I feel like FF14 PvP is quite fun and easy to pick-up at a casual level. I know my friends who are much more into PvP complain about a lot of jank, toxicity, and salt at the higher levels, but personally, it's a quick and fun thing for me to play to kill some time.
I don’t enjoy FFXIV PvP, but I’m fully aware that it’s because of my shortcomings rather than an inherent issue of the game. My reaction time and ability to think and act under pressure is awful, so usually by the time I realize what I should do, I’m already dead.
@@Thefire591 unfortunately muscle memory seems to be something that I have a really hard time developing - could be related to my various Brain Issues ™️. I still click most of my abilities that aren’t on like the first four numbers. And I get frustrated really quickly, so even if I tried to play PvP enough to develop that muscle memory, I’d be miserable for the majority of the time.
Hey Russ! I've been a long-term wow player and gave ffxiv a shot about 4 years ago which I quickly retreated back to wow. I was gearing up for season of discovery when my brother once again convinced me to return back to eorzea instead of SOD. I found your channel recently and have been watching and playing as I am more of a sprout than a returning player, gave you a sub last night and made the realization we are in the same world! I always admire seeing the wanderers and the travelers... their glam, them grouped outside of some content I am yet familiar with or just out in the world is all very inspirational as a newer player. I am still on my OG character but this time around I am taking my precious time to enjoy the rest of story with the hopes I will still be caught up by DT. I hope you continue to enjoy your journey and I look forward to supporting your channel and maybe crossing paths with Russ Just'stallin'.
Haha awesome comment! Glad you are enjoying both the content and being back in the game! If you want to make it stick this time for sure then definitely swing by the stream and mingle with the community we are building over there. It's always more fun with like minded people and everyone's just there for a good time so might make some friends. Hope to see you there and in-game :D
If you haven't try frontline. A lot more people and a lot more chaos. One downside with it is that it is very much possible to get stun locked from 100% hp to death. You can also go in as an actual party instead of hoping you get in with certain people.
I find Frontline a good way to see how you like a pvp class set in a combat setting. Due to the 24v24v24, you yourself barely matter really. It's really just a roving mob gank fight at its core. CC is faster, but as a 5v5, your actions due matter quite a bit more.
what i absolutly adore in ff14 pvp it has absolutly no influence on pve and you can ignore it completly if you dont like it without missing anything, but IF you spend time, you get some really awesome stuff like fantastic glamours (especially glasses
Yeah I really like that! and because you get different abilities it can be balanced entirely seperately than PvE so some jobs dont suffer in one area because of the other :D
thank you for going over your pvp attacks and making me realize that i don't actually know what any of the drg secondary effects actually *are* other than the two that deal more damage when you're further away. in my defense i think just knowing which buttons to press and pressing them as hard as possible is peak drg behavior
PvP can be fun with a group of friends I imagine, though I think it’s not my cup of tea truth be told. Doesn’t mean it can’t be fun though, and damn does it give a lovely set of glamours for your trouble. Though 14 is all about exploring different facets of content you normally don’t do. Cheers Russ.
I mean, you're playing dragoon ^^° They are usually top kill priority for the other team - dragoon and ninja... aaaaaand the healers ^^ The fun part is its quick: you win fast and if you lose, you dont have to suffer for a long time :D
im not a big fan of PvP in MMOs, mainly because i get rolled even if am at an advantage (git gud i know) but if i do PvP i prefer large scale since my inevitable death wont harm the team too much 😅
I personally never cared for the Flashiness in games when pvping. Its dope when youre leveling , but shit , cant even tell what happening anymore when 10+ people are letting off like the 4th of July on the screen.
PVP looks so trash. The only thing i can see is the flashing spells on the screen. I wanted to start playing the game but after seeing this video no way.
You can turn those effects down. Like the video says, this was my first time trying PvP. I’ve no idea how to optimise the gameplay experience but I can only tell you I had fun. If that’s not a good enough reason to try a video game then I don’t know what is 😬
true this looks terrible. im now convinced this is a 100% pve game. never seen a worse pvp in a mmo. 0 indication what is happening on the screen except seeing hp bars going down

absolutely. I think it's great as something you just go into for a laugh now and then

ha did he like cc better
Frontline is a game of map awareness and coordernation rather than a test of pvp skill, if you think of it like that it is a lot of fun.

I have tried it but not quite got the hang of Frontlines yet. But really enjoy CC
The best part of Frontline is having a popato PC and having 10-20 seconds delay on your moves as the 72 people throwing spells bakes your popato.

Definitely try pvp with different jobs. They all play completely differently. Black Mage, Summoner, and Astrologian are my go to's.
I'll have to try a few more for sure!
The pvp is a lot of fun! Glad you enjoyed it and shared your first time experiencing it! 😁
Glad you enjoyed!
if you're gonna run ffxiv pvp def bind your 'target closest enemy' to something, its very useful in pvp
Yep i try to bind that every time i do some pvp now! thanks :D
This was a game changer for me. Great in PvE too, I just always have it on. Great tip.

Cheers! I think everything is fun to try out in small doses with friends for sure :D

100% that why i enjoy it, its over and done in 10 min win or loss and then just go again until you get bored. really nice!
I need to get around to trying CC & Rival Wings still
I've only done Frontline since it's the one with a roulette and huge exp boost
Pvping is one of my favorite things to do this in game, especially as paladin, and machinist, the battlegrounds are my favorite!
i bet you are immortal as a paladin in battlegrounds :o also i love machinist
Yeah, thats exactly why the paladin is fun, and machinist is super fun too, gotta try it in your future :D @@JustRuss
I loved the CC grind when waiting for raiding to start lol.
nice. love me some xivpvp casually. it's really addicting once you get it figured out.
Whether you like PvP or not WoLs are definitely in it for the glam
amen!
4:25 I cannot see anything due to visual effects :S
I hope you get a chance yo do Rival Wings during the next tomestone event
I'll keep my eyes open for it :D

Haha i felt like this when I was in frontlines for sure. I know what you mean!
can you reduce the spell effect? That is way too much, how can see what is going on? lol.
I might have since then! I'm not sure to be honest haha. I'll check again!
You should turn your spell effects waaaay down if you want to actually see what happens.
I personally never cared for the Flashiness in games when pvping.
Its dope when youre leveling , but shit , cant even tell what happening anymore when 10+ people are letting off like the 4th of July on the screen.

it is! defo recommend trying it out :D

@martinivanov1319 sounds like a personal problem ngl you’re clearly old with shtty eyes.
That’s why you turn off other players animations if you’re too old to use your eyes bro.
He is never going to pvp again is he
wenz pvp russ
it is garbage, but pvp player dont have any choice but play it. it needs huge changes, im just sayin 30 min Que time for ranked
Sadly, this PvP looks garbage af, hopefully PvE is a banger
