You could tell he was feeling, “all this power, and I couldn’t save them”. The look at Lois, but refusing to go by her side and then flying off into his own misery brought on by the misery of all those families. They screwed the pooch on this. If you’re going to make a movie, Release the entire damned movie. This was epic. A lack of Henry Cavil in future installations will deter me from seeing any Superman movies going forward. I don’t want the happy go lucky Superman. I want the Real Clark Kent. Struggling as an alien alone on a human planet trying to find himself and keep sane while harnessing the powers of a God. Excellent actor for the role.
Then what you want is a Martian Manhunter movie. What you described sums up that character PERFECTLY and would suit him much better, IMO. An alien, who thinks he’s the last of his kind (and, unlike Clark; he remembers his people and was forced to watched them die), walking amongst humans for decades pretending to be one of them by quite literally wearing a mask (shape shifting) in order to fit in yet feeling more alone than ever. Using his psychic abilities to try to understand them but being more and more confused. The strength and speed and psychic abilities of a god yet trying his best to live as a mere earthly man. He also doesn’t share the luck that Clark has in that his true form would be “monstrous” to an earthling and Clark happens to be one of the best looking guys on the planet. You think Clark’s life was difficult? Try doing all the same stuff with the same background (last alien of a dead race) but being a big green guy instead of the male model Clark is. There are tinges of racism, xenophobia, loneliness, yearning for belonging, all in that one character. MM is much more suited to the Snyder sensibilities, IMO, than Superman is. I’d actually be quite interested in his take on MM.
You have to admit, Cavill being casted as Supes was the best decision ever. An actual epitomy of Superman. Reeves and Routh were good, but, this guy is just perfect!
Reeve was perfect. He’s Superman no matter what. He set the standard that all are measured. Cavill perfectly embodies that standard and gave everything he had to the role while also making a Superman that is relevant to this world as we know it today. Reeve= Golden Age Cavill= Modern Age Routh= Could’ve been better but wasn’t horrible at all.
Why on god's green earth would I admit that Reeves, the actor that popularized Superman on the big screen and set the stage for every actor that came after, is worse than Cavill? I absolutely do not have to admit that because I'm not a spastic. Cavill is an outstanding superman, but it's fucking ridiculous to suggest Reeves is worse than him. Christ, the young complain about the old, but this is exactly why the old complain about the young. You literally have no idea how monumental Reeves contribution to acting as a whole was.
He was staying in the hotel I am working in. I am a night receptionist. Had a pseudonim - Jack Daniels. And a Akita dog with him.🐕 Did not recognize him as it was late - just gave him they key after asking for the name. Made sandwidges for him - roomservice. Haven't realized who he was, until he checked out. 🤔👏
Yeah but Clark doesn’t see himself as a God. He sees himself as a human with a responsibility to do good in this world. He’s the big blue Boy Scout and that’s what makes him great. Don’t get me wrong I like the suit, but nothing beats the classic.
@[GD] Nightly you did not understood my friend Batman joined Superman coz batman understood that superman is a good guy he's an evil , that he always thinks of that , and the death of SUPERMAN by doomsday was the gateway for the upcoming justice league movies if Superman didn't die in that movie so there would not be any justice league movie
