I like your theory of a solid and a varigateted thread to quilt your Afghan in the end it makes sense to do what you suggest w the threads

Love your liberty fabrics. I am in the process of doing a liberty fabric EPP myself at the moment. The. Choice of fabrics are lovely well worth the extra cost. Fabrics very random, but still go together really well. The quilt I am making is 108x108 inches. I have got 1.75 size hexagons, so it’s taking a good old while to do, but gives hours of pleasure sitting putting it together. Thank you for sharing your work with us.

I never would’ve thought to use variegated thread to quilt. I certainly wouldn’t have picked that orange one lol
    It looks great.

Great tutorial thank you , i need to get my hexies out of hibernation.
Do you stitch across each hexie in each direction ie 3 times?
Would you recommend a specific place to start the quilting?

    • @thestrawberrythief9299

      Hi :)
After I have hand tacked the entire quilt, I usually start from a corner and work my way across the quilt.
I would only do it in 2 directions to create diamond shapes across the quilt.
      I hope this makes sense?
      Have a beautiful day
      Robyn

Slow but steady, I’m now up to the hand quilting stage. Can you tell me which Aurofil 12 w variegated thread you chose? I love the idea of quilting circles.

When you start quilting, do you start in the middle of the quilt or at one edge and work across? How have you basted it? Love your tutorial.

    • @thestrawberrythief9299
      @thestrawberrythief9299  Рік тому

It really is a personal preference and would depend on the size of your quilt - as for the basting you might want to check out this tutorial - ua-cam.com/video/pJAI5JmgfUg/v-deo.html

Do you use batting on a Grandmother Flower Garden Quilt? Do you use a backing?

Usually, the stitching together of the Hexies for a Grandmother Flower Garden Quilt will create a flimsy (quilt top) and then batting and backing are used to complete the quilt
