When her “damaged curls”are your curls on their best day🏃🏻‍♀️

    Tips:
    1. Cut out heat
    2. The big chop (trim heat damaged hair when possible)
    3. Find products for you (no sulfate it strips natural oil, and no silicons it coats hair in chemicals)
    4. Invest $$ in ur hair
    5. Deep conditioning
    6. Use tools to promote this journey (silk pillowcase, diffuser)
    7. Protective styles (braids, head wraps)

Could you try out cheap curl products which are curly girl approved because there are so many famous youtubers that just recommend random products that arent even good just so they have a drugstore version of a curly hair routine😢

the last time i flat ironed my hair was in february and it's now june. it's only been 4 months but it feels like i haven't touched one in years, and i keep getting tempted to flat iron my hair. it's sooo hard but worth it. i started off as a 2a/2b and now i'm 2c/3a/3b, and i haven't even finished my journey yet. I can't wait for the final results! 😁

    • @winnie-nd6db
      @winnie-nd6db 4 роки тому +5

@@toilettourist9669 hi! i'm on a different account now. it's been over a year since i've touched a straightener!
i'm about a 3a-3b depending on how i style my hair. basically what i did was get a proper haircut (jayme has a video on that, i asked for what jayme asks for and i got bouncier tighter curls instead of waves)
other basics like products, i use products designed for wavy hair because it's lighter on your curls so you can have maximum volume. i'm not heavy on products, i only use a cream and that's all i need.
i use sulfate products, always have always will. because i wash my hair every 5 days it needs a deep clean and sulfates do the job. i stay away from silicones though, as they weigh my hair down and my hair becomes a squeaky wavy slop when i use them.
i use a diffuser to dry my hair because i love how bouncy it makes my hair.
you need to try different techniques though, what works for me might not work for you. it's all about trial and error.
oh and my last tip: i sleep with a pineapple wrapped once only! it just preserves my curls better. if i tie it around more than once, i find i get very straight roots.
      hope this helped!

Winnie thank you so so much! I’m in the middle of the journey as well and my hair curl type ranges from 2A to 3A and it’s definitely frustrating! I have quite curly hair on my under layer, like 3a 3b, but it is so rubbish because my top layer does only 2a wich looks bad with my under layer, (not saying wavy is bad, just doesn’t look good with my under layer) do you think if I got my hair layers at the top it would help make it curlier?

2 words - Big Chop. Just chop it off to where your hair is curliest and wait for it to grow. Trying to curl heat damaged hair is like trying to make straight hair curly. It just won't happen. Protein treatments are great but don't overdo them, that will leave your hair brittle and dry. :)

That’s because the part that cuts off the damaged hair like the line of demarcation is the worst part, it is the least bit curly, you can cut it or just grow it out and trim off ends later

it is really worth it to invest in the good hair care products, your hair will thank you. If you are in UK there is a big selection on Naturalistic products website. They also ship worldwide. Watch some videos with recommendations first so you are more likely to choose the right products for your hair type. Another good place to look is T.K Maxx but it's very hit and miss. You have to know your ingredients and read the label. One brand they often have is Giovanni but not all are silicone free.

Hello Jayme, I came across your videos and I have to say it's truly inspiring. I started my hair transition journey this week and I have been learning from you on how to do it and hopefully in a year's time I will see a difference. The reason for this journey is because in the month of August, I decided to colour my hair but the hair stylist completely ruined it by leaving the bleach longer than usual, and that resulted in my waist length hair to be chopped up to my shoulders and ever since it's extremely dry. If it's not too much of trouble, could I please ask after how many months did you notice your hair was getting the curls back?

I know you might not see this but if you do, then here’s your answer... your hair is like that because it’s super heavy! I’m gonna guess you have thick hair as well! Basically when you cut it short your hair will be super curly like if you have 3a at the ends it’ll be most 3b and some 3a because it’s gonna be tighter and less heavy, the lighter your hair, the more the volume, and the more curling you’re able to have on top!

