      It really isn't that hard and you don't have to be brave to do it. Just make something small like a coaster first off.

    Thank-you, now I will know how to go about this when I try it. I just have to watch your hints on doing this on a large quilt as well. I love knowing what works before I get the problems happening. Thanks again.

    Julie, I love your video’s. I just started quilting this last February. I taught myself via You Tube videos and started EPP about month ago. Your video’s such as this one is how I’ve been learning. So, Thank you so very much. 💞🕊

    Watching this video again as I’ve come to the quilting part of my EPP hexagon quilt (which took a long while lol) and glad I did. I tried using a hoop and doing hand stitching as usual but unsuccessful. Your method is easier. The video is not too long because I’m also watching your actual stitching besides the explanations. Hoping your surgery is soon.

      Hi. I am glad this video has been of some help to you. I use hoops all the time for cross-stitching but I can't get everythging tight enough in a hoop to quilt so I don't even try. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

    I have enjoyed all your videos and like others have said, I like the detail. Did you know that batting has a right and wrong side? You can feel it, more than see it. The bumpy side goes toward your top and helps with the batting not pulling through with your stitches.

    Just found your videos. Plan to watch as many as I can find. Did you make the pin cushion we can see off to the side of some videos? It is great to sit and stitch along as you chat about your projects. I am new to EPP although I have quilted for over 60 years. I live alone with my cat in Mesa, Arizona. Hope your surgery went well.

    • @juliethornton
      @juliethornton  Рік тому

      Hi Fran. Thank you very much for watching and commenting. I didn't make the pin cushion in my videos....it was bought from my local quilting shop. You have a lot more experience quilting than I do as I am relatively new to it as I have described in my quilting journey video. I am not a machine sewing person but I do enjoy the hand sering processes in EPP as well as the time it takes to do it. I find machine sewing too quick for me even though my favourite ond most used quilt is machine sewn. Thank you again for watching and I hope that you find some things of interest in my videos. Incidentally, I am still waiting for surgery and I will explain why in my next video which I will make on Sunday.

      Hi Kyle, Thanks for the comment. If you go to my channel you will see a list of tabs under the banner saying things like home, videos, playlists etc. If you click on videos it will list them all usually starting with the newest first. You can change the viewing order by using a small drop down thing to the right of the screen once the videos are listed. Thanks

    Hello, Julie
    I've found your channel and really enjoy your videos!
    I watch you connect your hexies, and you make it look so easy! My problem is that many times my corners don't meet up. Should I ease the long side in so that it's a bit puckered but the end corners meet? or should I get to the end with two corners not lining up?

    • @juliethornton
      @juliethornton  3 роки тому

      Hi Kyle and thank your for the comment. I find a lot of my corners don't meet either and that is why sewing hexagons are so forgiving. All you need to do is pull the fabric on the hexagon down a bit or maneuver the whole thing into place. If you use glue to baste your hexagons this becomes a lot harder but with threaded basting it becomes second nature to just pull the whole hexagon towards the join. I will be doing a video shortly on solving such a problem so look out for it on May 3rd.

      @@juliethornton ok so I’m halfway through cutting fabric I’ve traced and cut them all by hand but I just had the fever to sew so I started it’s not as easy as it looks to just grab a few threads from each fabric and not the cardboard, lol. I have sewed 3 hexies it’s the small things in life I guess.
