Forget the Baking Soda! The Most Effective and Robust Adhesive I Have Ever Seen
- With super glue and baking soda, you can firmly adhere many objects. Carbonate is known to provide a very strong adhesion. But if you want the adhesion to be even stronger, it may make more sense to use the graphite. You can easily make this mixture at home. You can make a more robust repair using the graphite. Fix anything broken. Watch this video to learn this repair trick.

This is why people collect so many IKEA pencils.
You might be right 🤣👍🏻
The amount of stuff I have been able to easily fix after first seeing this video is crazy. There's been times where I would have literally had to throw qeuipment out because small inexpensive parts broke and it was impossible to find replacements anywhere. This trick works wonders on a lot of things.
That is so good to hear I am please, I have a couple things made of plastic that's snapped up a couple of pieces of equipment I assume that was totally out of luck. I just bought some super glue and I'm filing down some graphite right now I'll tell you how it works out
@@annarock8966 oh my.... i assume it'd probably perform better w/o any adulterations, what is your souce plz?
fixed my headphones this way 150 dollar headphones i use at home alone my kiddo kicked them off my head and i really dont want to pay for new ones when they technically sork just fine still so i filled in the voids and built it up around the two pieces and then electrical tape over the top as a way to cinch it together since its elastic tightening ability for a tape is really good
Eu também gostei. Espetacular

Man. I just repaired my mini 2 arme with this mix. Thank u so much. I will leave your link in my video. 🙏🏻
Powdered bakelite plastic works amazingly well too... the result is hard and durable with amazing adhesion to metals...
And carcinogenic because it's full of asbestos. Only a fool would risk using it powdered.
Que buen dato, muchas gracias, exelente.
Hello, you are very smart. I like people who use their ingenuity to help others😊
I’m so glad I found your videos makes me think I can repair anything with super glue now

After watching your video, I repair my broken plastic luggage. Before, I was only using a super glue and it was still cracked. Thank you so much. Your idea helps me a lot, I don't have to buy a new luggage. 😊👍
Maybe if you weren't so Rough on your shit it might last longer . . . 😂 (that's a joke)
Baking soda & superglue worked as a temporary thumbnail. Replaced twice a week for 6 weeks, while a new nail grew in.
Amazing, I did exactly the same in the summer of 2021. 😆👍
I know the trick w/baking soda as I like to model airplanes, it is good for filling gaps or used as putty.
One major difference: It was just DRIPPED onto the baking soda. The nozzle was pushed INTO the graphite. The center of he baking soda wasnt saturated in the same fashion. Also, the drill is most definitely in reverse when drilling the graphite.
True. This is a biased video that is fake news.
putting the video at a speed of 0.25 you can see that the stick is turning in the direction of taking the waste to the top of the tool, so it seems that the direction of rotation was correct in the graphite. I suspect that fraffite, because it has carbon, facilitates covalent chemical bonds and would be stronger because of the bonding chemistry and not because of the hardness of the graphite powder. Someone gave a tip about crushing fiberglass wool and it could be that I got a lot stronger even if I mixed it because the glass powder is very hard
you saved me time, am about to say same thing , thank u . the most stupid person who think he is the smartest.
Well given a timelapse with framerate, the drill bit may give the illusion on directional change.

That's a nice lifehack))
Also, it is a good idea to create some parts, made of this polymer
A 3D printer using CA, graphite, baking soda, etc., instead of plastic floss, could make parts that are ready to use/on demand, rather than printing plastic models that need to then be remade with more durable materials. That'd be cool...
*In fairness you did apply most of the stress on the Baking Soda only side. I'm sure the graphite is amazing but fair is fair.* 🤔

@@mrebholz *Yes I know, I watched the video.*
Not a very scientific experiment. The control needed to be pure glue. On the individual and identical cut, separate pieces of plastic and be careful to exert the same kind and amount of pressure.
The graphite seems stronger and certainly worth the experiment.
Was thinking the same thing.
Does any of these works on fiberglass, and if so which is best ,I would like to join a broken fiberglass bumper, thanks in advance

Super handy

Excellent video!
This is the first video I have seen where pencil lead is used with super glue. For when I need a very strong union I will use pencil lead.
What if you want a very strong connection? Consider using a screen that overlaps the break on each side. Put some pencil lead on the screen and add a few drops of superglue. This keeps the patch smooth. Now you have a very strong connection.
Cheers!
Truly incredibe!
For information, lead in pencils is normally graded number first, letter second eg 6H (not H6!). Mid-range, everyday grade is HB. As an occasional artist I have very soft lead pencils of 9B, the softer ‘B’ range used more extensively by artists than the harder ‘H’ range.
We engineers only used the H grade - hard - for our drawings. Of course that was in the times long before computers. We depended on T - Squares and triangular rulers. 😉😉😉😉

Try with volcanic ash, the result gives a refractory qualitative characteristic, I use it for insulation in soldering irons and pyrographs, because it lacks conductivity.I am not minimizing your formula, it is simply that it seems "super" conductive to me due to the natural properties of graphene, I use it to repair control panels, generally of my ovens.
I REALLY don't recommend using ANY kind of superglue composite for "insulation in soldering irons" or other "refractory" uses. Cyanoacrylate fumes are outright nasty and no amount of reinforcement is gonna prevent that, not even volcanic ash.

