- Spring Training is here, and we are already seeing price movements for many players. In this video the Spitballin' team discusses what has happened to players cards so far this spring training, as well what we predict will happen to their cards the rest of Spring Training. We also discuss the Burbank card show from this past week and much more!
Really enjoying these discussions, guys! Great job on the conversation topics and keeping up the fantastic content! 👏
Thanks a lot! We appreciate the support!

Much appreciated, thanks for watching!
Love this podcast. Others have claimed they talk about cards in UA-cam card pods in the past. You guys are knowledgeable, up to date and very specific. Love this.

Love the talk on the prices. When I saw the Elly bump I jumped on Holliday parallels and PSA 10s. So far most of them are up from then.
I’m buying Langford now because holidays market is getting too hot, but Langford parallels are the play for me.
Chris here - it must be nice to be a top prospect on the team that just won the World Series. Langford is in a great spot for success! I’m excited to see him play
Seems like a sound strategy - good luck!
Happened to me today on a basketball rpa; sometimes ya gotta suppress the impulse to negotiate. If the pricemakessense hit the BIN.
Nice! What’d you snag?
💯💯💯💯
Great video guys, thank you
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff as always guys! Always look forward to these podcast episodes.

Thanks for coming along for the ride!
Enjoying these discussions. Good stuff!
thanks for listening to us carry on about baseball cards!
As a yankees fan, like every year recently, I'm being told how great the team is then sitting back and waiting for the injuries to begin.
Chris here - Cashman still having his job is one of the great mysteries of Major League Baseball. He’s been a disaster. Truly.
Judge in center field would absolutely terrify me as a Yankee fan.
I don’t ever remember a team deliberately moving their most important (and injury prone player) to a MORE physically demanding position. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
One thing we know for sure - Cole will be a beast.
lol, sounds about right, custum18
This has been so good. Some of the best baseball card talk around. PLEASE keep this going. Thank you
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
I sold all my paper Elly ‘s for $28 a piece at that time and chrome for $45-50. Good stuff gentleman 🤙🏻

Only reason I enjoy shows are to work on vintage sets, viewing some rare cards all in 1 place and the power of cash.
Plenty of all of that on display in Burbank!
What set are you working on now?
Is this only a UA-cam show? I saw some posted on Spotify but nothing on there since Feb?
We are supposed to be on Spotify as well!
It’s still February!
Quickly rising up the charts of my favorite UA-cam baseball card channels.

Thanks!
Love the shows guys. Of all of the current MLB players, who’s 1st Bowman Chrome autos do you think will reach Trout type prices? Maybe Judge if he stays healthy?
Chris here - that’s a big IF. Real big.
I’d say Acuna has a chance, but I doubt any player gets to Trouts level.
Trout’s first 8 years are close to unprecedented. How many top 2 MVP finishes??
As a Brewers fan, I had to get myself a Chourio 1st auto here before the Spring started. The PSA 9 I was able to get off eBay will look great with the Sapphire, Chrome base and Paper base in a nice frame I'm making for my wall. He hit quite well in game 1 of Spring, but we'll see how it progresses as we march towards Opening Day.
Nice pickups! From a fellow Brew Crew fan, I have high hopes!
Chris here - I’d love to see him on the opening day roster! And in the All Star Game!
I like the point about lower end peospect cards getting a significant %bump relative to high end... that's the area I prospect in and totally agree. I like how it's a lot of low risk, mid reward, like if I buy a Josue De Paula 1st color for $20, I can sell on speculation at $40, or if I don't hear anything, get out at $15 easily. As long as you do your own research and concentrate on players nobody's talking about, $ is there
Great points!
Thanks for watching!
Love the strategy! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve said it many times. But I absolutely love this show. The topics you guys talk about, the knowledge you have, Only talk baseball makes this show the best of the best.
Thanks so much!! We really appreciate the support!

Love the Kelnic shout out at the end! But dang, Marniners fan catching a stray 😅
Chris here - yeah I knew I’d catch some flack for that. But honestly, I’m glad people watched for that long!
Mariners spent the off-season unloading contracts. Julio about to enter superstardom. Pitching is in good shape.
Time to make a move!
@@SpitballinCards heck yeah! I like where they're at, you never know with this ownership/management but I'm glass half full... plus Julio is a beast!
@@shorebreakcards hard to ask for a better first two seasons than what Julio had delivered.

