Last month brought us Google’s first foray into the foldable phone market, the Pixel Fold, and now we’ve got Samsung's latest revisions to their foldable lineup: the Z Fold5 and the Z Flip5. We already tackled the Fold in another video, you’ll find a link down in the description, so today we’re looking at the smaller of the two, the Galaxy Z Flip5.

I'm wondering if putting a film protection on the hinge will affect the mechanism, as I noticed it got tighter to flip open after installing one.
Hi Guys, big fan here and thank you for your videos. I am sure you are aware by now but Samsung just became the new Apple. Their latest update to the OneUI 6.1 (AI update) renders third party screen replacement useless. The touchscreen stops working and the SPen is still functional. Would love you to make a video about it. Thank you

does the flip 5 have the teardrop/droplet/waterdrop bend of the display like the fold 5? to enhance the durability. or it still has the harsher bend like the previous folds?

Very unlikely. Smartphones are built to be as compact as possible with almost no empty space. That's why you'll see back glass panels (Android phones; screens for iPhones) bulging or them separating from the frame when the battery starts swelling.
I wonder how they will address needing user replaceable batteries soon.
They added pull tabs to the batteries, any user with ifixit toolkit will be able to replace the battery :) No, seriously, I don't remember law mentioning user replacable batteries, just easily replacable batteries. It's already possible in this gen phones.

Would prefer it if we had a new version of the Galaxy folder ( a different phone entirely to to the fold). Same camera as the flip 5, full size OLED touch screen, Android 14 and a physical QWERTY keyboard. Something similar to the Blackberry Style 9670.
3:30 Samsung should take it a step further and make them as swappable as a Samsung Galaxy Note 4's. 🔋
Looks badly designed
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. With all the compromises of flip phones I can see no practical user case other than the wow factor.
When the phone is closed the inner screen is the most durable screen on planet earth, you know the first basic functionality of a flip phone. The phone holds itself up,you can watch videos and movies and take your own photos and video while it holds itself up perpetual free.
It fits in women's pockets and doesn't fall out of men's pockets getting in and out of the car. If you want to go jogging, it can clip to your belt or pants and it's not going anywhere. There's many more examples, many more, like the coverscreen using 1/3rd the battery every other phone uses, or how it keeps certain people off social media...... you can't see ONE practical application? Bro go to the doctor and get checked for tumors, cancer of the brain.
Not sure why folding is even a thing. Customers should stay far away from this.
I've had The Flip 3, with one screen protector replaced under warranty. I'm now using the Razr Plus since June. I love the form factor a lot.
I’d stay away from it myself. If you’re going to make one .. make it really look like a Star Trek communicator. I do like the pull tab batteries though.
I was discouraged from buying a foldable by my local carrier store..not even the staff there like them!
I prefer the traditional flip phones like the Sony Ericcsson Z700

I do miss pen and Dex support but other than that I don't regret it
