In MH3, and underwater monsters do their best underwater. Do not misunderstand, but It's kind of common knowledge...

None of his parts except for the beard can break in the tunnel phase, that's why I tried to leave as little work for the second phase as possible so that he won't flinch from horn/back breaks which both take several seconds. They can take damage in the tunnel though, then break from the first shot/hit later, so I fired the last 10 shots on his belly instead.
In all honesty, he is very easy to beat, he just has alot of health, he is so big when I block I dont have to be exact (I use gunlances) the balistas take him down pretty fast as well, not that fast though

Bounce bombs work like torpedos underwater they fly in the direction you are facing, the best use for ordinary barrel bombs is to send the enemy to sleep, place them all right next to it and then set them off as you get a damage bonus when they are sleeping. Hope that helps.
You have to set them off yourself. Hitting them with your weapon will set them off without hurting yourself too badly, but it's still better to use either an S barrel bomb that will set itself off after a short delay, a boomerang or bowgun/bow attacks. Also, bounce bombs will set themselves off after about a half a second, jumping into the air then exploding
Okay, first of all that was damned impressive secondly (this is probably a ridiculous question), how do you get the quest to battle him? Bear in mind I've got the mask. If anyone could clear this up for me me id be pretty grateful
well for the Ceadeus (offline) quest you need: 1. The repaired mask from the statue at the farm. 2. The basecamp repair request. you can get the mask before the camp (i know because i had and i think it is normal that way)
if you do it right it should do around 6000 damage every 4 shots, very close to 7000, the only weapon that surpass this is nether salvatore, close to 8000 damage every 4 shots (with the water siege mode glitch).

Hey, dude, I really wanna try monster hunter tri on the pc with the dolphin emulator, but I can't seem to find the hunter TRI anywhere that isn't a torrent site, such as pirate bay ,and I'm trying to stay off of the sites like those. Since I can't get online bosses into offline on the regular wii, I'd like to do that file switcharoo on the pc with this. Any help, please, and I know you probably won't know anything I'm saying cuz you probably have a wii u instead of a dolphin emulator pc thingy, hehe... I'm awkward.

If I remember correctly you can't, you can only get him down to 1 unit of health and then he'll die to the first hit in the second phase.

its called the crouching fire which is exclusive to heavy bowguns, it allows you to shoot without reloading

Chaosfire yes it was pierce shots, you can also use the Lucent narga hbg with a crit pierce set.
