Great video Hedley, thank you for a very enjoyable wild camp. Good partnership in planning and doing the trip. Where next then? :) Cheers, Warren

After I have done Dartmoor next week I want to hunt out some more Brecon Beacon locations. Quite fancy that small lake below Corn Du (from Brecon) if you're up for that?

Hi Hedley, A great first wild camp you are privileged to have camped in such a wonderful place and to do so in such fine company!!
I do chuckle seeing your shiny new mess tins (is that an oxymoron?) you need to get them messy quickly!! It does remind me to rescue mine next time I'm in the UK.
Some great tips for getting started, although early summer it seemed quite a cold night.
I see you have come across Patrick Dickinson's channel. I have watched all of his videos and can almost navigate The Peak District even though I've never been. His investigation of the culverts in Sheffield are amazing.
But of course wild camping is old hat, now wild swimming ......
Very enjoyable to watch have a great weekend

Great to hear from you David! Yes this was a cold night despite being mid June, the elevation probably knocks another 3 or 4 degrees off too.
Warren was great, really guided me and made it the best experience possible. We are already talking about our next two adventures!
I will be wild camping with my son on Dartmoor next week, I may turn that into a video too.
      All the best - Hedley

Hahaha, terrible entertainment, who'd do that eh! Yes, really enjoyed this one, Dartmoor wild camping this weekend with my son, can't wait. I have a little hike planned with @linleys coming up too in Wiltshire, filled with historical treats. I want to see whether he fancies a wild camp right up on Fan-y-Big sometime too, the views are amazing.

A very useful guide for one’s first wild camp. Something I’m never going to do!
So, you had a “mixed” night. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video about wild camping where a “great” night is mentioned?
Excellent musical selection at the end there. Right up my street!

Great video Hedley! (Sorry I'm a bit late to the party)
That looked like a spectacular location, and you shot it beautifully - both from the ground and from the air. The aerial footage at the end was full of drama - very cinematic! Lots of good camping tips there, and great to see Warren's custard get a look in!

What width sleep pad do you use in the abisko?

    • @hedleythorne
      @hedleythorne  5 місяців тому

At the moment I am using a 55 cm wide Forclaz folding foam pad, but for winter I will probably upgrade to a Flextail Zero R05 though that will likely be too wide for the tapered ends, and so sit in the middle of the inner. Luckily the inner is long.