Spencer Jones prices seem to have shot up since his 470 foot bomb
😂😂😂
Coincidence??
@@SpitballinCards I think last I checked he was also like 5-5 😂
Spring has sprung!
@@aduncaroo 📈📈📈
I bought Elly’s 1/1 topps reverance. I’m fine with keeping it. I am a Cincy guy but what would you do ?
Sounds like a big card! Could really blow up if he gets off to a hot start!
Keep up the great content!!!
Thanks for watching!

Us Mariners fans catching strays in the final 60 seconds of the episode!
Sorry!!!
Chris here - strange off season in Seattle, right?
Dumping Ray, dumping Kelenic.
Team seemed poised for a run with Julio ready to take the next step.
But maybe front office doesn’t think so?
What do you think?
@@SpitballinCards strange indeed. Mostly sequencing. Reshuffled things. Got rid of some back contracts (Marco and Evan White). Getting rid of a bunch of guys early and then having a big pause before adding anyone sucked. Coming into 2024 with less payroll (I believe) than we headed into 2023 with sucks. But Mariners ownership love to cry poor.
Hoping to good things for Eugenio, Kelenic, and the others. Just make sure the Braves keep him away from those water coolers.
@@jrlcards haha - they’ll definitely keep him from water coolers.
Maybe dumping the bad money will pay off - they’re in a good position to add payroll at the deadline of the want.
@@SpitballinCards I’m hopeful that if the team produces this year they have enough in the chamber for one big move to go over the top. I don’t have a lot of faith in ownership though :(
@@jrlcards I agree all around. 2025 might be their next all in season.
I've recently been getting alot of cards signed by a company locally here in Minnesota that sells in person autograph tickets where they have the athletes come into there store and you get to bring an item in, a sports card or jersey or photo or what ever you want depending on the players preferences. For an extra $10 you can get a beckett witnessed sticker on your item by a beckett employee who's at the event. My question is, on sports cards do you think the beckett witnessed sticker that they put on the back of the card authenticating the autograph decreases the value of it? I end up sending all the cards I get autographed off to psa anyway but I've been getting the beckett stickers because I don't want to spend the money on the autograph and than send it to psa and take the chance they don't Authentic it. So my cards end up being double authenticated which I think is a good thing but at the same time that sticker on the back can end up kinda looking like an eye sore
I haven't heard of this -- they put a sticker on the actual card? Seems like it might affect the resale value, but if it's for your PC, that shouldn't matter. Especially if you are sending to PSA anyway, I'd avoid it. I like the idea of an authentication sticker on the back of a photo or on a ball, but not sure about one stuck on a card. Interested to hear what the other guys think. Thanks for watching and commenting
Chris here - I recently sent a card in for an autograph at a signing and I paid for the Beckett COA. It’s a sticker on the back. Because I didn’t see the auto, and it’s for a PC piece, I wanted the sticker. And I’m glad I have it.
If you grade your signed card, would you want the card graded too?
I guess I've just been worried psa won't authenticate the auto for some reason or there's at least a chance they wont ,so I've been getting the beckett c.o.a sticker, but my question is do you think it decreases the value with the beckett sticker on the back of the card once its in a psa slab, i mean if I was just buying a psa/dna card I'd prefer it with no sticker so my thought is it probably does decrease the value but idk... u can copy and paste this in ebay to see my example if u want- 2023 Bowman Sapphire Edouard Julien Autograph PSA 10 AUTO 10 POP 1 RED INK
@@Wicky952 it’s interesting that PSA graded the card a 10 with the sticker on the back!!
Honestly, I doubt it decreases the value much if it all, especially with the PSA 10.
Remember the excitement/buzz when Puig was when he got called up?
Yes! And he lived up to it for awhile! 🐎
Hey Jeff,Chris,T-Pot,Philmington,and Lance behind the scenes looking forward to Scott back in the mix once he returns I definitely agree with T-Pot if it’s already a good deal I’ll pull the trigger quick here and there I’ll send a courtesy DM about a card on a price to negotiate for it as not to insult or aggravate them prospect wise Zack Gelof and Xavier Isaac are my choices thanks for another awesome video
