    I admire your persistence in wanting to save this Punto GT after all the problems. Very happy that you are saving it though.

    Still probably worth getting hold of some body cuts from a non GT shell that's had an easier life to sort out that rot on the inner and upper rear arch tubs.

    I've been looking forward to this and it didn't disappoint, thanks Neil ☺️ Glad our deliberate collective reverse psychology worked on you too:
    Comment section - "too far gone, scrap it"
    Neil - "well I'll show them!".
    You're welcome 😉

    Good old Fiat. Structural paint and undersealed with pasta. Nothing has changed. In the early 80s I had a 1974 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe. It was one of the first cars to have a glued-in windscreen. One day I had to do an emergency stop. The car stopped okay but the screen kept going. I ran over it. The flange that the screen had been bonded to looked like a set of rotten teeth. I should have scrapped the car but I repaired it .... with oxy-acetylene welding in those days. It was such a nice driver. Best of luck!

    Like u I used to use etch on bare metal but I found epoxy primer is better especially as it's a sealant and doesn't absorb moisture like normal primers which means your shell can be left

    • @ItaliaAutos
      @ItaliaAutos  2 роки тому

      as ive still got all the welding to do i went with etch.

    Thought they were supposed to be galvanised? I had a 1993 Cinquecento and the brochure made great pains to say how well rust proofed they were. Thought Puntos would have been the same🤔