@[GD] Nightly So you really expected Batman or Superman to die at each other's hand? And as far as winning is concerned...Batman won the fight...but Superman won the greater battle...he made Batman see the light again...made him realise he was becoming the very thing he swore to destroy. Besides, Batman was the one trying to kill Superman...Superman never wanted to kill him...he was forced into battle. And dying at the hands of Doomsday wasn't easy...he was holding a kryptonite spear for fucks sake...so he was weak and he didn't want anyone else to risk their life.
I 100% always related with what Superman was going through in both Man of Steel and this movie. To feel constantly criticized, second guessed, and being blamed for things that were out of your control. This version is why I love Superman.
I cry every time I see him look around himself, and all he sees is body bags, from the people he couldn’t save. Then he looks at Lois. The music and emotion there, wow.
That part where superman helped get the people out of the building is so heart touching. I love that he is so humble and kind although he has the power to destroy the entire planet
The whole plot of BvS is the human reaction to Superman. Lex Luthor despises the notion of God so much and views Superman as such that he is willing to do ANYTHING at all to destroy him. He feels threatened by Superman. But Lex is either unwilling or unable to see just how human Superman is. And the bitter irony is that in this very scene, by murdering hundreds of lives without a second thought, JUST to debase Superman, Lex proves how inhuman he is in comparison to Superman.
honestly imo, that's what itched me the wrong way in this movie: it's literally called *BATMAN v *SUPERMAN*, yet there's alot of focusing on so many characters like Lex, how the people reacted to superman on earth, etc. when it should've been about Batman's reaction a bit more. what i thought would've improved the movie was keeping all of that plot, except express it more through Bruce. an amount of the audience felt a little misled with the title when the two only fought in the third act ONLY. overall, this movie is still extremely underrated.
@@bumbum3751 I mean that’s the point. The frontal story is Batman vs Superman. In reality however lex is controlling the whole story. He is manipulating this whole fight to happen to a point you can argue this fight may never happen without lex. He invited both of them to a party knowing who they truly are. He sent those letters with red writing to Bruce making him believe they were from the amputee in the wheelchair. He even orchestrated the desert fight where they blamed Superman for innocents death. So yes BatmanvSuperman title is meant to be a ruse because Batman and Superman are both being deceived.
The piano melody that starts at 3:41 is a rendition of "If You Love These People" from the Man of Steel soundtrack. I think it was a genius move on Hans' part. Clark does love these people, and seeing those he couldn't save must have been overwhelmingly heartbreaking for him.
"They can be a great people Kal El if they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all. Their capacity for good. I have sent them you. My only son." Jor El played by Marlon Brando Superman The Movie and Superman 2 The Richard Donner Cut
“This job, we try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn’t mean everybody. But if we can’t find a way to live with that, next time… maybe nobody gets saved.”

