I often revisit areas of my apartment that I'm decluttering. I find that after a few months, I can more easily let go of things I wasn't ready to part with last time, whether sentimental or the "just in case" items. It's a really neat experience and I try not to get down on myself for having a hard time with "sentimental" items, because I know that eventually I can do it!
This is definitely a common trend I see with many of my decluttering course students and video viewers. I'm so happy it is working for you!
I really love hearing your rationale when deciding what items to pass on to others. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and post this video.
Thank you, Lois! I'm so glad it is helpful!
Thanks for the video, Sarah! I appreciate hearing your decision process and especially like no background music to really absorb what you’re saying. 😊
You are very welcome, Sherri! Thank you for your feedback!
I actually set a minor decluttering challenge for myself this week. I tried to fill a small box every day for 7 days. I’m on day 5 and so far so good. I just grabbed the box every day and picked an area of my home to take a look at. Then I actually drove the box directly to my local donation center (it’s only about a mile from my house.). That way I couldn’t procrastinate in donating.
I love this challenge idea, Alexa! Great work!
I love these kind of small challenges. They’re not overwhelming but still have great results. I think I will try this too as I have a donation centre very close to my home as well. The sooner I get it out of my home the better I feel. Thanks for sharing.
I love Office related videos and advice so thank you! ✨💫🇬🇧💖
You are so welcome! :)
Hi Sarah thanks for sharing your process on how you decide what to declutter and why. Right now RJ and I are working in our garage.
We are moving things around and decluttering. Big project.❤
Good luck on your garage! You've got this!
When I was a kid I used to love and collect those National Geographic magazines! I wonder what happened to them all lol
That's so cool, Mariela!
I liked hearing your reasons for letting things go. it made me think more about our bookshelf. Thank you.
Thank you, Kiya! I'm so happy you found it helpful!
Love your videos 😃
Thank you, Brianna! I am very happy to hear that!
It's funny how we look at the same things at different times from different perspectives. Thanks for processing on camera 👍
That is absolutely true, Sandra! I hope you are doing well!
10 items of clothing. I go through my closet and drawers and pick out 10 hings and let them go.
I love Japan! I went in 2004 for a month-long exchange. I want to go back so bad!
That sounds lovely!
@@AbundantlyMinimal it was!
Thanks for the ideas. I have given books away multiple times to people I knew. It seems books are something I accumulate over and over again. Would you point me to one of your videos that describes to where books may be donated? Do local libraries accept them, etc.? Thanks again for the video! 😀💖
I don't think I have a video that specifically addresses where books can go, but many donation centers take them, as well as places like schools, senior centers, and some libraries (probably depending on their selection and the type of books)! Some groups even repurpose books into different craft projects.
@@AbundantlyMinimal Thanks for the suggestions!
Throughout your previous de cluttering process and even with these items, have you tried eBay to see if someone wants them? I’m sure someone would like those vintage National Geographics - even if it was just for a small amount at least you’d know someone is using it
Absolutely! I actually have a view old videos explaining everything we sold! However, these days I'm pretty protective of my time and the energy it takes to sell something...those old magazines would have likely been listed in the $6 to $10 range...not worth my time!
Years ago I bought National Geographic 110 years on CD. It's very good and I don't have to have that many magazines around! :-)
That is what I have! It is incredible how much is available on those CDs!
Do you sell the old ones? Or do you give it all to a thriftstore?
Hi Joan! I look up to see how much an item is worth. Since selling an item requires time, effort, fees, and sometimes takes a long time before people buy it, I find it only worth my time to sell things that are at least worth $20.

I keep circling around and around in my brain the thought of keeping stuff because of a fantasy self or someone I think I ‘should’ or ‘might’ be....I think part of what is holding me back is I have let go of sooooooooooo much and my husband has not. I have things I keep but don’t use and yet he has a MASSIVE lego collection that he doesn’t do anything with but he doesn’t want to let it go. He is his own person so I haven’t told him to get rid of them or anything but I have spoken to him about how it bothers me that he has the lego and literally NEVER uses it. So he knows my feelings. It is difficult to articulate without it sounding like a comparison thing because it isn’t that. When I first started decluttering I got rid of SOOOOOOOO much (to the point of deprivation) and I have no regrets but knowing the ENTIRE area under my bed and half of the closet is full of unused things does bother me.
I completely understand. While you can't change your husband's habits or beliefs about what must be kept, as long as you get to a place you are happy with with your items, that is what matters.
