This is what I prefer:
1:38 1:46 - V845
1:52 1:56 - V845
2:00 2:10 - V845
2:21 2:32 - V847A
2:41 2:57 - V847A
3:14 3:54 - V847A
Conclusion: I think I prefer the V847A slightly more, but wouldn't mind buying either one.
Friend, excelent video, in the name of all your viewers thank you for taking the time to make such a great video, very helpful
Glad it helps! Cheers!
Here's what I got out of it.
V845:
• Has a deeper, more bassy sound.
• Sounds more "round".
V847A:
• Sharper sound with a lot of treble.
• Some bass seems to be cut off.
So, in the end, it comes down to this:
If you want a rounder more bassy sound go for the V845.
If you want a sharper sound that works a bit better with OD/Disortion/Fuzz, get the V847A.
If you want a wah that sounds like shit, get a Crybaby.
Jammy not 857 but 847, right?
@@scoop6489 Im about to buy my first pedal, it being a wah. I want to know why crybaby are bad or how they compare. Thanks
arlen TGames To me personally, if you mod a crybaby it can sound good. A crybaby was sadly my only option at the time of getting it so I modified it.
Personally crybaby’s just sound awful to me. The highs are really harsh and it’s terrible with distortion.
Voxs are better in my opinion because they have a more original vintage type tone. And they work better with distortion imo.
Like most wahs out there, you can adjust the relative position of the rack and pinion to orient the range towards more treble or more bass. It's quite possible that these two pedals are set slightly different from each other in that respect.
You do know that Crybaby and Vox Wah were _originally_ the exact same pedal internally, right?
Great comparison. Thanks for doing this. My conclusion : both seem to work very well.
Dude....GREAT demo!! Great job all around!! I'll just go ahead and subscribe, why not?
Thank you so much! Glad the video helped!
On a circuitry level, it's literally a matter of two components, the 845 is missing q3 and c6 on the circuitry, add the right values to an 845 and you got an 847, likewise, remove those two on an 847 and you got an 845. c6 -104J capacitor and q3 -2N5089L TJ6 transistor
Thanks for the demo, I just subscribed!
Thank you! Glad the video helps!
thank you very much! I thought all Voxes sucked trebble, but now I see this improves a lot with the v847. Thanks!
Love your videos man
Nice review, Thank you !
Awesome review bruh 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I like your style of playing and I prefer the 745 sound, it's not harsh sounding at all but sometimes if you were more of a lead player than rhythm then I think the other one would cut through better for that scenario so I can see why this exists.
Thanks for the awesome video, I know what will be my first wah purchase and it won't be a cry baby😎
Dude excellent video!!!
Nice riffs dude
The best way to use a Wah pedal is to loosen the tension spring under the pedal so that it flops to the full treble position - that acts as a great resonant treble boost. When you want a wah, put your toe on the pedal's heel to work the pedal - that makes a great reverse wah sound - far better than the usual wah sound. You can also get a great resonant mid-range sound by turning the pedal on and putting a matchbook under the toe to back it off of the treble a bit.
Yep! To tweak it to it's full potential.. 👍
This is a great demonstration.
I think the 845 seems to hang more in the vocal range, whilst the 847 can be left on in any position like an e.q

do you think just with feel of the rocking mechanism
is it compareble to the crybaby
cus i like the sound of the vox better
847A all day! Vox is the best wah pedal out there and it's not even close.
I was preferring the 845 right up until you let rip on the distorted channel.. The extra treble from the 847 really cuts through and seems to drive the amp a touch more (like a treble booster).. Decision made, 847 it is for me..thanks for an awesome review and great playing

