One small tip I have is no matter how hot you think it is going to be, always bring a light shawl for your evening dress, and light sweater or zipper hoodie for early morning or at night out on deck or for your day on land. You never know when it will rain, and it can be chilly with cloud cover in the mornings. Even inside the ship can be a bit chilly with the air con.
Yep, the tropical weather don't happen until you get to the islands 🤣😂..lol so many think the local weather change after they board the ship...on with the swim wear In cold / chilly weather...lol.. 🤣😂.
Man I wish I knew all that 2 months ago when I cruised with RC Oasis of the Seas, my woman got a 4 days as a surprise for less than $800, I thought it was a good deal but at check in we had to put a credit card on file for any expense we incur during the cruise, man short story I walked out at the end with a $700 charge, drinks and gratuity and the tips I gave the bartenders every time they made me a nice drink without realizing they are getting tipped already, but the worst experience was being forced to buy a 24 pack of water for $35, I still have PTSD from that😂🤣
you can always talk to your doctor about scopolomine patches, they last about 3 days, and prevent sea sickness, instead of using CVS brand motion sickness pills.
@@Godislove9273 I forgot I posted this, man... after coming back from that cruise with those patches I got vertigo really bad for 3 months... I'm not sure if it was the patches or old age... but it sucked.
We learned a valuable lesson our first cruise in 2011 that I wish more people understood. We started in Galveston, and the port was fogged in to where we couldn't leave until the next morning. At that point there wasn't enough time to make the scheduled first stop in Jamaica, so they changed our itinerary from Jamaica/Grand Cayman/Cozumel to Grand Cayman/Cozumel/Progresso. The line at Guest Services of people who just wanted to complain about not going to Jamaica was insane! Our lesson was, don't get too attached to specific stops on your cruise, because they can change due to forces beyond the cruise line's control.

With all the bad news we see on television, you two are truly a breath of fresh air. Even if a person has no desire to take a cruise, I recommend your videos just to lift their spirit. Truly enjoyed you two. Thanks for the smiles and laughs.
My 1st time cruising mistake was paying too much, due to a travel buddy wanting a balcony room. I could have stayed in a cheaper room because I was hardly in it!
One other tip is, I know it isn't always economically feasible for everyone but the money for a room with a window is extremely well worth it. I stayed in a windowless cabin and although it was nice I felt boxed in. Also for souvenirs look at the itinerary for sale spots like the 15$ sales. Remember you can always walk away if a price is too much and Remember the drink waiters are offering as if they are free are NOT free sadly. Friend took a birthday shot because the guy acted like it was free. He was mad, I paid for it for him but he learned.
We are going on our first cruise, so I started looking for resources to help get an idea of what to expect. I stumbled on your channel and spent a whole off day watching your episodes! Word to all: No matter whether or not you think you "can handle" the sun- the Caribbean sunshine is beautiful and addictive. You WILL need to reapply a high quality sunscreen frequently to protect your skin and keep from becoming half-baked. Early in the cruise lots of folks are relaxing on lounge chairs and often get lost in the moment-sometimes falling asleep by a pool or while listening to music, sometimes with a little alcohol in their system to boot. By day three they are miserable from the burn. Take aloe vera or something similar in anticipation, and if you run out of reef-friendly sunscreen the ship will have it for sale. I have more than one cruise memory photo with all of us visibly sunburned. My husband has darker skin than do I and he also has to be careful so protect yourself. Hats that won't fly off in the wind and shades are your friends.
As a veteran cruiser we found that purchasing the Faster To The Fun pass was worth it. We kinda explore ports of call on our own because we've been to many, so many times. Always research ports of call prior to cruise and if you want to book an excursion do it ASAP. Also set your watch with the ship clock if you go off exploring on your own. Haven't cruised since the pandemic so it would be great to back out there. Great video! And I enjoy trying the specialty restaurants on board. Fahrenheit 555 was really nice.