It’s crazy how Superman can just fly away from all of this or just destroy the whole world but he decides to take responsibility for his actions... Truly a remarkable and inspiring character
Something that always gets me, is the part where Superman open the small door before the microphone. He could easily fly over that or even not attend to the meeting, but instead he choose to do it in order to show how human and protective he is. He let the humans decide wheter he's a monster or not and that is something incredible coming from such a powerful creature. Other DC characters would go full Homelander on that
Yes he is some God-like creature and still more human than us Also i really like the officer dialogue after Superman saves that human shows that a little human makes an individual as powerful as Superman becomes as powerless
For those of you who don't understand the significance of the jar of liquid the Senator had on her desk. Earlier in the film, Lex wanted clearance to legally mine the Kryptonite found in the Indian Ocean so he can weaponize it. Senator Finch didn't allow him. Also, in the scene he asks whether he can call her 'June' (her name is June Finch). She says, "You can call me whatever you like. *Take a bucket of piss and call it Granny's peach tea.* Take a weapon of assassination and call it deterrence. You won't fool a fly or me. I'm not gonna drink it."
so he doesn't try to fool her with the "urine" and just uses it to throw her off guard so he can kill her? To me it seems like Senator Finch was right all along and didn't fall for his lies.
This movie is honestly a masterpiece, im not even a snyder fan boy but I watched this movie (the UE) like 2 weeks ago and I loved it, I don't get the hate at all. Ive never seen the theatrical version but all ik is that the ultimate edition is so well made.
Old Punjabi Hits Its stupid how they have superhuman say Martha and becomes friends. There is no plot. Doomsday comes up out of no where and just kills Superman. Lex is stupid and made a monster that could kill everyone including himself. Superman is too dark and Batman is ok. Then Superman dies. Why couldn’t they name it batman and Superman become friends and fight doomsday.
When people lose faith in their heroes... heroes start to lose faith in themselves. Cavill played such a layered Superman so well, with confidence, strength, compassion, vulnerability, and with lots of inner conflict. His Clark Kent may need a bit of work, but he certainly nailed it for the part of the Man of Steel. I hope we'll get to see him again in the role in future DCEU projects.
If you're still alive These movies stand as an anthology to the good ol' Superman we know from the comics. So it kind of makes sense that his Clark Kent needs work. He's the Man of Steel. Almost literally. He hasn't had the time to add the next layer, the one we see at the end of JL.
Superman had so much trust and believe in humanity to where as he would never or could never think that that could happen. He always give humanity the benefit of the doubt, and when he does we fail him with evil acts like this one. Such a young and gullible alien I feel bad for him and the people. That’s why he did nothing to prevent it. Because he would never think that could’ve happened. He thought he was going to court for one thing and another thing happen, deception at its best. It was so well put together a great movie.. can’t save them all
That's because like Reeve as Superman said to Lex in the 1978 movie when they meet the first time. "Is that how a warped brain like yours gets its kicks? By causing the death of innocent people?" Lex defiantly responds "No. By causing the death of innocent people." and Gene Hackman's Lex does have a warped brain. He uses nuclear missiles to destroy California by causing "The Big One" California is expecting and it will form a new west coast with islands named after him and he plans to destroy Hackensack, New Jersey by a nuclear missile too. The scene when Superman is drowning and slowly dying in Lex's swimming pool while he has a kryptonite necklace around his neck Lex's girlfriend Eve Tessmacher played by Valerie Perrine says "Lex, My mother lives in Hackensack." Lex looks at his watch and shakes his head and gives her that look like he's saying "Not anymore!" That is truly a warped and twisted Lex Luthor
The fact that Superman could enslave and or destroy the earth if he wanted to, but instead goes to fucking court , should show what kind of person he is and what his intentions are
I personally wish they had a full on court scene with Superman without the whole action hero bomb moment. I wanted to see Superman represent himself in court and fight for what I believed was right, only to have the justice system try to incarcerate him.
Nah, that Senator was about to expose Lex. Even letting Superman speak was going to sway negative public opinion to the positive truth, Lex couldn't have that happen.
I really think they could have given Superman and the Senator a small back and forth before the explosion. I definitely would’ve liked a scene of Superman making a case before the senate but I also understand why they couldn’t really give us that if this scene was to be effective
What I love about this movie is they challenged superman’s existence. In his position I would have just took off and left earth for good. But then again there’s Lois and Martha and the messages from both Dads tying Superman to earth.
Okay, okay, real talk right now. I don't know if anyone else has already commented this or noticed it already and I'm just super late in realizing it...but when Bruce reads the newspaper clipping that says 'You let your family die', does anyone else hear a man screaming in the background? Because I just realized it, and the first thing that popped into my head was Jason Todd and the Joker and now I have chills. I don't know if this was intentional or I'm reading too deep into things but... 0_0
I'm gonna say it: Henry's greatest acting moment for me from all of the things I've seen him in is 3:02. The look of pure defeat on his face is so poetic and incredible
I think the part he truly shined was when he met Lex at the top of the tower. He went from anger (after he almost killed Lois), to incomprehension (when Lex revealed he knew who he was), to assurance (when Lex tells he wants him to fight Bruce, while Lois is safe on the ground), to pure shock and horror (when Lex reveals he holds Martha hostage), to untamed rage (when he threatens Luthor with his heat vision), to frustration and powerlessness (when Lex bends Clark to his will). The way Henry changed his expression and acting in just a minute was such an underrated piece of acting
I love how he feels so much guilt amidst the fire, yet when paramedic thanks him for his help, he seems to feel... Strange, like he doesen't know how to react, but still feels some comfort in hearing that.

