    Nice work, Aaron; very concise and accurate! I think you've explained all of this in a fair few previous videos, but it's good to have a definitive video like this one :)

    I liked that you added the tip of disguising the kick at the end of the video. It's a super underrated tactic along with conditioning the opponent to expect other techniques and switching it up last second

    How heavy of ankle weights do you use?

    • @dduncan55330
      @dduncan55330 7 років тому +10

      AnimeHurricane I use 3 pounds on each leg, but I started with 2.5 lbs. It really does help, my kicking speed went up noticeably. Practice the motion of the kicks (not full speed or force though) while wearing them and your kicks will get faster, stronger, and easier. I wear them all day, everyday, except I severely sprained my ankle last week so I haven't been. Once I heal up, it'll be everyday again.

    • @GingerNinjaTrickster

      It's only the small one. Usually jump higher but it was hard to get balance on top of at first.

    Good tutorial, you pretty much covered everything. I find kicking with shoes on is a good aswell. It makes your legs heavier but not as heavy as ankle weights. Then kick bare foot, feet feel lighter and its easy to land those techniques quicker ☺

    Been using ankle weights for years and got to say it has worked wonders on my kicks. But as you said you need to train smart with them! have too many friends who have hurt them self wearing either too heavy or going with full force. Train smart, take your time and don't let the ego take over. Good tutorial as usual.

    Finally something that can help me in my competitions. Didn't knew some of those exercises can help with kicking speed. I red comments that says puting weight isn't a good idea but I agree with you. Actually it helps a lot and its obvious that you don't recomend putting like 5 kilos each leg. I've done many similar exercises with small weights and it gave me the most amount of progress. Waiting for next videos😃

    I use a lot of these principles when I train my boy so it's good to have my ideas confirmed by a pro. I particularly like the part with the roundhouse kick showing how to execute it faster but with less power, this will definitely help him in his points fighting :) BOOM, awesome vid. grea tips! I've found that doing slow motion kicks really good for balance, strength and accuracy then moving from slow motion to getting faster and faster really good. of course, like you said some kicks are just made for speed - front kicks and turning kicks especially. thanks again!

    Very cool to score points. And, to ward off attackers. When I trained taekwondo, I had the same attitude. When you fight someone you need to use those same skills to get into a position before you kick. You''re footwork is awesome, your speed is awesome. May I request, you try again with someone wearing full body armour walking you down. So, you are in a closed ring/space. If they come in close, you have to move to gain the space and then kick. It depends what you want the martial art for, to win in a fight, or to get away. If you stand with someone bigger than you, you must move and make the hit count, then move again. Great work though my friend, you are a true taekwondo master, RESPECT!

    I still practice my kicks moves with the help of the wall. When I try without, I lose balance... and when I don't lose balance, my leg can't stay too long in a high position. It always goes down. The last tip was something I exploited a lot when I practiced TKD because I wasn't very fast. Amateurs at my level like to throw a lot of roundhouse kicks because they're powerful, so what I did was combine a spinning kick with the block for their roundhouse kick. Almost got disqualified from a tournament for almost taking a kid's headgear off with that one.