@@biancaboyer4412 NOOOOOO!!!!! 😭😭😭 Is there anything similar? We haven't cruised since the pandemic and we are not up to date with all of the changes. Wow. I can't believe they got rid of faster to the fun! Smh.
I feel y’all. My first cruise was in 2011 and my then husband and I spent soooo much…But on my next cruise--I barely spent money. What a difference the first cruise makes!
My first cruise is 2023 on the Jubilee transatlantic. But I've been all over the world, and I'm a massive planner! I learn key phrases in every language, I download or print maps, know where the embassy is...you name it. I know more than my guides.
I picked up a cabin on the front of the ship on purpose, in the 2nd lowest deck. I wanted to feel the ship and wasn't disappointed. If motion bothers you, center cabin, highest deck you can afford. Also, wear a bathing suit on embarkation day. That way you can enjoy the pools while everyone else is walking around, getting to know the ship.
You mentioned not rushing onto the ship, cuz youre room probably wont be ready, and thats a big one. I would add to that one tip for first time Carnies: dont be confused by the big doors they close the cabin hallways with! We booked a premium suite, and they kept telling us, yeah it should be ready right when you get on (they boarded us FIRST) We got on, and went straight to our deck to check, only to find these huge doors closing off the cabin hallways, with giant signs saying: cleaning in progress, please do not enter. These doors confused EVERYONE. We finally got tired of waiting, and just went in to find our cabin. When we found it, it had been clean and ready for over an HOUR🤦 The ice in the champagne bucket was melted, thats how we know. Guys, dont let the giant doors confuse you, just go in and find your cabin, it might be ready, they wont tell you. They wont open the big hallway doors until ALL the cabins in that particular hallway are done.
My Mom used to raid the buffet with plastic sandwich bags of different sizes to put sandwiches, muffins or any snacks you want to eat later, put all the stuff in her beach bags and then leave the ship for the day. We set our watches five or six minutes ahead of the actual time so we were never late making the it back to the ship.
I love you guys spirit and chemistry! My husband and I are going on our second cruise in 60 days! Your videos still taught me so much more. ...it's so much to learn lol
I love y’all!! The best “down home” review I have seen! It is so wonderful to see “US” doing reviews. My wife and I are going on our first cruise in July, and I am so glad I found your reviews doing my research. THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for sharing. Am planning to go on a cruise with my daughter for my 50th birthday. And my first time. Is going to be a dream come True for my daughter and I.
I swear this my second video watching of y'all. I love the chemistry and just love the videos you all have. Me and my husband going on our first cruise in August and we are so excited. Thanks for these videos!
I gotta hear all the adventures you had on your 1st cruise and how badly it went. Not to laugh at you but to learn from your mistakes. I'm totally new to the cruise scene (I've always been a Vegas man myself). You guys are fun to listen to - so grounded and compatible! I look forward to more videos as I continue down this road.
My 1st cruise was through a travel agent and it was worth it! My advise, all 1st time cruisers should book through a travel agent. They know more than what the website shows and they can throw in a discount sometimes, too. Great informative vlog as always and please tell us the story of you guys 1st cruise! Much love, family ❤️❤️❤️
I would also suggest that if you’re going to a port in a different state to leave a day before just in case they’re any delays getting there especially if you are flying there. I’ve heard stories of people not making the cruise because of it.
You both are awesome! I laughed so hard. I have another one. Don't book a cruise during Hurricane Season. The low price is enticing, but don't do it... There was a hurricane en route during our cruise through the Carribean. We skipped a port of call, and our cruise ship became a speed boat!
As a new travel agent & new to cruising, I loveee how helpful & informative y’all content is!! & I love y’all energy!!! Thank you!!!! & I wanna hear y’all story of y’all first cruise!!
I went on my first cruise ever last month actually May 2022 in terrified of big ships but it was actually a really fun experience we left from Galveston Tx and went to a few different places. We got a nice beach excursion at one of the ports, but I got so sunburnt that it made me sick and yes I applied sunscreen. Also, y’all were 100% right we picked the wrong room! We moved around so much every night, the whole 7 days so I definitely got see sick and was miserable for a Marjory of the time. The worst part was when we got home I experienced vertigo like symptoms and had a double ear infection. I also tested positive with covid which was crazy because I was negative right before the trip! We still have a great time with my fiancés family and in the end I got engaged while on the cruise so I will never forget that experience! We had such a good time we booked another one already.
