Great set of notes detailing out everything, nice to be able to read it out as well as watching. One thing that confuses me about the chords though. For A major chord it has A + C + E. But between the A and the C there is only 2 notes, so wouldnt that make it a Minor? Also with the inversions of the Chords from the video he has 4 notes inbetween, particularly GCE, but is still called a Major? If anyone could make it clearer would be much appreciated.

Being a visual learner, thanks for actually painting a picture to help me finally understand the building of a chord. You've just made the piano a little less intimidating for this nearly 60 year old who's tackling this lifelong challenge. Your technique is my favorite introduction to understanding chords.
What a great explanation in such a short time. I am very musical and play 5 other instruments including the Anglo concertina, but my piano teacher in gr. 8 slapped me on my fingers with a stick because I could not read sheet music! (Which I still cannot do but I produce instrumental arrangements for local TV.) She put me off from piano for the rest of my life. If anyone could just explain the chords like you did in under 10 minutes to me instead of wacking me on my fingers, I could have been a pianist a long time ago. Thank you, you have a gift. You speak my language and do not require that I first have to struggle through learning sheet music to understand piano. You put me back behind my keyboard in 7 minutes. God bless!!

Thank you for your excellent video! 😃 After reading through many comments about being confused or unknowing about chord types, I advise the following two steps for all music learners just getting started (main priority): (1) Learn the 12 note names (2) Learn the 12 Major chords All other chord types are easily built from the Major chords-This will simplify your music life! Take care and Happy Practicing. 🎵
Thank you so much!!! When I was 7 my teacher just made me memorize all the chords and i have terrible memory and ended up never learning or using chords, this makes it so much easier
This video just glued everything together. There were things I understood and things I didn't really get and it brought everything home for me!! Thank you

The one down side, His rapid rate of delivery, but given that I have the ability to SLOOOOW down the video, I can and Will, replay over a few time, Cos I LIKE to be in the LIGHT! Good Job. Thanks! Peace.
I usually never like videos, but brother this video worth it, there's no bullshit talk straight to the point, it's just amazing ! I learned a lot in these 7 minutes. Thanks a lot man!
This is so incredibly helpful. I know chords but solely because I just memorized them, this actually broke down how they are created. Its so simple yet I never thought about it.
I have watched countless vids on theory, circle of fifths (still don’t know it) and all that progression stuff just to learn to play. Have watched this video, and now know more just like that. God bless you man
I use to "dabble" with guitar. I knew a few chords and played a little, very little, but nothing grand and still have no true knowledge of music theory. However I injured my ring finger on my fret hand (nerve damage .. tried to catch a knife when it slipped out of my hand and sliced up my finger pretty bad. Good catch, stupid thing to do)) and so now I'm trying ... at the nice young age of 50 ... plus ... :) to give the piano a go. Just as a little hobby, no future plans or anything just something to mess around with and maybe learn a Beatle tune or something. However, you are the first person that I have seen in my youtube searches that showed me the "intervals". I knew how to make a major C chord, but didn't truly know WHY it was the way it was. Oh sure, I have seen people use the "3-2" spacing description in their videos, but the way you just described it ... it was like a little light-bulb went off in my head. As this video is so old, I have no idea what you are doing now, if you are still around or not or if you will ever see this or not, but just wanted to say thanks!! That little bit helped me a lot. So yeah, THANKS!! Perry
What an amazingly easy way to understand how to build chords. No joke, I would sit at the piano and look up scales and try to build chords that way. I feel stupid that I didn't just figure out that you could count the notes like that.
This is perhaps one of the best videos on chords that I have found on UA-cam ! Simple and easy to follow and at the same time very informative ! I was trying to figure out how the notes for the chords are determined - when I googled, the explanations involved a lot of music theory which may not be very easy for a beginner to follow, but after going through this 8 min video, it all makes sense ! Thanks a lot for this !
This is one of the most informative and useful videos out there. Concise - to the point - and very well spoken. You are a really good teacher. A really good one. Thanks for making this video. I definitely learned a lot of excellent and important things from this video.
I can't say how thankful I am for this video, for a while now I have been wanting to learn piano and music theory, but nothing ever made sense, but a little over a year ago I watched this video, and that was when everything started clicking, and now I am still learning, but this video definitely kicked it off!
OH MY FREAKING BALLS - this is THE best information I ever seen on UA-cam. I very rarely get the "mind blown" effect - but this? the 3m/M+3M/m chords method made me memorize them all instantly, like a missing puzzle piece in my brain... I get that some people will go for the classical way but this is such an insane shortcut it doesn't even matter if your teacher would look down on in. Thanks so much!
I will have to come back and replay this - but I love how you explained this, it is the first lesson I've grasped so quickly about piano keyboard theory. I was going slowly insane. .... I might cry. Now I am worried you are kidding me on. I have been up all night, but I might watch that again as it was so logical I am still stunned. I think I might have to watch it several times, but that's cool. I think it will work for me.
OMG this is like the best ever chords theory + practical implementation I have ever seen when you understands this, you can just construct any chords nearly on the fly, instead of memorising all the chords and their inversions basically after this 7 minutes video, I am able to play chords to my guitar piece without even finding out onlone how these chords would look like on the piano THANKS MAN!!!
Daaaang I love this. I’ve played guitar 30 years and just now picking up piano ( like starting today). So glad I found this, it’s a huge jumpstart for me. I’ve tinkered with pianos enough in the past to know a few chords then use my know how to make the sounds I needed to make, but this really helps.
This has been amazingly helpful for understanding and learning new chords in a quick and efficient way! Thank you so much for this comprehensive and super helpful video!💙💙💙💙

