  • In today's episode, I want to speak to my Enneagram Six friends about how they can thrive and flourish during this difficult season.
With a little self-awareness, Sixes are dutiful, witty, trustworthy, decisive, and self-reliant. Who doesn’t want that kind of person around when it feels like the planet’s wheels are about to come off?!
But when Loyalists lose self-awareness…oh dear…it’s not good.
So, whether you are an Enneagram Six yourself or you know a Six, watch this video for three things every Six should remember.

I don't think all 6s are news maniacs. 6s are a walking contradiction. I believe some 6s tune out of what is happening in the world on purpose because they know it will bum them out completely. Can anyone relate?

I certainly can! When I’m going through a hard period in my life, I prefer to stay away from the news to keep the bad thoughts and feelings at a minimum.

I can't do that because it causes me to feel defenceless....

Centering prayer and limiting the news is truly the smartest thing for us 6's. I would also highly recommend exercising if not already, as well as scheduled Zoom/Hangout/Facetime/etc time with family and friends. Even if our head's aren't absorbing everything that is going on around us, our bodies sure are responding by tensing up and our hearts separated from the people we love sure are telling us something is wrong or missing.

I love you guys! thanks for showing us your pretty mugs and for going through the trouble of all these costume changes! 😆But seriously, every episode is helpful - if I'm not that type, I know somebody who is. Compassion is the name of the CoronaGame, and this helps us be compassionate to each other. cheers!

I'm a Six under a great deal of stress -- was already in breakdown mode before all this came along, and have been in therapy for a couple of years, which is helping, but all this hit at a really bad time while we were digging into some deep stuff. My anxiety has been extreme for the last three weeks, but it's moderating now. I have a lot of trouble focusing on anything "mindful" when I'm in off-the-edge-of-the-cliff Fight/Flight/Freeze mode, which is where I've been living for much of the last three weeks. Just remembering to take deep breaths is hard enough.
But I do agree VERY much that getting out of the "situation room" is hugely important. That has helped me a ton. And I love that Sylvia Borstein quote. (I've seen it as "Sweetheart, you're afraid..." which works better for me.)
And yep, I can't control any of this, which I HATE WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING. But I'm controlling the hell out of what I can. (You should see my grocery/mail/package disinfecting setup! But now I'm stressing over not being able to get more Clorox wipes...)

Didn't know I was a 6 till minutes ago and then immediately had to look into what being a 6 meant. So... in 2020, I cut the cable and stopped watching the news. Good advice! : )

😂 I’m a 6 and was so focused on what you were saying that I didn’t even see Aiden until you pointed him out #stressed

Not a Buddhist, I don't mediate, but knitting works to help me refocus my mind.

If you know someone who has Headspace, they can gift new users a 14 day trial. Great webisode guys!

I'm disappointed. I was hoping to share this with my son but nothing about turning to Christ is mentioned here. The last thing he needs is someone pointing him toward the lies of Budda.

Can you take the good things that were said here, and then find Christian meditation apps, or a Christian prayer app like Abide and use that instead? I'm a Christian, and not thrilled with the Buddha mentions, but I know there are other similar options for those of us who prefer a more Christ-centered path. (And BTW, straight-up mindfulness meditation is not anti-Christian. It is just refocusing on things like breathing or relaxing your body. There are certainly Eastern-focused mindfulness meditations, but you don't have to use those.)
