This workaround does not work for me. Like many other commenters have said, the camera screen simply goes black when the mic gets plugged in. Maybe there are variations in this camera model that allow it to work on some. But I haven't seen any proof that it actually works. Luckily I only invested $8 for the adapter cord.
Glad to be of help. Can you tell me how your motor sounds on the camera? I think a number of people are having issues with the motor making a loud noise that makes vlogging difficult for them.
Do you also have Canon Power Shot SX50 and with this cord an external microphone works? Can you write me the marking of the cord (micro / mini usb to 3.5 mic) and give me a link where I can buy it?
Do you also have Canon Power Shot SX50 and with this cord an external microphone works? Can you write me the marking of the cord (micro / mini usb to 3.5 mic) and give me a link where I can buy it?
ToryTV 토리테비 I just tested the link and it worked fine for me. May I ask what country you are in? If it won't work for you, you can try searching for a GoPro mic that has the USB adapter. 2.5mm would be the most common size mic plug in, at least as far as I know. If you find a 3.5mm mic, the adapter may be harder to find.
ToryTV 토리테비 The camera doesn't have a mic jack. The adapter is for a 2.5 mm mic. The area that looks like the mic input is for a remote for taking stills. People lie and say it's a 2.5 mm input to sell the camera faster.
I've never had that issue to be honest. Sounds like the port may be the problem. I'd call a repair shop and describe this to see if they will tell you if the port is going bad or not. If it is, other things can start to go out also and you may be looking at getting a new camera.
I hope this works. I saw on another video that you have to go into your microphone settings on the camera and set it from auto to manual and it should work.
As long as it will take the adapter it should work. Check for a background noise after your first video to make sure that you won't have issues with the motor being too loud when recording.
This IS NOT a valid workaround. I have this camera and there is NO external mic solution. The jack he shows that he plugged into is an output jack, not input.
Sorry but this just doesn't work. It is good info though that the little input is not a 3.5 mm mic input but nether is the USB even with an adapter. There would need to be device drivers to support this usb option and unless you changed/modified the OS it just isn't going to work with this particular camera. Tap your finger on the external mic and then on the SX50 HS camera body and you will see that the internal mic is actually the one that is recording. So everyone in the comments asking for what setting to use I hate to break it to you but this camera does NOT support external microphones without some major OS and/or hardware surgery (not recommending this option).
Exactly, full of shit he is, this so does not work at all on Canon Powershots, Even with CHDK running. Theres only the pinout configuration for audio out via mini usb and mini hdmi on these cameras for the migration of video files to your pc or for playback on your television, monitor, whatever.
Sufiyan Arab As loud as the motor is, I would advise against it. You tend to get a humming noise in the background of your videos. Instead of invest a lot of money into this camera, I would suggest playing with the features and investing in a canera with a quiet motor and better stabilization. Especially if you are looking to do professional quality vudeos.
Link is added in the description box. It's just one option. There are others out there that can do the same thing with this camera. If you find a better option, please let us know.
Click bait...Where is your plugged in functioning mic at? This so does not work at all on Canon Powershots, Even with the most recent version of CHDK running, and trying multiple different adapters, trs plugs, trrs plugs, pro audio patch cables and mics to amazon specials, just does not work. I have the SX40 HS btw. Essentially same as the sx50, actually a bit better build quality. Theres only the pinout configuration for audio out via mini usb and mini hdmi on these cameras for the migration of video files to your pc or for playback on your television, monitor, or whatever your viewing screen of choice is. Best solution is to record audio on a separate device as a wave file, drop the original audio and sync the new audio to the video. I just use my galaxy s21 ultras dolby app to record, then video editor on my windows 10 tablet to sync everything up with the clap three times method I've always used when mixing other audio files in with my guitar tracks. Without the whole pesonius and sound forge of course.
Fake video, the micro-usb port on the SX50HS doesn't work as an audio input. If you want to demonstrate a technique, proof it with a demonstration, not words.
Yeah prove it because the video shows audio out printed on the output door. My guess is he tried it with other cameras but had not tested with sx 50 specificalky before making video. I bet he is using the set up described with a different model to film The video.
I only got my SX50 a few weeks ago. Still doing my homework. Is there anything to do in the menus to get the camera to recognize a microphone is attached to the USB port? Because it isn't a feature that is covered by Canon. Thanks.
I don't have my camera in front of me, but I think there is an options in the menu for you to switch from using the camera mic, to using a mic that is plugged in for audio. Using the on board mic will cause you to pick up the noise of the motor in your videos. A mic that is attached will make your audio better, but you may still hear the background noise in videos. You will need to do some editing to make the noise go away completely and to boost the sound of your audio. This camera on its own will not allow you to completely eliminate the noise that I am aware of.
The reason it is not in the manual is that it does not work. Don't waste your money on this adapter. It does not work. This guy has several youtube accounts.
With the adapter, the other end is a headphone jack that you would see on a cell phone. You can get plug in mics for that jack pretty cheap and a number of them will have a clip so you can have it on your clothes without moving it around.
Technical World As far as I know it should. The issue people are having with this camera is how loud the motor is. The cameras with the direct plug in seem to have quieter motor, thus giving it better audio quality. The solution I give here is cheaper and what I would recommend for that camera before purchasing more expensive audio equipment for making vlogs.
Technical World I would say search by that item name on Amazon and see if it will be delivered to your area. Also, sometimes other people will have the same thing on eBay for a similar price and will deliver to you.
Hi guys! Did anyone try this and works? My concern is the cable is connected to “output” can this be really possible? Please comment below if you already tried this cause im planning to buy a 2nd hand camera like this.thanks guys!
If you go to the other channel I have, which is in the info card in the video, and listen to the Seoul in my Soul podcast, you'll hear what the audio sounds like, as well as the motor noise that I've told others about.
I put a link in the description box of the adaptor that I use. This camera has been known to have a louder motor sound, which causes some feedback in the audio. While it can still get the job done, and is a solid option for someone that wants a camera that does it all from pics to video, a camcorder or a newer camera that doesn't need the adaptor may be a better option. Either way, a shotgun mic or a clip on mic will probably be necessary to get better audio.
Common sense should tell you that this no more works than if you use a USB adapter to get audio from your smartphone - the port connectivity isn't designed for such functionality
Hey don’t say lies. I brought all stuff you saying without looking anywhere else. It doesn’t work. That port is for output, not for input. Forks don’t be fool like me.
Fake. I need you to send me $25 dollars plus labor and stress money. This is a click bait video and should be removed by youtube as it is encouraging people to buy stuff for their camera that you know does not work

