      Thanks Paul I appreciate that. I was sooooo windy and had to put so much noise cancelling on in the edit 😂. It’s a great route back down and if you check in the links I’ve put a link to the last time I went there so the full route is on. I do love it around there.
      I’ve added a link to your channel too 🤙🏼

      Haha I have plenty of tech. It’s the standard selfie stick you get with the Insta 360 X3 and within the software it cleverly removes the stick it’s great isn’t it

    Sometimes, the spur of the moment trips and adventures are the best. It looks like you had a great time. Right now, I want to be out on my adventures, but I'm currently stuck in at the Hellmouth (the day job). I'm glad that you managed to get over 1,000 subscribers. Hopefully, that will mean you can get it monetised soon.

    Brilliant. I'll grab myself the SPH2ONGE and I was looking at getting a pillow and decided I'd use clothes or something to save weight but I will also get myself one seeing you with it now, I think its worth it. Great video thank you kris. As soon as my bag arrives and the weather is dry I'll get a wild camp done. Keep the videos coming pal. 🤟

      Sounds good Michael. The cloth is so good just make sure you keep it damp and it’ll last forever they’re ace. What bag is it you’ve gone for? Heading out myself tomorrow night for a wild camp somewhere with my gf so think I’ll take the northern lite 2 out again for that one. Thanks for your support mate

      I hope you both have a great time, look forward to that video, i have gone for the Osprey Atmos AG 65. I have just come back from Wales so im familiar eith my tent now *salewa litetrek pro 3. I also have the thermarest neoair xtherm nxt but got regular wide because I was unsure how big the mummy shapes are. I know it's too hot at the minute but I've got the Rab ascent 1100 too. My bag and my tent are not the lightest! I think 2 3 fir the tent and the bag is similar too. So I'm on 4.5kg just with my tent and empty bag. I hope I can manage when it's equipped. I've got titanium plate, cup cutlery etc.... any advice mate will be much appreciated. Really enjoy watching your videos, enjoyable to watch.

      @@michaelheyes7324 Sounds like you’ve got some good gear there. At the end of the day I wouldn’t worry about the weight. It’s just about what you’re comfortable carrying. If long multi day hikes then lighter really helps but just for hikes and camps I wouldn’t worry. Take what you’re happy with.
      I’ve got one gear video on here as an example what I tend to take. Wouldn’t worry about the specific gear but you’ll get the idea. I vary my tents based on what I need. I just use the cheap flamescreed quilt this time of year as small and light and still warm. I use my xtherm all year around. Not got the NXT so you’ve one upped me there haha. Good choices

    Nice watch Kris. I have been a subscriber of yours for a while now but even though my notifications are on i haven't seen a video come up on my feed for ages. Nice cheeky over nighter you had there, can you park over night in that car park ???. I like getting the train to Glossop then hiking up to Bleaklow then over to Grimmer Stones then down to Cock Hill and then camping on the mounds there at the Castles then the next day head down into Alport Valley across the Snake and head up to kinder via Blacken Brooke (stopping for a dip in the plunge pool just below the path before heading over kinder Plateu and then down into Edale and getting the train back to Manchester.

      Yeah it’s fine to park there overnight it’s free parking day or night which is handy. Sure you could actually stay in a van there too. I’ll try it in my tent box soon and let you know.
      Sounds like a good route. I’ve done bleakstones and the crash site from Glossop before too. Good climb up out of there and nice route. Much better than the common route from snakes pass. Always good to take in a plunge pool too…love it

    Hi, new subscriber here. Clicked on this video originally because I've just bought myself the Abisko Lite 1. Only slept in it once so far but I love it. Gives the Hilleberg Akto a run for it's money I'd say and in some respects I think it's actually superior.
    Thoroughly enjoyed the video. I've bivvied on top of Alport Castles but never pitched a tent. Fabulous area.

      Apologies only just seen this, great to have you onboard. How are you finding the Abisko Lite 1? It’s a great tent. I’ve actually sold mine now as needed a bigger tent for winter so I’ve got the Abisko Lite 3. Used it for the first time at weekend on the summit of Helvellyn and it was great. Well done with the bivvy bag I’ve never tried it…don’t think it’s for me

      @@krisgleave Hi Kris, I'm out again in the Abisko Lite 1 tomorrow night actually. Nothing dramatic. There's a lovely area of natural woodland on the Lincolnshire Wolds, and although it's private, let's just say I borrow it from time to time.
      Finding the tent great. This'll be my fourth camp.
      Best wishes.

    How do you rate the tent? I'm looking at this or the Nortent Vern 1 new shape. Undecided at moment

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  10 місяців тому +1

      I always loved this tent. It’s not really a comparison to the Vern 1 as that offers much more space and different features. The Abisko Lite 1 is a solid 4 season tent and lightweight too and good packsize. It’s low inside though which is to be expected for these type of tents and means more laying down that sitting up but obviously it is doable.
      I only sold it as I managed to get the Abisko Lite 3 for the exact same price I sold this for. As my gf likes to come and we enjoy camping together it made sense to sell one of my 1 man tents to make the upgrade.
      I also have the Durston xmid 1P for my solo long distance tent and now my Soulo for my Winter as offers more room so it just wasn’t needed anymore.
      I highly recommend it though. Check out Bushman and Blue he’s also used this lots in really adverse weather and it’s been bombproof. It was one of the reasons I bought it originally

    • @thepeakdistrictviking

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  6 місяців тому

      I don’t have the tent now as managed to sell it and pick up an Abisko Lite 3 for the same price which is handy for when I go with my gf. By memory it’s about 1.7KG which is light. It packs small in your bag too and the bags for Fjallraven are the best out there.

    Who says you can't have your drone there 😂 the SSSI is more for the nest season (march-sep) but u can fly it round there :) nothing saying you can't:)

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  Рік тому +1

      Check the drone safe register or other sites. You need permission from Natural England to fly on or over SSSI sites or SPA (Special Protection Areas) regardless of the weight of drone. You just need to be away of these areas and plenty of apps or maps to show these areas. Another couple of popular spots which are SSSI are Malham Cove and Chrome Hill (Dragons Back)

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  11 місяців тому +1

      Cheers great to have you onboard. Really depends on where you want to use it. The Abisko Lite 1 is a great tent but it’s low. In winter it’s trickier to use as if you’re wet and need to get in the tent and change etc….you’ll struggle. However pitching wise its tests fits anywhere and solid.
      If you wanted bigger I’d get the 3, not the 2. The 3 is higher and obviously more room too and not much difference in weight between the 2 and the 3.
