Road 96 is a 2021 adventure role-playing video game set in mid-to-late 1996, within the fictional nation of Petria, an authoritarian country ruled by a harsh dictatorship, undergoing a potentially transformative election season. The player controls several teenagers as they attempt to flee the country through Petria's northern border via Road 96.

"I was shot by a taxi driver" is like Kevin's "I got hit by a car" for Road 96, it's traumatic and he brings it up a lot.
One is more traumatic than the other

I love that during the bus trip you were deliberately raising the tension but also shocked by the chaos. 😂 This is such a fun game, especially the way you play it.
Kevin my hero. I've played through this game in it's entirety multiple times and I always try to trigger Fanny but I can never manage to get her to discharge her gun.

For anyone thinking about buying this game because of Kev's playthroughs (like I did), you should know the music in this game is fantastic as well! It's a shame Kevin can't play it on his videos, because it's so well done.
It's just a shame that your choices don't have as big an impact in the game as the game leads you to believe.
Question, how many different endings can you have at the end? How much impact do you really have?
@@MANLIESTMANEVERthere's only three endings (and two of them are almost the same), but there's about 5 or 6 different ways your teen can escape at the end of each playthrough. the endgame is always the same though, which is a shame. your choices don't have much impact but it's still a fun game :)

I think the fun part of the game is more the different ways you can get to the end and not just the actual ending. I’ve played one play through till the very end with multiple kids and now I want to play again to see other parts that I missed before and to see how the characters react to me choosing different options. I also want to try to do one without any of the kids dying or getting arrested.
@@rachelcookie321 I'd just recommend playing the game for the music, characters and story, just enjoy the roadtrip and treat all that stuff as atmospheric world building. Don't go into it expecting a 'choice matters' game, just enjoy the journey - which is fitting for a road trip game.

16:48 I find it funny that Kevin doesn't recognize the cop's voice from the last event, even when she mentions she's a mother and he's been listening to her voice for like a minute in the phone booth.
Huh, i guess im as deaf as Kevin is cause i didnt picked up on that at all. Makes me wonder if their stories end up connecting beyond that. Does the player meet them together?
@@pedrovallefin8406 Yes, and also you can hear John yelling about how Mama Bear is a cop, too. She feels like such a random character but she connects to two other characters, just like S&M, Sonia and Jarod are a connected.
Not to mention the “precinct 22” greeting.

I dont know if he forgot about it or if he simply didnt connect the dots that if you call a taxi youre probably gonna be driven by that guy. Knowing Kevin, its probably both. Hell, maybe he even did it intencionally to see what happens, like with the bus scenario.
That and the fact he spins his head around everytime always gets me
Jarod is legitimately the scariest character in a video game, as he actually has depth but also such emotional instability. He reminds me of my BPD in many ways, just without the murder

His character also seemed prety terrified of the taxy guy. Weirdly enough, he was way more manageable when he cross paths with him outside his taxi. I guess having to work is was triggers him.
@@pedrovallefin8406 I choose to believe the taxi is possessed by the ghost of his daughter and so when he's in it she influences him to be more violent and vengeful.

My spouse and I just finished our first playthrough together, and it took us 11 teens to get there 😭 We felt so bad for the ones who died, lol

This game is actually amazing, and seeing your unique way to play it is super fun, I like how you space these episodes out instead of playing the whole game in one go, it makes it more enjoyable.
These playthroughs are always great. They did so well with the storylines and how it all seamlessly fits together. Can't wait for the next one. :)

Kevin, the icons next to the speech options mean different things: the raised fist increases Tyrak's vote, the ballot box increases Florres's vote, and the other one increases abstaining. It's just helpful to know if you're trying to achieve a certain outcome
I'm pretty sure that the raised fist is pro-revolution whereas the ballot box is pro-democracy? Like he got the fist icon when he filmed the protestor getting beaten.
@@davidmurray3542 Yeah, it's just that the revolutionary actions increase support for Tyrak because it turns people against the Brigades, that's what the truck driver John is trying to get at, and where him and Robert strongly disagreed. Whereas the moderate/pro-democracy/pro-Florres messages increase support for Florres because they promote peaceful but effective opposition to Tyrak
@@HonestlyBenjamin Well, its to be expected that Kevin wouldnt take that route. "Peaceful" and "effective" are certainly not words that anyone would use to describe him.
Ballot box is to support voting for Florres, fist is for revolution which still lead to Florres (at least for me) and the last one is basically I don’t care, I just want to get out no matter what; haven’t done that yet but assuming that leads to Tyrak staying in power.

You do have people to call! Each teen has a backstory. If you use the phone and call a number for 1 dollar, you get some tidbits of who they were before running!
