In the days when we cruised on a tight budget, my husband and I would each bring our allotted bottle of wine, buy one drink of rum each and combine that with the free fruit juice and fresh fruit to make sangria. We'd also go to the art shows and other events where free champagne was being served. We didn't want to chance getting caught sneaking liquor on board. Thank goodness those days are behind us. Also when you leave from a European port, you can bring hard liquor on board at every port. You can also stick with cruise lines that have the beverage/liquor package built into your price. NCL usually does this if you book during a promotion.
Princess. I've done Mediterranean, Greek Isles, Baltics etc. My husband has always boarded with his cognac. On back to back itineraries, they delivered everything that he purchased on the first cruise to our stateroom on the second day.
@@ronaldkosters2045 This summer 2024 cruising with Royal I brought 2 big bottles of tequila in port of Kusadasi just in a plastic bag. They were selling alcohol in the "duty free" shop in port and people were taking booze on board freely.
Was on the Royal Caribbean last month and all you have to do is purchase a 1.5 litre bottle of water off the ship, drink it (or dump it), and then purchase clear liquor from a liquor store and fill it. Worked multiple times.
In my experience, you have to try real hard to lose your cruise booze. And the cabin stewards dont care either. Basically, they just want people to be happy with their experience & re-book future cruises.
thanks for the fun video. That said, if cruise security was at all careful they would open all of these containers and you’re busted. The wine bottle gimmick, as illustrated in another video, seems to be the most foolproof. Cruise lines charging outrageous amounts for drink packages have themselves to blame when we as cruise passengers try to game their system. If their prices were more reasonable fewer customers would try to do this. I really do think that given the thousands of passengers coming on board, they are not bothering with a few small containers. It’s passengers who are bringing literally liters of alcohol, with numerous containers, who are going to be thoroughly searched.
The shampoo bottles instead of the plastic pouches are the way to go but we always use the Cruise Runners brand they are reusable with the extra seals and look more realistic.
We are giving ourselves about $300-$400 to spend on drinks during our cruise, just couldn’t justify over $800 for 4 days… so we’ll sneak our preferred liquor and enjoy some drinks with dinner
On my last cruise the two of us would have spent over $1400 for the deluxe drink package had we bought it. There is no way that makes any sense for us. So yes, I'm a boobie (bring our own booze) too. We do get the soft drink package.
I crack up every time I see one of these “informational” videos about smuggling booze posted. The cruise lines have people watching UA-cam for exactly this reason. Every time someone shows a “shampoo brand” or a “tampon wrapper”, screenshots go out to staff. So the hack is good until about three hours after the video is posted….
The reason these hacks still work even though the cruise lines know about them is because only a small percentage of cruisers actually attempt to smuggle liquor (either for moral reasons or the hassle involved) so the intense scrutiny is not worth the effort. I've never gotten caught.
I use my own brand of bottles for shampoo or other items like sailing solution for contacts. I have never gotten caught and what's the worst if I do is they will take it and tell me I should not have done that. It's a cat and mouse game and they have 3,000 people to get on and off the ship in a couple hours. There's no way they could catch even a small percentage of people
I know a checked bag in an airline is a bag or luggage that they load into the cargo area of the plane and you usually don't have access to it untill you reach your final destination while a carry on, you have access to it at anytime at the airport or while on the plane.
Do not, i repeat, do not ad the pouring spout in the same bag... 😂 Carry it in your pocket.

@Nyame-ama In Europe you can bring hard liquor on board? Royal says 1 bottle of wine per person. With what cruise line do you have this experience?

@@dimaroyal79 That's really good to hear! I will definitely try to bring something onboard :-). We will visit Kusadasi as well next summer.

How? Like at a liquor store at 1 of the port stops?
@@luckyemmala that's correct.
They assume that it's a bottle full of water and don't even look at it.
Great idea! @@bourgoziejones6108
We leave on first cruise next week. Wonder if they are aware of the "brand" of the cruiserunner bottles.
How did it go
How did it go

Where do you put the bottles in the checked luggage? I dont want these to get crushed and bust open if in checked luggage..
With our other shampoo and soaps. Recently, we started using these condoms that go on liquid product bottles 😅
WHAT TAMPON OST THAT LARGE 😂
You're awesome! Thank you for this video.
You are so welcome!

The thing that sucks is every so often you gotta go back to the room for refills and not to mention your not hanging around the bars.
Bring an empty flask. Also, grab a more affordable beer if you want to lounge at a bar. Can still spend a little and save some more.

I always place my rum
runner bags in a zip lock and a grocery back. Next time put the tampons in a ziplock.
Does this still work in 2024 ?
They are not checking bottles when you go on the ship.
What cruise line were you on?
Thanks you just saved me $370
That price is about 6 1/2 drinks on the ship.

Now they know what to check 😂
Thanks
Those are huge bottle for carryon
We use them with checked baggage.
What happens if you get caught? Have you or anyone you know been caught?
They throw away your liquor 😅 We haven’t personally been “caught”
Nothing. They take your alcohol and bring it back to your room on the last night of the cruise.
Took my liquor and never gave it back
They just confiscate it and tell you that you were naughty
Do they not run them trough xray amd see that there is liquid?
Shampoo is liquid 😅

What is a checked bag on a cruise?
A bag that you allow the cruise to bring on to your room for you instead of carrying it on.

This is the funniest video ever.
Hilarious probably gonna work lol
Thanks Bro😅
No problem
Sad
Cheer up. Life’s not that bad.
Not sad... It's a genuinous way to have a few drinks in the cabin for next to nothing compared to the outrageous prices they charge