My son and I were going on a cruise with family and it got canceled due to Covid a year ago. They rescheduled for this August. Congratulations on your engagement 💍🎉🥂
I got invited to join someone who is going in January 24, this will be my first time. The room has a balcony facing the ocean. Not sure which ship yet, but I'm looking forward to having a great time. Thanks for your video.
You guys are so relatable! I’ve been watching a bunch of videos looking into cruises. Not being super financially secure and sharing your experience is super helpful thank you!
Even tho I had a travel agent I still researched for at least 6 months out. I joined all the groups I could. I also used GOOGLE to no end. So my family's 1st cruise (2011) was great! We haven't stop since. I have been able to convince friends and family to cruise as well.
Thank God I have a Travel agent and have had an amazing travel agent since the beginning of our journey. I'm in my 30s and my husband and I are going on our first cruise we both have vertigo and I can't tell u why but at the last minute I upgraded my cabin to a middle cabin and since I am also claustrophobic so a window was a must. We're going with a group so there will be excursions and my husband wants to partake while I'm content with staying in the cabin or on the cruise so I guess we gonna see fingers crossed wish us luck! 🤞❤❤❤
My husband and I been together 12 years 6 kids … a cruise is one thing we really want to do omg just waiting on our blessing I love these informative videos
Another lesson we learned the hard way was, if you have a balcony room, you should know that if your sliding glass door isnt closed AND LOCKED, the air conditioning in the room will not work. Even if the AC says its on, if the balcony door sensor doesnt see the door closed and locked, you will not get cold air. I could not sleep the first 3 nights because of the sweltering heat in our room that we paid through the butt for because they didnt tell us that little fact.
I have a recurring nightmare that I’m locked in a cruise ship kitchen alone and can’t get out and I’ve never been on a cruise or ever plan to. I can’t imagine nothing worse than being locked on a boat with strangers. But I do like to travel. Zero clue why I’m on this rabbit hole considering I still don’t want to cruise but I enjoyed y’all’s personalities. I’m country folk too from Alabama. Keep up the good work! Literally have someone not interested in cruises watching you talk about cruises 😂
I am so glad I came across your video in my research. Kudos to mentioning researching costs and extras prior to boarding, very cool you said to not put things on credit. I haven't heard anyone mention that before. I love y'all's vibe and energy. Keep em coming!
#8 &9 Harmony of the Sea (RC). That additional gratuity blew my mind. The drink package for two was $1200. It will be another ten years before we go on another cruise much less a 7 day cruise. They are making the money back from the COVID-19 hit.
I absolutely enjoy watching your videos. I have cruised a few times and booked several myself. But your videos still show me things I didnt do or think about. Your banter is a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you guys. (Looking into becoming a travel agent myself so I can cruise more!!!
You guys are hilarious! We are going on our first cruise in December, and I can't stop watching your videos! Great advice, especially about the check-in time! Everyone else says "earliest available." but I think I will follow your advice!!
I've planned two cruises for me and three to four other people twice and done one cruise through a travel agent. The travel agent experience was so frustrating because I didn't feel in control of anything, didn't have access to things, and had to go through another person when I could just do it myself. I could see the benefit though if you aren't good with research or used to planning.
Great tips. You can buy a lot of that stuff on the boat but it’s much more expensive. I’ve got my 6th cruise coming up and am a lot older than my prior ones. I’ve been to the countries before so this time, except maybe stepping off the boat in Cozumel for some shopping (everything is right there off the pier) I’m staying on the boat to enjoy the less crowded time while others explore, though going to the beach is tempting.
