Wow, it keeps surprising me just how much cars rust up there in the UK 😳. Here in Italy I never see rust on 1990s cars, let alone to such an astonishing level. I tip my hat to your dedication to saving a car that many would consider too far gone. Really enjoying this series, keep it up 👍
I agree. Even over here in Ireland cars don’t rust anything near like UK ones - yet somehow the manufacturer gets the blame as opposed to the crap Uk climate and salted roads 6 months a year…
hiya just subscribed to follow the restoration on this, youve got a right job on there fella.....i used to have a fiat uno back in the 90s, a 1987 D reg ( 999cc the fire engine). it was beige paid £150 for it with 2 months mot. when i took the rear bumper off there was a rust hole so big i could put my hands and arms into the boot it was all the way across the rear of the car, same with the front, i looked on the underside as the carpet was always soaked every time it rained and i went out in it and the floor pans were covered in holes & rust, (it was a twenty twenty car) ...it looked good from 20 feet away when you were doing 20 mph. it had all the power of three fully restrained children and it spent most of its time at the side of the road broken down or on a recovery truck. gave it to the scrap man in the end and realised why fiats abbreviation was "Fix It Again Tommorow". not touched one since..🤔😂🤣🤣. but its nice to see people restoring the classics and keeping them on the road 👍
Neil, please wear safety goggles when using that angle grinder. As a 66 year old and after my 3rd visit to A&E over the last decade to have metal removed from my eyeball, I hope you heed my advice! Great video as usual!
@Ralph Reilly Whatever you say! I was merely trying to help Neil and perhaps save him from incurring an injury. I have been using grinders since the Iron Age lol! Have a great day Ralph!
Neil, thanks for another great video. This Punto needs a lot of time, patience and effort in order to safeky get back on the road. Luckily, you have all the skills necessary to do a great job......I would think this sort of welding repair is something well beyond the average "weekend" mechanic, including me! Keep up the great work 👍🔥👍
Enjoyed that Nell. You have the patience of a saint.. Get summat for thi eyes when grinding tho pal, I wont have owt to get up early for on a Sunday morning if you get Punto'd😆
Worst think on car is rust. Because of that I like modern Renault(2002+) they have one of best rust protect body, on the other hand suspention and electronic are below average.
I have a 2000 Alfa GTV 3.0 24V which appears to have a overheating problem at higher RPM in the form of back pressure blowing water out of the expansion tank! No leaks are visible and under normal driving conditions doesn't overheat and runs at 90C all day long, heavy traffic and stopping and starting the water gauge runs approx 95C. Any suggestions as to why this may occur?
@@ItaliaAutos Hi Neil, thanks for your reply. I'm located in Cardiff, and don't know where you are in the country, but if it was possible I'd certainly like you to diagnose the cause. Follow your videos with great interest, keep up the good work 👍
Next project - How about taking a £1.5k GTV 916 with broken engine and converting to c. : 280bhp, 320 lb ft Electric with real 280 min miles range and 100kw charge rate....for min cost, with idea of setting up low production replication, say total £12k to incl basic refurb + PP - Now that would be a worthwhile ambition :)
@@ItaliaAutos I suggested to you putting a 20v Fiat turbo engine and tranny in some time back, mapped to c 330/330 with some suspension and brake work - all fits well More interesting? I have a silver 916 with red momo and blown engine,,,,, :)
Must be the rubbish metal they build Italian cars from. My 57 plate doblo has rust starting on it yet the 1994 Toyota preview I had before it didn't have any rust on it what so ever.

Thanks for sharing
You have to see german cars how they rust here...
That Punto genuinely terrifies me!!! 😂 Fair play Neil, really looking forward to future videos on the restoration. Brilliant work & brilliant channel
Scared the crap out of me too but I'm over that now. Just cracking on with it.

Yeah it's a challenge but also fun at the same time. Bad luck with yours.
Great work Neil....coming on really well 👏
Cheers.
Take my hat off to you mate! Lots of work to be done on the car, but well done so far!
Thanks. Hopefully another update soon
He has a lot of patience, good luck!
More than me ^^

@@ItaliaAutos Yep… after the last 2 years we should all be more aware of PPE and taking sensible precautions !
Mammoth task Neil. You are a very brave man and I hope the drive is as good as you remember/want when you get it finished.
It's been a huge job. I'm a lot further along now but still massive amounts to do
Excellent video thanks - gonna be amazing when it's done - rare if ever to see one on the roads now
Thanks. Super rare
Brilliant video Neil 👍 she'll look beautiful when she's finished
Thanks
Love how the car was rocking on the pallets 👍 but great job in there
Saved me £600 on a rotisserie those pallets. 😀

Another great video. Very interesting seeing all the work being put into the Punto 😁👍
Thanks again!
Great repair work. It looks brilliant
Many thanks!
I love it ! Keep doing this awesome job and amazing videos Neil 👍👍
Thanks a ton!
Some amount of work done 😎👍
So ,so much work.In the end, will be all worth it.
Only in near mint condition.

I always do but tend to forget when I hit record
I love fiats I have a new age Punto turbo and she's a blast 👊🏿💯😎
She? Did you just assume the gender of the Punto? :D
Love your video's keep em coming 👏
Tha ks for watching
Fair play for sticking with the red one that needs more work , but personally would of repaired the yellow one
But it's yellow lol
one hell of a labour of love neil, but it will be worth it
Worth it because you will pay 12 grand for the car, right? :D
not doing the resto for a profit if for my love of puntos.
Nice one Neil
Hey Italia Autos whats your plan with the punto gt turbo once its been restored?
Will it be for sale or would it be too hard to let go ?
It's for me to keep
Respect!
Thank God for seam sealer.😊
Hides all my ugly welds 😀👍
Its like Artex for cars🤣. my mum Artexed anything that didnt move back in the early nineties hides a multitude of sins she used to say😆

As an owner of a 2006 grande punto this stuff scares the crap out of me seeing so much rust on one
Newer puntos are much better.

Something I'd want to diagnose myselfe

Shocking I know. Tried looking on your channel for welding videos but coulnd see any. 👀;-)
