I sadly didn't start collecting until Kingdom was near the end. But I immediately started collecting all I could find. This is the toyline that got me back into Transformers.
I remember my mind being absolutely blown away from the figure design differences between Power of the Primes and Seige. That line, and especially it's Optimus Prime, will always hold a special place in my heart
Siege is when I really got into collecting Transformers. I hated the battle damage and the nubs for blast effects though. After they removed that I've been good with everything since. I love the blast effects themselves, they should just only be for guns and jet ports. I've been picking up figures to replace my Siege/Earthrise figures as the molds get rereleased without the battle damage paint on them and without the nubs. I hope they keep the consistent aesthetic they've had with molds since Siege. The figures overall have looked great and have been what I've wanted out of Transformers figures. I like that I can finally have a collection that all looks like it goes together.
for me it really was how good the figures look compared to that we got in the previous line. i was a bit enchanted when i got that first wave of siege in my hands. amazing stuff. it even feels nostalgic to me now.
War for Cybertron is what got me back into Transformers, I won't lie. In fact, I went out and bought the WFC Optimus Prime Gamer Edition as my first Transformers figure immediately after I finished watching the series and playing the games.
Siege literally got me into the G1 Transformers designs, as I was a hardcore Bayverse fan and Studio Series collector before Siege, and this toyline finally convinced me that with necessary updates to modernize the original designs, the Transformers can look just as good if not better than the scrappy Bayverse designs.
Same here. Seeing gimmick free g1 styled toys after such a long time with great styling was so refreshing, coupled with the fact it had pretty much all the major characters in one go, made me go into g1 collecting. Studio series was fumbling a bit at the time and bumblebee movie really got me hyped for cybertronian g1 designs and siege filled that hole at the time perfectly. It couldn’t have came out at a better time.
@@jacliffh9221 This. People complain about the lack of gimmicks on the new figures all the time without stopping to think, what’s the point of a gimmick if the figure is built like a brick? Gimmicks limit a figure’s articulation, and personally I never liked them for that reason. I always preferred to have my figures look and feel dynamic rather than reliant on spring-loaded features or lights and sounds. That’s why I’m such a huge fan of modern Studio Series and Legacy toy lines.
Siege was awesome and honestly during siege onwards is where new iterations of the g1 designs really started to be a lot more accurate and better imo but I’ve always been a fan of some prior, btw doing well today? And stay cool and glad to see you a goat too💙😎you excited for new Studio series 86 ones?
@ I’m excited for ALL OF IT. Hatchet, Double Punch, Sentinel Prime, the 86 Constructicons, and others than I’m currently planning on buying. Also I’m actively looking for TF One Megatron and Legacy Quake and Slipstream to show up at my local stores soon.
My grandma bought me my first official Transformer at a now defunct (to my knowledge) pharmacy called Peoples. t was G1 Prowl 1985. I saw him and was just marveling over him and grandma said, “You want him?” Oh yeah!!! And we took him home. I miss those days. TF fans owe a lot to these little pharmacies…
It was about this time that my kids found my original G1 and G2 transformers in a box from when I was a kid. We got so into this line and transformers again in general that we now have close to 400. Only collecting the G1 lines like siege, earthrise and kingdom, SS86 etc. I still can’t quite get into the bayverse and new movie transformers
I do think Siege Jetfire as the first commander skewed people's perceptions of what a Commander could be he was big, thus people expected commanders to be big, thus when commanders weren't big (but made up for it with other stuff) people lost their minds
honestly I was and still am frustrated that after siege they moved right back to G1 earth designs, there were so many other characters who could have gotten awesome cybertronian alt modes, like can you imagine if we got the pre-Dino mode Dinobots?
Ah yes, Siege. I met a guy in late middle school during this. He got me back into Transformers action figures and fully into ones with G1 designs. It didn't take me long to discover Studio Series and here I am now putting these new Transformers Generation Selects lines over Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, and McFarlane Toys. I honestly don't mind the Sideswipe and Siege Seeker mold being reused a lot. Why fix something that isn't broken. But I could see why people are annoyed by the Siege Megatron mold being reused. Optimus Prime didn't get such a treatment in Legacy. I can't wait for the Studio Series 86 Megatron to go against the recent 86 Optimus Prime.
My thought is that the War for Cybertron Trilogy was created as a type of proving ground for G1 and Beast Wars Studio Series figures. For example, in SS86, we saw some of the War for Cybertron molds return such as the Kingdom Blaster, Kingdom Springer, Seige Prowl, etc. However, where needed, they invested into making figures for Studio Series that improved over the orginal figure, such as the SS86 Ultra Magnus, SS86 Ironhide, and SS86 Optimus Prime. When we get Studio Series Beast Wars figures (and we will. Eventually) we will be getting some of the Kingdom molds, however, other molds will be 100% unique for SSBW.
So as I returned to transformers during Legacy I looked back at siege and thought it was not great cause of the nothing modes and battle damage. But now, I cherish ever one I have from the line. Flawed yet all around perfect
I quite like Flywheels/Skytread, Apeface, Springer, Red Wing, Acid Storm, Ion Storm, Nova Storm, Hotlink, Ultra Magnus, Barricade, Chromia, and Soundblaster.