I just found out on UA-cam because I was trying to research how I'm going to pack my soda cuz we're flying in to Miami out of Dallas because I don't want to leave the airport to go get soda and come back and catch the bus but like you did on your first cruise we did the same thing we didn't book no excursions we just walked around the port and got back on the boat because we didn't see the videos about people getting left and also I just booked my water for for our cruise in Feb 2024 it is $12
Just booked my first cruise with carnival and the 12 pack of waters was $11! And when I booked they told me that I can bring sodas, but no waters 🙃 I booked a 3 day since it will be my first cruise to get my feet wet and if I like it, I’ll book a longer one next 😊 thanks for sharing this content! Very useful!
I wish I had seen your videos before booking my cruise. We went through a carnival cruise travel agent. I specifically told her that I wanted a room in the middle of the ship because I read that was the best place to avoid morning sickness and my husband gets motion sickness. I just saw that our rooms are will be assigned at a later date. I thought with it being our first cruise it would be best to book with Carnivals own agents, but not I'm starting to have regrets. Thank you for your videos.
Random but love how y'all Africa necklaces are facing each other! Idk if it's intentional or not, but its definitely giving swans mate for life vibes! ❤️🖤💚
My wife and I have been on a few cruises and feel like we're still learning the it's and outs of cruising. We would live to hear your first cruise story😊
OMG!!! Where we y'all before I took a Carnival Cruise like 5 years ago!!! I made EVERY mistake on that first cruise that you guys did. I spent over $600 on that sail-away card.....it is so easy to do. I know NOW to check that sail-away card balance everyday!!!! Cause they take that money out of your banking account as soon as you get back to the states LOL. I've haven't been on a cruise since. Thanks for the travel agent information.
Side note I love how he call her queen naturally.! And how he look and glow when she talk in each video … y’all are a beautiful couple and I know y’all fun ima have to join one of y’all group vacations with my wife 😄
I'll be on my first cruise in August, I've been watching you since December taking in all of your advice, and of course just enjoying your content. Yes definitely want to see your extended vlog on your experiences ...One of my favorite couples 💞💞💞
I started watching this video, but then started packing out of pure excitement. When I came back it was on the mark of “don’t drink the high price bottles of water in the room!” And guess what I did? I wish I would’ve kept watching lol. The most disrespectful part is that the water is a dollar store brand! Thanks so much for this video. I learned so much from my personal experience and from this video 🤦🏽♀️😂
I can't even begin with this video. I will take my first cruise and on Carnival next year and have been doing research. Almost EVERYTHING they covered I have learned and felt like they were talking directly to me! Lol. Even the $500 . Thank you for sharing.
Our first every cruise is on the carnival Valor on the 26th. We've got 2 excursions booked, Bubblies for the kids and are so stupid excited. I really appreciate y'all and these videos.
In a moment of weakness I drank one of those big water bottles 😆 Newbies be warned, as soon as you get onboard and start eating they will hit you up to buying drinks. These are NOT included in any drinks package. Y'all are great, please keep the videos coming
You both hit on a very important point. I yell people that they need to know the total cost of the trip. I prepay gratuities and pre buy internet as well as send water to the room. I also have keabred I can bring a carry on that is extra with chips and cookies for my kids so they don't get the 6.99 can of pringles again. Also great hit on the fact gratuities are already on bar service and other items. Most people don't know. Thanks for the laughs.
I just want to say I love your content and keep up the great work, Black Love! 💕 I started cruising in 1999 & I'm currently a platinum VIFP cruiser on Carnival. There's two tips I would like to add for your subscribers. The tipping charged toward the end on your Sail-n-sign card is for (3) people. The person cleaning your cabin daily (Room Steward), the Waiter & the Bus Person in the dining room. Like you mentioned everyone else who brings you a drink, the gratuity is already there. In the dining room, if you want to order everything on the menu, you can! If you want 5 lobsters & a steak (or 2), just let your waiter know how many you want when you put in your order. Their idea is, "Your wish is my command!" I hope the info was helpful & enjoy family! 😉
OH yes about the dining room menu, we made this mistake on our 1st cruise in 2011. We didn't know that you can order more than one item, we thought one per person 😂, we learned this on the last night when we said to our waitress that the food was so good and she said if you want more than one you can order more 😳.