Hey Alan!
T-Pot knows how to buy a card! Haha
I like Gelof too, I just wish he didn’t play in Oakland…
Just lost on a Gelof snipe a few days ago actually
@@Philmington that awful I was able to acquire an HTA exclusive on card auto Bowman Chrome 1st Gold Shimmer 3 months ago thankfully happy hunting hunting
Great show, guys. I think there is a lot of upside with Michael Harris. He’s only 22 and does a lot well. Even if he ticks up his walk rate 2% he’ll be a 5-6.5 war guy. I picked up his heritage black chrome recently on eBay /74.
Chris here - I’m right there with you on Michael Harris. Only card of his I have so far is the stadium club auto - love the image.
Great heritage black pick up!
He’s got potential to really rack up WAR. He’ could be a faster Andruw Jones-type.
Came up so young. Lots of years of counting stats to come!
Thanks for watching!
Nice pickup! 🖤
I'm excited to see how Jackson Holliday performs!
💯💯 he’ll one of the most watched/scrutinized players all spring!
Ok I think I’m a Scottie B fanboy because I was a bit sad not to see him again haha thanks for the show guys glad to see the channel keeps steadily growing
Not to worry, he will be back this week! 💪🏼
Went to the “biggest card show” in Louisiana’s history today. 200 tables which is really big for our location. Picked up a 1st BC auto JROD BGS 9.5 for $790 cash which I thought was solid. Most of the tables were way overpriced though.
Sounds like the hobby is alive and well in Louisiana! Thanks for the update and nice pickup!
I went to the show in Washington, pa. 350 tables. It was hard to find anything Mookie. I don’t get it!
I don’t get the lack of Mookie out there!
It didn’t smell like there were windows. Lol
Lol
Do you think a lot of the volatility with the Holliday autos is bc of the QC issues? Pretty sure there are a lot of 9s or raw copies that won’t gem, bc of issues
They definitely can’t all gem. I mean if they could, the gem values would fall, right?
Luckily BGS/SGC are there for the ones that won’t gem!
Casey Schmitt 3B/SS/2B SF Giants
Chris here - I’m not familiar with him but I’ll check him out.
Thanks for watching!
Holliday cards already way too high priced. Some of Gunnar Henderson stuff I like but his numbered or SSP is too expensive. Orioles have a lot of hot prospects besides Holliday. We shall see how it all pans out..
Chris here - I few the same way. Holliday’s prices feel like 3 MVP’s are already baked in.
Spencer Jones to the moon lol
That ball was nuked!
43:43 Careful there with that Kelenic love, BBCA… your boy Charmin-Soft Scottie B will throw a tantrum if you don’t blindly 💩 on JK
Breaks my heart he’s not in Seattle anymore (we’ll have words later about your cheap shot at the Mariners, k?) but I hope he absolutely tears the cover off the ball this year for the 2nd or 3rd best team in the NL East.
ps - can u help me with something? I’m trying to think of the last Rockies prospect who was better than Kelenic has been even thus far - can’t come up with a single swingin’ bick much less a guy who can swing a bat. Idk, maybe you can think of one and help me out. Thanks!!
Hahaha - Chris here, I’m trying to be realistic about Kelenic. But hopes are high.
Strange off season in Seattle. Lots of contract dumping and not much roster improving.
Pitching staff is in great shape but they could use a bat! Julio seems ready for superstardom. I’d love to see him take the Next step, like Acuna did last year.
Anyone buying Matt Olson? ~Matts stats likely blow away any of the current hot prospects in terms of any of their future achievements... Royce Lewis is the only young gun I'm accumulating.
I am lol. He had the quietest 54 hr season ever.
his resume is heading him to the HOF in all likelihood assuming another several seasons of like terms.....@@hackdaddy8744
ok I have a question that might be dumb but I'm asking it seriously. When a dealer or a trader wants to use ebay comps are they taking into consideration selling and shipping fees? because an ebay 100 dollar sale would actually be like a 75 dollar cash sale right?
eBay fees are 12%. Dealers at shows obviously have fees too.
A $100 sale on eBay is closer to $85 after fees because most of the time the buyer pays the $4-5 for shipping.
