    Really enjoyed your playing at the end, not boring at all!

    Had both, returned the V487. It was too trebly and harsh from heel to toe sweep. The HW is much smoother. Great tone too. Many people say it sounds just like the vintage.

      Thanks for saying that, it reminded me of when I had a v847 and was my experiencing as well... Had Mike at MJM guitar fx make me a wah... He hand winds the inductors and a true killer crybaby clone

    Well done, sir! Thank you for sharing! Hard to pick just one, but the V846 does sound smoother.

      Thank you! That is how I feel also, it just seems a little bit smoother.

      @@GuitarMallen yes this and other vids convinced me to go with the 846hw, similar to what I'm seeking from flatwound strings, ibanez ar520 ,carvin vintage tube amp...have to do a bit of work to bring out the tone, but it stays sweet, no harshness.

    My Vox 847A was so trebly, so I roll a bit the pot to the bass side, and now is other animal, i can play The Crush Of Love of Joe Satriani or Vudú Child, IT IS A GREAT WHA PEDAL!!!

    Beautiful tone and playing Peter. Great demo too, I am considering between the vox 846 or a Vintage "Jen" Super Crybaby

      I would love to try that Crybaby you mentioned. I used to have the base level Crybaby years ago but I am not sure what happened to it. I don't remember what it sounded like but I would love to see a comparison of the Super Crybaby you mentioned and the V846.

    The v847a can be powered by a battery or just from a power supply?

    • @GuitarMallen
      @GuitarMallen  3 роки тому

      The v847a can be powered both by battery and 9v power supply. The v846HW is battery only.

    Only one hundred dollars difference? Here in Canada the V847 is $150 and the V846 Hand Wired is $400. Four…Hundred…bloody…dollars. I’d buy a HW in an instant for a hundred and ninety nine bucks.

    Great video. Which one would you choose for a SRV/Hendrix/Slash type sound?

      Good question, I think both are great for the artists you mentioned. As I have had more time with the 846 I am actually digging it a bit more for Stevie and Hendrix style wah sounds, again the 847 A is not bad for the price and can achieve those sounds as well.

    So is it worth extra 100 bucks?

    • @GuitarMallen

      Honestly I say probably not, I actually somewhat prefer the sound and range of the V847A but I like both of them. After having more time to play with the V846 I do like it and it's on my pedal board but I sort of wish it wasn't powered by a 9V battery only (I could modify it on my own but I am too lazy) and the wah range from toe to heel is slightly more subtle than the 847. This is just my opinion and hope it helps.

      Peter Mallen Thanks for the respond. I only know that circuit is completely same on both pedals. Is the build quality of 847 good enough?

    • @GuitarMallen
      @GuitarMallen  4 роки тому +1

      @@kirillprilepko394 unfortunately I am not sure on that, I haven't used the 847 in gig situations nor have I really inspected the internals of the pedal and I used to play many of gigs a year with my Morley Bad Horsie because I felt it was more durable for gigging situations. I tended to use the Vox for recording so the durability wasn't as important for me. I feel the V846 is a more solid pedal on the outside.

      Peter Mallen I enjoy playing Hendrix stuff. What would be better for me in terms of sound?