He saved most of em tho
What? Are you kidding? Why would they cut him helping them out? That MADE this entire scene. His facial expression showing that helplessness and regret.
Man I couldn’t have said it better myself. I wish you were making this movie, that is the Superman I want to see on the big screen.
I feel the same way!! Well said!!

You have to admit, Cavill being casted as Supes was the best decision ever. An actual epitomy of Superman. Reeves and Routh were good, but, this guy is just perfect!
Plus Routh has atom
Reeve was perfect. He’s Superman no matter what. He set the standard that all are measured.
Cavill perfectly embodies that standard and gave everything he had to the role while also making a Superman that is relevant to this world as we know it today.
Reeve= Golden Age
Cavill= Modern Age
Routh= Could’ve been better but wasn’t horrible at all.
Henry is just a different flavor of Superman than reeves is, but he’s still a decent Superman
@@hobomike6935 He's beyond decent he's perfect
Why on god's green earth would I admit that Reeves, the actor that popularized Superman on the big screen and set the stage for every actor that came after, is worse than Cavill? I absolutely do not have to admit that because I'm not a spastic. Cavill is an outstanding superman, but it's fucking ridiculous to suggest Reeves is worse than him.

@cart 55 thats not spandex, that's actually high-tech armor from criptone
I just wish the colours had a little more pop. They're so muted that it looks boring.

Yeah but Clark doesn’t see himself as a God. He sees himself as a human with a responsibility to do good in this world. He’s the big blue Boy Scout and that’s what makes him great. Don’t get me wrong I like the suit, but nothing beats the classic.

When people lose faith in their heroes... heroes start to lose faith in themselves. If you're still alive
These movies stand as an anthology to the good ol' Superman we know from the comics. So it kind of makes sense that his Clark Kent needs work. He's the Man of Steel. Almost literally. He hasn't had the time to add the next layer, the one we see at the end of JL.

Lex defiantly responds "No.

You don’t have to say it. Like 20 other people already did bud.

This is whats the consequences are in bvs
Zack did that on purpose not just because Superman was still learning but to portray how godlike powers can do
Superman did not destroy a city, Zod did the most damage determined to kill all humans one by one. Note that it was a small portion of Metropolis destroyed by the World Engine considering its size. Unfortunately, people at the scene had different perspective unaware an alien saved them from annihilation.
@@Tippotipo Are you saying certain people made a judgement based on limited information?
@@PR--un4ub I mean, even after watching Man of Steel movie, there are people who complain Superman for destrutctions in the movie even tho its was 90% caused by World Engine and Zod Fight..
So it makes sense that the media and public in the movie also will make the same accusations on Superman
Man of steel and Batman vs Superman are masterpieces and no one can change my mind
Lol
I agree
Man of Steel is decent. It's full of flaws but it gets a lot right. BvS is hot fucking trash. Both the theatrical and the other one. Calling it a masterpiece is insulting to the art of good filmmaking.
@@kiwi2257 why dont u say whats so bad about bvs
@@wingknight7132 A lot of things. Like combining The Dark Knight Returns and The Death of Superman. They would literally need a miniseries for each book to do them correctly. Another being the casting of Lex, which is almost as bad as Leto's Joker. Then the fact Batman and Superman have no moral qualms or real differences in their ideologically and fight for a dumb reason that could've been averted with a 30 second conversation. The fight is also kind of boring. The introduction videos to each JL member was hilarious. And don't get me started on the Martha scene. Movie tried to do too much and did most of it wrong.
Just imagine 'WHAT IF' Lois Lane is in the blast area and died from explosion.Batman nightmare will literally start from here.
I don't know why people don't like this movie. It's good and make sense in almost every possible way. Bruce and Clark both have good reasons to fight against each other and as always Supes didn't go for fight first he wanted to talk, it was Bruce who didn't listen. And People say he doesn't smile like other versions, so much is going on in this movie so can he smile with this chaos
True. Thats Realistic.
"Ohhhh, I hate when people try to blow me up."
- Superman
the scene moves me even until this day. everything about it - from the humility to the chaos to the dispair. excellent scene.
Heny really nailed the role. I dont wanna see anyone else as superman.
Man the music is so good just like a movie😭😭😭
Horrible movie

04:06 this was the moment Superman realise he was not flash
He don't know flash at that time I think!
If you mean super speed by flash, then it's OK!
He is fast but wasn't fast enough here, his guard wasn't up and that's why they died
the emotion we feel when we see kal looking over the dead bodies. henry plays superman like no one has ever and zach's take on kal-el is beyond
GOD BLESS ZACK SNYDER AND HIS FAMILY FOR ETERNITY AND INFINITY.
agreed
-AND BEYOND!
2:56 The man on the left side and the woman on the right were laughing....😂
Maybe they work for Lex 😂
When that split second when the senator and superman both looked at Wally, I bet Superman heard some sort of timer go off or some mechanical noise in his wheelchair.