Isn't it strange that graphite is not only an effective component in adhesion, but is also a very efficient lubricant at the same time?
Same
Actually it get even stranger when you think that graphite is basically the same 'ingredients' there are on diamonds.
@@girottos авжеж
@KeyStroke no because when you think of the structure of graphite it's made of large flat sheets of hexagonal carbon lattices which would lubricate between sliding surfaces or be bound tightly by an adhesive just like a carbon fiber tennis racquet both properties are enhanced by its molecular structure.
@@girottos are you sure about that? I thought diamonds were mostly carbon. similar to coal.

Really good Idea. I'm definitely going to have a go at repairing a project with this technique. Cheers mate 🇬🇧
Pencil "lead" is graphite and clay. The hardness number of a pencil lead increases as the clay content diminishes. A #2 is the highest graphic content generally available. in a writing pencil, but corresponds to H, the middle of the scale for hardness and was the softest that was used for mechanical drafting.
Is it the graphite or is it the clay from the pencil what makes the mixture hard?
I thought the HB was the softest one.

Impressive.. Although, it's probably best to use this method on a repair one can't see. Seeing as it can't be chiseled or sanded. Still, great educational DIY video.
Very interesting!
😊MERCI ...Voilà une astuce que marche VRAIMENT !!!
Cool, it would be harder with only graphite, one guy said that it takes a little longer to dry, still not much, being a good thing in x tasks. I have used many times epoxy and sometimes the bond is very weak.
Looks very much impressive, however the pencil graphite contains some sort of mineral oil, which might compromise the adhesive strength. I would recommend to use laser printer toner powder instead. The mixture will also be magnetic.
I respecfully disagree -pease watch entire video, there is a super glue graphite hack video where are he made a wrench and tightened a loose bolt‐ Amazing
@@thhomasmarks The result isn’t magnetic. Dependent on the % graphite content, the result will be conductive to a varying degree. The conductivity of graphite in epoxy, rather than with cyanoacrylate, is a property that is exploited for some uses.
Laser printer toner worth more than gold

Hi my friend, that was a good idea👍

Maravilhoso
graphite really strengthens the mix
SUPER MERCI!!!!
Backing soda is good catalist and filer, but carbon black can work in smaler amounts.
Its easiest made by cooling a flame of parafin candle whit metal plate or a spoon.
It reacts as fast as baking soda but in smaler amount needed.
You mean to use the black powder that forms on the spoon when you hold it over a flame? I've seen a video where a guy used ash, cigarette ash to be exact, and it works.
Teşekkürler
A Rockwell test would really show the hardness difference between the two. Would be interesting to see the numbers.
its ....hard , almost like carbonfibre
this type of glue is used in composites for at least 40years or more
earlier mostly made using epoxy with graphite powder
super strong
cure time for cyanoacrylate with graphite powder depend only of moisture content in graphite , more moisture faster cure time
for medium cyanoacrylate and super dry graphite it can cure for hours ...but when it get to room moisture...it will cure in 3-5mins
Would love to see the data.
What's a Rockwell test?

Gdzie kupujesz super klej w tych buteleczkach?
Far simpler to get yourself a bottle of graphite powder available from any hardware store or auto parts outlet. The only disadvantage I can see in using graphite powder instead of baking soda is the resulting BLACK colour of the adhesive which may de unsightly on some jobs.
I've heard somewhere else that using fine metal dust is even stronger than the graphite.
But is the clay in the pencil lead beneficial due to some type of added bondage?
@@blancodelaney9917 Pencil lead is usually graphite. Not sure what the graphite/clay ratio is in pencil lead. But graphite has much better tensile strength than clay. So graphite powder is most likely much better. Adding an aggregate to super glue will decrease the "bondage". It becomes less adhesive. But the superglue becomes a better building material when you add graphite.
@@FrendhDepend on the grade of the graphite. 12B is in theory pure graphite.. 12 H is pure clay. HB is more or less 50-50

Powdered graphite is readily available at the hardware store so what's the deal here? An emergency fix when you have a pencil and can't run to the store? Maybe a onetime fix and you don't want to buy a bottle of graphite? And, as others have asked, what else was mixed with the graphite?
A thumbs up shows that you achieved what you want, but more details please.
Otherwise, I suspect all you achieved was to show YT how smart you are.
I need to know what he mixed with the graphite too or video is useless. a lot of videos do this, or leave the ingredient up for a second instead of just leaving it there until the next ingredient. It's so aggravating, I unsubscribed from a bunch of repair, cooking and craft videos. The only reasons I can think of why he used a pencil, it was an emergency repair and store was closed, or they live in a poor country where they can barely afford food so can't buy graphite powder. The way America is going, that will be us soon too.
