This is the first time I've seen, or heard of a quickshifter for the 1200 scrambler! Nice. Cheers! (Edit) BTW Your audio setup on the bike is very good!
I've got a 2019 1200xc as well. I took delivery this past June; it had 1850 miles on it (press fleet) but because the title never changed hands from Triumph, it came to me as new with a full warranty. I just hit 10k miles on mine this past week (400 miles/week just in commuting to work and back really adds up). The TEC tail tidy is indeed a good mod. Much like yourself, my only gripe is the exhaust heat. I've entertained de-catting mine, but I've read that a baffle/diverter plate is needed to keep some back pressure up to maintain bottom end torque. My research indicates that an ECU reflash is NOT needed with a de-cat, but you do need to start it without touching the throttle (very important) and allow it to idle until the cooling fan comes on to allow the ECU to relearn the engine without the cat. I live in the Mojave desert, and have found the bike to be extremely good on asphalt, very good on hard-ball/packed dirt roads, and terrifying on sand any deeper that two inches. The Continental knobby tires that came on it (TKC80's as I recall) were not bad, but you could literally watch the knobs evaporate. The Shinko 705's I've been running since are a much better all around tire.
Hey Paul, 10,000 very cool. I did not do the diverter plate suggested by Tech and Meerkat. I have not noticed any lack of low end power. If I take the traction control off, I have no problem doing power wheelies is 2nd gear. I did add a booster plug and did the 20 minute tune. It did help a little making the fueling smoother in first gear. I'm going to go with a DNK tune, which all but eliminates the fueling issue, so there is no need for the booster plug. Performance gains are quite substantial. I will definitely do a video on the tune install. Still on the stock Metzeler's.... not sure what tire I will go with once these are done... I have to see how much trail riding I will do. It handles so well on the road, I do love this bike so. Mojave desert, I'm so jealous.... ride safe... be safe.
@@Yo-Ken I'm looking forward to your evaluation of the DNK tune. I've been putting-off getting the power plug, and if the tune is a better option, I'll certainly move in that direction.
Great review! I have the identical bike with the showcase package and love it after 3,400 miles! All 3,400 miles have been logged in South Jersey, and many at the Shore!
When you do your own oil changes. how do you clear the wrench light? I too have the same XC although I had many of the silver pieces painted black. It helped to tone it down for me. As always it's personal. I did add the heated grips before the Dealership delivered it. It helps to cut chilI on early MI. morning rides. I enjoyed your review as well, it does not sound like a paid-for polished UA-cam review. I'm a fan of the Bill Burr adjectives thrown in.
Thanks for the kind words, I'm from New York... can shake the accent or the style, so I guess I'm stuck with it...lol. I use aOBDLink LX OBD2 and a app called TuneECU . I like the blacked out look also, I did that treatment to my Speedmaster. My XC is called the Showcase, so it gets heated grips which I love... and also, windscreen, luggage, and a rear luggage rack, hand guards and auxiliary lights.

@@Yo-Ken thanks! how was the heat difference? is the cooling fan still always on? I just bought a 2020 xc and previously had a 2013 900 and the heat difference is massive.
@@jorgesalcedo489 It helps, and the fan does not come on as quick... but its more the exhaust than the fan. The fan blows the air across the exhaust making it hotter than it needs to be on your leg. I do love the way the exhaust looks, but if I still had the Scrambler I would have went with the Zard''s low exhaust... its a great bike and I miss it, its just tough to ride in the summer in traffic.
Nice review, I have a bike just like yours.. you might try keeping the key fob in a shirt pocket. . I think it might be a line of sight thing, but so far I haven't had the fault message you're getting. Keep 'em coming, it's good to hear from regular guys on this stuff.
Thanks... I think its great. Very easy to install and adjust to your riding style. I say go for it. I have no regrets spending $320... well worth it for me.
That is a tough one. I had the Speedmaster for 3 years, and the Scrambler less than year. The Scrambler was quicker, handle better and I would say it was more fun. The Speedmaster was a great cruiser and comfy, but it lacks the fun part for me. They both have the iconic Triumph look... but if I had to choose just one, it would be the Scrambler.
Great honest review man 👍 good job 👍. I'm looking at getting an XE early next year and Real reviews like this really help 😉all the best , ride safe 👍 Lee ( UK ) 😉
I’ve got the XC. Love it except for the key fob. Had the bike not turn on once. No power to the instrument cluster. Needed to disconnect/ reconnect the bikes battery.
@@Yo-Ken The battery for my FOB crapped out after 5 months and when I got a new battery, I didn't have any issues. I think they put in a crap battery that contributed to the problem. BTW, would love to see a tutorial on the quick shifter--want to put one on too.
@@mitchellchang4307 Thanks for the info... I will get a new battery asap. It was fairly easy, but I guess a how to video would be cool... let me see if I can put something together in a week or so.