Im so confused, some people say it works, some say it doesnt... but i havent seen you actually prove that it works

okay thank you
ToryTV 토리테비 No problem.
Dose it work on a powershot 530 ?
When ever I plug the adapter in the camera, my screen just turns black what do i do?

There are no mic settings on the SX50hs.
Can you show us which menu option needs to be adjusted for external microphone to be recognized?
There are none. The video is a joke
Get a mini hdmi to vga that has a 3.5 mm jack input , that might work coz I’ve tried this , this does not work!!!!
I found my old dslr I got like 5 years ago, and want to try it out. Will it work with a canon rebel t3/ canon 1100d

OMG THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS BUT COULDNT FIND A VIDEO SAYING IT WORKS. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Jesse Brannan No problem. To hear how it sounds, visit my other channel be searching for the Seoul in my Soul podcast.
DOes it work with Canon Rebel T5 cameras?
does this work for the canon t6?
Not on T5

kgoldric it does work. I do it.
Those are audio/video outs. It'll send signals, not receive.
Is that adaptor still available is india?
it works on a canon powershot sx530 hs?
You don't even have a mic to show that it works
Cause it doesn't work
@@IrishChippy Correct, this guy is LYING.

This most certainly does not work on my canon powershot sx50 hs
will this work on a powershot g1x mark ii?
Hello I am gonna be investing a lot of money into buying a mic and the adapter for my canon sx40hs will this work definitely?

does it work with a micro usb port
Which adapter specifically? link in the description would be helpful. Thank you.

Can you make a video testing the audio?
Richard Search for Seoul in my Soul podcast. All episodes are recorded on this camera.
@@ahndaewoong7687 Yeah, from the camera mic, not an external mic!