(According to my transformers collection's Siege category. Anything else either comes from the later lines (despite using some Siege molds), or from other lines (Legacy, studio series).)
@@NimSuedo To me, Siege Magnus and SS Magnus are two very different things. I think Siege Magnus is one of the best sculpts of the last 20 years. I have every variation of it (Kingdom, Nova Prime, Shattered Glass, Galaxy Upgrade Prime, even the Prime with the floating stand) and I love them all. I’m also someone who has an entire unit of shelves devoted to the Netflix WFC series, so there’s room for the Siege and SS/ER/K versions of everyone in my collection.
Probably the last Transformers toys with THEME from Cyberpunk stylized going back to earth mode again. I wish we had more Transformers with interesting theme like medieval, fantasy, steampunk, or samurai from Hasbro/Takara
Speak the gospel about that siege megatron. It is, by far the only mold that I actually hate. For 86 I hope they take inspiration from any other line. G1, animated, Power of the prime, Titans return. Anything but that siege
I LIKE YOUR VIDEO PLAIN AND SIMPLE BETTER TO UNDERSTAND AND FULL OF 411 I BEEN TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS TO MY GF WHO WONDERS WHY I HAVE SO MANY OF THE SAME CHARACTERS AND YOUR VIDEO CAME TO THE RESCUE.
The 35A Prime and Megatron pulled me back into collecting after 8-9 years off (those damn Power Core Combiners chased me away). It is IMO the last time the series has had a coherent theme. Earthrise had Snapdragon, Quintesson, Doubledealer, Allicon, and Scorponok mixed in. Kingdom was supposed to focus on the '86 film, but added the Beast Wars figures late. Legacy has been all over the map in its character selection and design (as is its intended goal). It helps that Siege had an expanded run, giving us a 5th wave that in part stole toys from Earthrise and Selects, where the pandemic-abbreviated run of Earthrise hurts its overall ranking. The figures themselves were generally really good. The Siege Seeker is one of my favorite molds ever. We're still milking Sideswipe. Prime was solid. Hound, Ironhide. I'll take Siege Megs over Earthrise any day. The weaponizers remain, IMO, the best realization of that gimmick. Jetfire is still may people's favorite Commander, and Omega Supreme gets my vote for best Titan even though as his G1 character and design are among my least favorite. I was also a big fan of blast effects. It is not a perfect line. They needed more variety in the battlemasters and the micromasters were generally poor. The cybertronian designs could have been more alien, and many people hated the way the battle damage was done. People complained about Soundwave being a voyager with extra junk. Magnus couldn't carry cars (not that I cared about that). Some figures were hard to find. In the end, I'd say its my favorite line since the start of the Prime Wars Trilogy. I don't know that I'd put it over G1, Beast Wars, Animated, Revenge of the Fallen, or Hunt for the Decepticons, but it is probably enough to say it belongs in that conversation.
I feel that the price hike in siege wasn't that bad compared to the uptick in quality, especially since we've seen further price hikes without any noticeable improvements in quality like compare a $15-$17 (US) potp deluxe to a $20 (us) siege deluxe, its obvious the siege deluxe is in a whole other league from potp
Hey man. Careful what you say about Apeface. Sure he isn't perfect but he's been my guy for over 30 years. I still have my original G1 Apeface. I got the Seige one and swapped heads with the Titan Master Apeface. His robot mode looks so much cooler with that head on top.
I didn’t get into siege because I too focus on studio series cause where im at they barely wanna stock on new figures which it was annoying but im slowly gathering siege figures i do have Optimus and sideswipe now im looking for siege or Netflix siege Megatron for a reasonable price no scalper prices…. “Cough, Cough…… EBay”
I started in 2023 and the figure I have the most are from siege it has to be my favorite line some I figures I like a lot are skytread, mirage, spinister, prowl, crosshairs, and siege astrotrain
Siege upped the quality but upped the price even more so. Then they dropped the quality and kept the higher prices... Some figures kept the good quality materials, but some dropped really bad.
Siege prime got outdared by ER optimus whaaaattt. You were cooking good before that man what happend 🫡. Siege prime destroys ER, SS86 is the best out the 3 tho still. Hey if you like ER thats cool, but saying outdated is wildddd. Still really good video

Strong disagree with you: Siege Optimus was the best g1 optimus until ss86 and co Redeco pronounced as reedikoe is delusional But no siege was amazing, got me back into tf
To this day I will never understand the hate for the battle damage. It makes the figures look so much more alive and feel like they are in a WAR (as the name of the trilogy suggests). Factory clean figures look so cheap and bland to me. The downgrade in quality from here on is crazy. Put any siege figure next to its ER counterpart and it’s like comparing a premium statue to a $5 bargain bin toy
WFC Siege Jetfire single-handedly got me back into collecting.
One of my proudest purchases. My holy grail.
I sadly didn't start collecting until Kingdom was near the end. But I immediately started collecting all I could find. This is the toyline that got me back into Transformers.

Titans had some really good G1 inspired figures