Did you only have to add the spacers to make the stock turn signals work for the tail tidy? I'm looking to get the one from TEC and glad to see you were able to make the stock signals to work and would like to do the same. Any info on what you did would be appreciated.
Yes, you can use the stock turn signals. It's easy to figure out. If I remember right the spacers were 3/4 of an inch. You will need longer bolts. It's a nice kit and ties everything in they way it should have come from Triumph... man I miss my Scrambler.
What I did was cut the part of the exhaust where the cat is, removed the cat and welded it back. Any good exhaust shop could handle it. Removing the exhaust is very easy. Lots of videos on how to remove, cut the cat out and weld it back up. I don't have the bike anymore, but man I do it miss it... what a great bike.
Good going man, great honest review! Agree with everything, own an XE myself, haven´t decatted it yet so looking forward to your vid, especially for the sound part - although it already does sound pretty good. D-D-Diavel... awesome!
I use a 360 camera so it does not have a external mic hook up. I use a old gopro hero3 for the sound and use a a device from Sena called an audio pack, it just clips on the back of the gopro, and its around $50, and you can pick up and old gopro from ebay for less than $50. The audio pack bluetooth's to my Sena communication device and picks up the sound through my mic. Whats great about this there is no extra wires or mics and you can record group chats also.
The decat does not work that well , maybe 10 degrees difference( it does sound nice without it tho) ...it’s still as noticeable when the weathers hot ..ultimately I changed it for the Zard low and in my opinion actually makes the bike look really good .otherwise it’s a perfect bike for me , just getting the seat re covered for a little extra saddle time ..good review ..someone who actually does not have strange expectations from this type of bike
I just finished the decat, and its seems better, but it was 20 degrees cooler so that may be part of the reason. I did let it idle after a few hard runs for 10 minutes to simulate being stuck in traffic and felt better, the heat is still there but not as intense. My review will be up today. I do like the Zards low exhaust, will see when the summer hits or I get a warn day here before I make a exhaust change.... Thanks for the kind words.
Thanks for the video mate, cannot be more agree with you. I have ones same as yours and 100% same analysis. Great video in all terms; Quality, professional and honest explanations, video views. I've just ordered the Zard DECAT
Just got mine today. Identical to yours with the showcase package, the question I have is did you have to change the brackets for the dart screen? Thanks
Just out of interest, does the rear tyre hit your no. Plate now you have tail tidy? I watched another video where the guy was off road and this happened constantly knocking off his plate.
I haven't had any issues with the tail tidy as far as the plate hitting the tire. My off road has been on dirt roads that are fairly smooth. I guess It would be an issue if you push the bike to its maximum suspension travel. The bracket I have from Tec can be bent to give more clearance.
I haven't rode all of them, the Harley is a friends. I would have to say the GS... it does everything very well. I rode my brother's Indian Roadmaster, great bike but so heavy. I love my new Scrambler and I rode lots of bikes, but the GS is my favorite.
“Ducati D....I always F that up!” Hilarious, classic NJ/NY Italian who can’t pronounce the Italian bikes name. I know, your buddy busted your stone on the last vid, just love the honesty.
I use my sena communication device to record my voice into a sena audio pack for a gopro. The audio pack only works on a hero 3 or hero 4 and it Bluetooth's into my headset. No cables to mess with, its simple and a clean setup.
Thanks for the kind words. The dealer had both on showroom floor. The xe sat higher and was not as comfy as the xc for me. The only option difference was the imu for cornering. The showcase model I bought had more features than the xe they had in stock. Plus the price on the xc was much better... I paid 12,000, the bike listed for 14,500. Also the xe they had was white and grean... I like the black much better on this bike.
The heat is not bad with the cat delete... and the only time you need to move your leg is if you are stopped for awhile. Riding I have had no issues with the heat so far. In my videos you will see me move my legs a lot, but that's just the way I ride... I do it on all my bikes.
Im 6’3” wanting to get the 1200 but cant decide between the xc or xe i will rarely off road which is what the xe is better for but it also taller, thoughts?
Tough one, the XE is taller, and would probably fit you better. I like the XC because I think it looks more proportioned... we buy bikes on there looks, and that's why I bought this one. I did not test ride the XE, so I don't know if it handles the same as the XC, but from what I read the XC handles a little better on the road. XE has one nice feature that you can not get on the XC, Optimized Cornering ABS/IMU. I guess it comes down to what looks the best to you, the bikes are very similar in overall performance, with the XE leaning slightly to off road and the XC leaning slightly to on road... best to ride both.
Road oriented! The seat is 1” taller the wheelbase is 1” longer. I gave to believe the XC is easier to manage and handles slightly better on the road!, Great bike tho, and you probably can’t go wrong either way!!