We have a travel agent for our first cruise and she didn’t tell us anything. Hopped on the ship with out any package or excursions. We did get one excursion but we could’ve saved money if we would’ve gotten it prior. I’m going on my 2nd cruise and I’ve taken it upon myself to do the research and pricing for everyone involved. Wish I had you when I went the first time! Lol
It would be helpful to give some insight on what worked for you such as what area of the boat has less motion to prevent sea sickness or what to bring on board.
OMG I enjoyed this video so much 😭 I was lucky, my 1st Cruise I had a cousin that worked for Carnival. So I knew about all of these things you guys mentioned especially the gratuity!

Same thing happened to us. We fell asleep at the table in the buffet.. no one say a word
I am an expert cruiser, but I still enjoy these videos.
I love y’all!! The best “down home” review I have seen! It is so wonderful to see “US” doing reviews. My wife and I are going on our first cruise in July, and I am so glad I found your reviews doing my research. THANK YOU!!!
✔️✔️
Is ur cruise tmr? Cuz me too
Or today because it’s 2:00 lol
Plain and simple knowledge is power and it’s a vacation no time should be wasted
Amen
A Travel agent really is the key to working through all of this!
Thank you so much!!
It was epic (not in a good way lol). ua-cam.com/video/xnfZI4-2_qc/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing!
My biggest mistake was not going through a Travel Agent .
ty so much
❤
I booked through an agent and I feel like she's done nothing for me but book the trip. What else should she be helping with?
Oh wow, congrats on the engagement thou
My son and I were going on a cruise with family and it got canceled due to Covid a year ago. They rescheduled for this August. Congratulations on your engagement 💍🎉🥂
I got invited to join someone who is going in January 24, this will be my first time. The room has a balcony facing the ocean. Not sure which ship yet, but I'm looking forward to having a great time. Thanks for your video.
You guys are so relatable! I’ve been watching a bunch of videos looking into cruises. Not being super financially secure and sharing your experience is super helpful thank you!
🥰
You guys are the cutest I cannot stop watching you!!! Cutest couple!!
Even tho I had a travel agent I still researched for at least 6 months out. I joined all the groups I could. I also used GOOGLE to no end. So my family's 1st cruise (2011) was great! We haven't stop since. I have been able to convince friends and family to cruise as well.
Cool couple. Good advice for newbies. Great personalities and presence.
Thank you all! This was easy to watch and very informative 👍❤️
Thank you so much, I was just going to book something last minute and jump on.
I could not sleep the first 3 nights because of the sweltering heat in our room that we paid through the butt for because they didnt tell us that little fact.
thank you so much! ive dealt with such at reg hotel. non info. *i sure appreciate you sharing 😍
the ac would just go outside
My wife and I are going on our very first cruise in December. Love your video. Very informative and you two make it fun to watch!
You two are so fun to watch! I love the way you play off of each other, and I’d love to hear your horror story.
Thanks so much for being here for us ! I look forward to my first cruise.🤪
Oh wow lol
I am so glad I came across your video in my research. Kudos to mentioning researching costs and extras prior to boarding, very cool you said to not put things on credit. I haven't heard anyone mention that before. I love y'all's vibe and energy. Keep em coming!

Harmony of the Sea (RC). That additional gratuity blew my mind. The drink package for two was $1200. It will be another ten years before we go on another cruise much less a 7 day cruise. They are making the money back from the COVID-19 hit.
Going on a cruise with my girl in 2024 when I tell you this helped with so many questions. Black love 🖤🤞🏾
Horror story please !!!
About to cruise for the 1st time January 2025, love the videos. I have learned so much.
Excursions are so much fun.
I was able to scratch several items off my bucket list.
Para sailing,. climbing a pyramid and many others.
🥰🥰
You guys are hilarious! We are going on our first cruise in December, and I can't stop watching your videos! Great advice, especially about the check-in time! Everyone else says "earliest available." but I think I will follow your advice!!