Short but helpful !! Thank you for this vdo
THIS IS THE MOST GIFTED PIANO TEACHER I have seen on the internet! i would pay anything for it if i have the money to
Omggggg....
What did I just watch? I've never seen anyone describe the notes so simply and understandably.
Thank you ❣ You are an amazing teacher 🤗🎵🎵🎵
Thank you for your excellent video! 😃
After reading through many comments about being confused or unknowing about chord types, I advise the following two steps for all music learners just getting started (main priority):
(1) Learn the 12 note names
(2) Learn the 12 Major chords
All other chord types are easily built from the Major chords-This will simplify your music life!
Take care and Happy Practicing. 🎵
Thank you so much!!! When I was 7 my teacher just made me memorize all the chords and i have terrible memory and ended up never learning or using chords, this makes it so much easier
amazing work. ive been trying to grasp this stuff for hours and you explain it so simply.
If you want to learn how to play piano like a pro then go here: PianoPro.xyz
The most knowledgeable and most fabulous video I have ever found on UA-cam❤️❤️😍😍🙌🏻🙌🏻
This video just glued everything together. There were things I understood and things I didn't really get and it brought everything home for me!! Thank you
78 and Just coming to Piano - Chord structures have always managed to freeze my brain. But suddenly, this guy switches the light ON for me.
The best video i have seen! He explains so well. Definitely recommending to other beginners
Or pros 😂
Dude this is a great way to learn the difference between Major and Minor Chords.. Thanks man!!
God bless you man
This is quite possibly the best tutorial on UA-cam I have ever seen, and I'm not just talking about music tutorials.
This 8 minute video told me what other videos took 4 hours to say. Thank you!
Best chord theory lesson I’ve ever had. So well explained, i understand it and can visualize it.
Perry
ptsteelers this is so wholesome :). How’re your doing now, still on it?
That was the easiest lesson I've ever been given. Thank you so much : )
One of the best and most helpful video on UA-cam.
Thank you so much!
Thanks so much!
this definitely blew my mind. i’m trying to learn piano and this explanation is a new perspective!
I think it will work for me.
yea
Thanks to this video I can finally play the Jaws theme song even better
OMG
this is like the best ever chords theory + practical implementation I have ever seen
when you understands this, you can just construct any chords nearly on the fly, instead of memorising all the chords and their inversions
basically after this 7 minutes video, I am able to play chords to my guitar piece without even finding out onlone how these chords would look like on the piano
THANKS MAN!!!
I find myself in the “random education on things” corner of the internet again
Feels good...feels good
Wow this is basically my middle school music class in 8 minutes haha
I learned more here in 8 minutes then I learned in the 6 years of me playing the piano!
That doesn't speak very highly of your teacher.
The fastest and simplest way of piano theory with chord learnings, Cheers dude you're a time saver!
Probably the best video I have seen about how the different notes combine to form chords. Thanks a lot buddy :)
I think he'd be a great teacher if he just slowed down a little bit
T N he said he was making this as quickly as possible 😐
I clicked on .75 in settings and its the perfect timing if that helps!
My thoughts exactly. He speaks too fast, takes my brain a second to process but by then he is three more lessons ahead lol
Thank you 😭
@@tina27luv Ha! I will have to try that. Thanks for the tip.
Greatest theory guide I've ever watched on UA-cam :)
This has been amazingly helpful for understanding and learning new chords in a quick and efficient way! Thank you so much for this comprehensive and super helpful video!💙💙💙💙
This guy is just way to amazing !

Praise Jesus! Thank you Brother.
You did it. You were able to explain chords in a way that makes sense. You mad man you actually did it!! I have been struggling for YEARS watching hours worth of music theory to figure this out and you did it!! Thank you so much!!!!!
I never knew how simple it was to work out the chord progression, Thank you.
I’ve been playing piano my whole life lol, idk why I just watched this entire video
I don't even have a piano. I don't know why I watched the entire video either.
@@123ftw1 lol same. Lucky are those who have piano :((
@@123ftw1 hahahah
@@Lunayestrellas08 I'm borrowing my cousin's melodica, when i try to learn a song they always say minor major or something so that's why i'm here, i'm learning a new skill while in quarantine :D
I am going to start playing a piano tomorrow with no teacher have any tips on what I should practice,
I enjoyed this so much! You taught the chords so well - even though at lightening speed! I can actually make up a song now and my grand-daughter could not believe I did it! I'll be back!
Best piano lesson I’ve ever had👏🏽
This video is GOLD!!! I have never touched a piano or a keyboard but I think I now have a very good knowledge of chords...