hello nice videos you make dude. Question What speakers are loaded in that amplifer?
Eminence Legend1218 & Tonker Speakers
Thanks for this. I have a Morely Power Wah, but it's just not doing it for me, probably because it's trying to be two birds at once. I've been looking at both of these. It's funny: I liked the signal alone with the V847A, but for all the actual playing, the V845 delivered a more pleasing sound, less harsh and brittle than the V847A. The difference is subtle, but it's there.
It works like a volume pedal as well?
I would love to know what original rocking bands you recommend from Malaysia, bet you play in a killer band, I jammed with a Malaysian guitarist two or three times here in Galway,Ireland and he was funky like Prince! Btw 🥁 are my thing, but I love messing with 🎸.
Hi bro, is the vox v856 better than the GCB95?
Now that i've heard this comparison, I like the sweep to brightness of the V845 better.. I bought the V847 but never use it cause i don't really like it's tone. And it also drops the volume-level when kicked in. They should add a adjustable 'Boost' function to it as some other brand models have..
Thank you so much for this. I just got hired by an R n B band, needed to rush out and order a wah, you gave me exactly the info I needed. Namaste and rock on, my brother.
I knew the wah did something to the tone when connected but why is that?
Now consider: you're listening to a hairy guitarist in a packed, sweaty bar playing a randomly-selected guitar and amp while people shout at each other all around you. You can't see the floor by his feet. Ask yourself: would you have a clue, or even care, what wha-wha pedal he's using?
Damn. You said it best
But when there's only a $20 difference between the pedals, might as well do a comparison to see which one you want
Its not about what the audience wants when comes to gear. It's about getting the gear that you the player like. If you like your sound then you're likely to play better.
@@aaronnovotny377 correct, being comfortable is important
Sadly, packed and sweaty clubs are a thing of the past.
Subbed
Thank you! Cheers!
hi, there is a noticeable drop of volume.
Out off subject, as your are in malaysia i believe you know Ceriatone AMP!!!
They are amazing!

At the circuit level, it's literally a matter of two components, the 845 circuit lacks q3 and c6, add the correct values to 845 and you get 847, similarly, remove these two to 847 and you get 845. I did not solder the parts, but installed pin connectors so that I could plug in and take out radio components as needed. These are the names of the parts : film capacitor c6 -104J(100v) and q3 transistor 2N5089 (analogs MPSA18). On the 845 and 847, you can still improve the wah-wah sound by replacing the film capacitor c5 (103 J) with a capacitor 153J. Video how to do it here ua-cam.com/video/Hx7CL29qDPA/v-deo.html
From Japan
Hi good test
I found the 845 pretty good with a standard telecaster with less top
It worked well and the bleed when off .rounded the the single coil highs .
Enabled all amp eq on 10
And tone / vol full up
On guitar...old school style. Horses for courses...
And £ 23 cheaper than the 847.
845 MORE RANGE OF BASS...
847 LOW CUT OF TREBLEE AND BASS
845 WIN :)
This is what is emulated on vox g2.
Nice video, i'm new on this and i don't understand what true bypass means, can anyone explain me please?
True bypass does not effect your signal chain in anyway when not in use ie bypasses the pedal
It means your guitar signal goes through the pedal without it being tonally "affected" by the circuit. While, the buffered pedals take your signal and, considering the signal degrades while passing through the circuit, it buffers it on its way out in order to keep its tonal integrity (but sometimes it means it's going to color your signal). Some people like buffered pedals better, so this shouldn't stop you from buying a buffered pedal.
V847 A for me
V487A- more high's and overtones up high. 👍🏻
Esmeulon - Legal !
.
1:38 Anyway of getting rid of this problem?
A buffer pedal
@@LAGM69 I already installed true bypass mod so it's okay now
Man, do I have to push the switch too hard? I just bought one and I’m having trouble turning it on/off with my foot
yes, i added a spacer to the top of the switch to fix that. hot glued it on, piece of old credit card
Does it work on a bass guitar though?
Personally I feel you will lose quite a bit of low end. I wouldnt recommend it. Best to go with the Crybaby Bass/ Crybaby Mini Bass/ Crybaby Geezer Butler Signature
4:00 song?
I dont think its any song
845 👍👍👍👍👍
V845 sounded like a Cry Baby GCB95 & V847A is a signature VOX high gain attacking wah. That's my opinion.
Thank you for this useful comparison video.
V847
845
847 or Wailer?? On a tight budget. Lol.😂
847
847
I see one for $40.00
wow it really sucks the tone. Maybe there's a bypass pedal that players use?
no ... not a quickie m8
Guys, the 847 has extra thingamajiggies!
your bricks are upside down
V845 sounds nicer
I think I agree
You should get that one. I bought one yesterday and it doesnt disappoint.
@@Killerlizzerd97 It has been just over 8 months since your comment... how is your Vox V845 doing now?
845 it's better than 847
It's a cuestión
Help me
Same pedal, just a different sweep. The 845 has a shorter sweep, more dynamic. Great for rhythm playing where you are just trying to get that “wahcachicka” sound. The 847 is in my opinion better for lead playing. It has a longer sweep, less treble loss. Great for Kirk Hammett style leads. Neither is bad or better. Just different flavors.
The V845 sounds sounds like a modern Cry Baby... Yuck.
Just get a vintage 70's Thomas Organ Cry Baby... Real deal wah. Modern wahs sound so thin and cold in comparison to the vintage ones. I've owned several vintage Thomas Organ Cry Babies and Vox V846s ... I've yet to find a modern wah with the warmth of the old ones.