We just did it our self. We reach everything to bring and what cabin to book
This is a blessing to know. Thank you for sharing. Question????
I've planned two cruises for me and three to four other people twice and done one cruise through a travel agent. The travel agent experience was so frustrating because I didn't feel in control of anything, didn't have access to things, and had to go through another person when I could just do it myself. I could see the benefit though if you aren't good with research or used to planning.
My Wife and I are Carnival Cruisers.
You 2 are fun and funny ty
You guys have great chemistry. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for the information.
I just found out on UA-cam because I was trying to research how I'm going to pack my soda cuz we're flying in to Miami out of Dallas because I don't want to leave the airport to go get soda and come back and catch the bus but like you did on your first cruise we did the same thing we didn't book no excursions we just walked around the port and got back on the boat because we didn't see the videos about people getting left and also I just booked my water for for our cruise in Feb 2024 it is $12
The Lord Is FAITHFUL!
Thanks King And Queen- Excellent Advice!
I just booked and yes this is true! In 2022 it was 5.95 👀
Y'all have the most informative cruise videos of anyone. Thank you! ❤ Thanks for the humor, too. 😊
Thank you
Going on my first Carnival Cruise next month and you guys helped A LOTTTT, thank you!!!!
I have been on over 15 cruises, but I'm watching this, because you two are funny, and I like your energy.
🥰
🥰
My wife and I have been on a few cruises and feel like we're still learning the it's and outs of cruising. We would live to hear your first cruise story😊
It’s up 🥰
Love the energy!! Thank y’all for this, I take my first cruise next week. I’m so excited
Side note I love how he call her queen naturally.! And how he look and glow when she talk in each video … y’all are a beautiful couple and I know y’all fun ima have to join one of y’all group vacations with my wife 😄
Come on!!! Group cruise July 2023 🥰
I literally just made a group for Carnival and yall just saved me from making a few mistakes! I'm so glad i stumbled across yall!!!
Thanks! Going to be using your queen for me and my queen cruise this March
I'll be on my first cruise in August, I've been watching you since December taking in all of your advice, and of course just enjoying your content. Yes definitely want to see your extended vlog on your experiences ...One of my favorite couples 💞💞💞
I’m going in august as well to the bahamas
🥰
@@B.Latriece Freedom 8/11
Me also, I’m cruising in august and I’m so nervous lol
@@B.Latriece me to in august !!
I watched your videos before our first cruise and it helped tremendously!!
I started watching this video, but then started packing out of pure excitement. When I came back it was on the mark of “don’t drink the high price bottles of water in the room!”
And guess what I did?
My husband & myself are in our 70s going on our 1st cruise we love watching you both you so funny wish you were on our cruise x
Yes I want to hear the story
Same thing happened to me. Didn't know I could have had more than o e lobster tail. That was over 10 years ago and I still kick myself...smh
@@828columbia 🤣🤣🤣
Omg, gotta the first cruise story!!! You guys are the best
Lol
oh wow
Danke!
We are going on our first cruise December 26,and your videos are pretty much the cruising Bible to me.Thank you all so much for doing these.
Aww we appreciate that
I looooooved watching this!!! That’s you for all the resourceful info. You guys are hilarious ❤😂
I’m using you guys for my first cruise in august.
My bday gift to myself
🥰🥰
It would be helpful to give some insight on what worked for you such as what area of the boat has less motion to prevent sea sickness or what to bring on board.
Our entire channel is all about it 🥰
My first cruise is coming up in May . I’m so excited and these videos are definitely coming in handy
What cruise are you attending ? I am trying to go as well
These are so useful. My first cruise ever is coming up and this is practical info 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾.
OMG I enjoyed this video so much 😭
I was lucky, my 1st Cruise I had a cousin that worked for Carnival. So I knew about all of these things you guys mentioned especially the gratuity!
I like ur so real. I've been on 1 cruise with carnival cruise. It was fun. We just did a bus tour it was nice.