I section my hair and put my products in while my hair is dripping yet after I'm done my shower... I use a microfibre towel and scrunch my hair, I do everything everyone says but nothing helps the back of my head. I just started my hair journey a few months ago so it's still kinda damaged from dying and heat... will it change once it starts getting healthier...? I cut my hair 2 weeks ago, it was down to almost my butt now it's at my arm pit, I have layers so the front of may hair is at my shoulders and the back is longer.., should I cut it all to my shoulders..? Sorry for all the questions.

Mckenzie Thornton it is normal for transitioning hair to have different textures in different areas because some areas will be more damaged than others. Since you just started not too long ago don’t start freaking out yet you’ll see a change as time goes on (I’m talking almost a year or two) As for the hair cut curls usually do look better shaped with layers, it just all depends on the cut you’re going for

Try flipping your hair upside when you wash out conditioner in the shower! Also really pay extra attention to the back! Are you laying on it more are you leaning on it when driving or sitting? Do you scrunch through enough product?

Jayme Jo okay I'll try that, and yea I do lay on the back of my head a lot, and I only really put product on the ends/middle of my hair, I never really put any on the top of my head because I'm scared it'll make my hair oily... i guess it just depends on the product ..

Hi, so glad I stumbled on yr channel - really inspiring - pls keep the vids coming. I've always found that 50% of having great, curly hair is the cut and have been struggling for the last few years to find a good cutter in Melbourne, Aust. Any recommendations??

If you live somewhere like AU and got to beach often and expose to sun, what would be your advice to preserve the moisture and generally save your curls.
    Love you videos btw

Heey sweet Jayme, I absolutely love watching all your video's. You are so much fun and you know a great deal about your beautiful curly hair. I have a question about hair growth:
My hair used to be very long and more wavy, untill I cut it and discovered it was actually curly. I wish my hair would be as long as yours, but it gets stuck at a point where my hair gets really thin in the ends and I already have to trim it again.
Your aunt mentioned that your hair was really growing well, is it because of the combination of your natural shampoo's and deep conditioning DIY recipe? And did you also experience a similar issue that your ends get really thin and the top layer of the hair is also thinner than the rest?
And how often do you trim your hair?
Whaha sorry, that are a lot of questions! Thankyou in advance. Have a great day:D Greetings, Ayda

since your hair is so damn curly and great, can u gimme tips on why might the TOP of my hair wavy with tiny 280 curls then the other bottom half until dead bottom of neck, the hair is 360 perfect curls?.... little history: I had a buzz cut about 6/7 months ago and dyed it like an idiot/ bleach too about 20 times (not lying)…. what should I do, cut the damage off when its long enough or can they top hair be saved? I have low porosity hair btw

2:40 I know it seems weird, but with everyone, it seems the more damaged their hair is, the less it curls. My most damaged curls are damaged due to sun damage and friction, and they are super frizzy and curly, and my healthiest curls are super soft, silky 3a curls. It’s weird. So when my hair dries, the hair grows from my crown frizzes up and shrinks the most, making it look like a bad haircut:( I have been heat free for 3 years now (I only got 3 blow outs for super special occasions and that’s it) and I have made several short chops, even recently, but because that back-crown hair is sun damaged, it’s only about 4 inches healthy, and then just super rough and curly.

    • @ImNotCallingYouALiar
      @ImNotCallingYouALiar 5 років тому +1

My crown hair is also super sun damaged. I made the mistake of not using any leave in conditioners or heat protectants (I would just shampoo, condition, then go). I thought I didn't need it because well I wasn't straightening my hair.... Huge mistake! No matter what I was doing I just couldn't get that area back to normal so I ended up cutting off certain sections (so just specific curls that had inches up inches of damage) to the root. It looked really bad but I couldn't stand that it wouldn't get curly and it kept knotting up. Now Im taking better care of my hair and the sections I cut are growing out nice and healthy. The nice thing about big curly hair is you can hide the 1 inch sections growing out lol 😬 I don't recommend cutting it off like I did, but that was my last resort. I wanted to give those curls a "fresh start".
