    I made these today because I was curious to see if they were anything like flour tortillas. I’ve never tasted roti so I can’t make a comparison. I must say no they don’t taste like flour tortillas but very tasty. You can taste a hint of the oatmeal. I ate it with white rice and curry chicken, I couldn’t taste the oatmeal when I dipped it in the curry. I used quick oats and a coffee grinder to make the oat flour. I had a little difficulty rolling it out so I placed it in between parchment paper rolled it out gently removed one side and laid it back on the tortilla, flipped it and pressed down and gently removed the other side of the parchment paper due to it sticking and ripping a little. I don’t normally comment but I wanted to give people an opportunity to try it as well and if they had any difficulty with it that maybe this method would help.

    My wife was diagnosed with celiac disease about a year ago, its been hard for her to go gluten free because we both love tacos and sandwiches for the taste and convenience. Unlike most gluten free breads we've found this one uses simple healthy and inexpensive ingredients. You and your recipe are a godsend. Thank you.

    Hi Daal Pani. You inspired me today. Last couple of days, I've searched and tried multiple flatbread recipes made with different GF flours. I've decided to give a try your recipe. What happened is that my hands reached adding more ingredients into the dough. Here it goes: 1 cup Oat fl, 1/2 cup Oat meal, 2 tbsp Coconut oil, 1 tbsp Flax-seed meal, 1 tbsp Chia seeds, 1/4 cup ground walnuts, 1/8 tsp salt, 1 tbsp maple syrup, 1 cup hot water. With my tortilla presser, there are 9 rotis came out perfectly. One simple recipe of yours opened different variations; thank you for that. Next time I'll try with tahini. Have a wonderful bright day.

    It worked! I made this to use for lunch today and it was delicious. A hint of oat but since I wasn’t eating it on its own I barely noticed. What was there just enhanced the flavours.
    One tip though. I saw a comment mentioning how it was tearing and hard to roll so I went in prepared. When I was rolling it out I used oat flour to dust my surface LIBERALLY. I coated the rolling pin and after each roll, I coated the rotis and the rolling pin. The flour is your friend. I only realised how important it was after I had to re-roll my first one.

      I agree the dough was sticky, measurements shown in this video are incorrect, it should have been more than one cup for water coz oats are heavy and needs more water to absorb..
      or maybe the 1 cup of oats size is different to mine in the UK 🤣🤣1 cup is 237ml of oats, and 1 cup of water is 250ml

    • @tithisings
      @tithisings 2 роки тому

      It's not wrong! You actually need more water when working with oats because oat flour absorbs a lot more water than regular wheat flour does. If you used less water, then the rotis wouldn't end up being soft. And roti is meant to be soft. I think you just need a little more practise working with dough. I also used to be the same as you and couldn't work with wet dough because it was hard to do so. But a little practice goes a long way :)
