No matter what you’re eating in your food tier videos, I always love to watch them (especially the ones with Matt), because they are very entertaining.
As an Aussie, I thank you for this, not just for taking an interest in those around you and our culture, but for the way you presented it. Ads and all. On ya Cobber.
Your country is awesome! Definitely in my top 3 places to visit. I remember when I was a little kid in school, I did a presentation on Australia, and of course I thought it would be a fun idea to bring vegemite for everyone to eat. Of course, being Americans, we were dumb and didn't know how vegemite was supposed to be eaten, so I bet you could imagine how that went... We all took giant spoonfuls of it and ate it, and it was safe to say I never gave any more presentations after that.
As an Aussie, a friend of mine brought some from a visit to the US cause apparently hailed as the ‘ultimate stoner snack’ but nobody in the house thought they tasted good hahhahaha, corn syrup has a distinct taste that we aren’t used to in sweets.
I'm convinced our snacks in American are designed to only be liked by children. A few of them hold up, but most get worse with age. Cosmic Brownies are absolutely fire for children. They were honestly my favorite form of "Brownie" until I trued some again 2 years ago, and it was revolting, but the kids around me loved them. Honey Buns still taste ok, but don't hit nearly as much(you also feel like shit afterwards).
Most sugary snacks are like that, not just American. I used to love Bimbo products as a kid (Bimbo is a Mexican snack company) and most of their stuff was hella bomb as a kid.... until I grew up and realized how diabetic and nausea inducing most of their products are 😂
I feel the same. I would down a whole box of cosmic brownies years ago. Now that im 28 my body hates that I would take even one bite. I feel like the recipe changed too.
Loving the description of how to prepare cold milo, & the Americans learning that eating it out of the tin is also a time honoured Aussie tradition. Watching some of the older ads has taken me back to primary school too. This is a great vid.
Fun fact: if you put Twinkies in the freezer and let them freeze, they’re a million times better. Frozen Twinkies have a very similar texture to an ice cream sandwich
12:20 we have crackers called "chicken biskit". One of the best snacks ever made and I've never heard anyone talk about them other than people from the south eastern US.
The reason the guys might not have liked Vegemite as much was because it’s actually supposed to put together with butter on a slice of bread. Once you try that it’ll taste a lot better.

My work recently started to sell those Tim Tams... they marked the price up but we sold out within 3 days I was kinda shocked lmao, they even advertised them as "Australia's favorite snack"
The one charlie and Matt both gave a 10/10 from Aus was described exactly like Chicken in a Biskit. Which is very common in the south. basically a Ritz cracker with chicken flavored Ramen seasoning
Yeah we get chicken in a biskit here in AUS as well, and yes they are very similar to Chicken crimpy shapes. But chicken crimpys are the far superior of the two
I have to agree with charlie when he said we don't use enough artificial sweetner. Our food laws here in aus are so strict, "Fake food" is ultimately banned, leaving us with mostly bland and boring foods. Anything that used to be good has been changed to suit our food guidlines, ruining them.
I have always kinda wanted to try the American "Milky Way" and "3 Musketeers"; those bars seem to be roughly equivalent to the bars that we in Sweden call "Mars" and "Milky Way", respektively.
Sounded like Milo is like powdered Nesquik...if I'm remembering the right snack...but probably better because, you know, real chocolate. Funny thing is, I used to try & make my chocolate milk just as the Australians described...chocolate bits on top with gooey chocolate goodness at the bottom.
I’m glad they love Shapes as they’re basically the no 1 go to snack food here. I remember when I was young I preferred barbecue ones over everything but now I can acknowledge that Chicken Crimpy is the best flavour.
Lakers hat was just hating. His friend next to him is my favorite. Lol, super open minded to the snacks. Granted Charlie and Matt gave them snacks that were really only good/nostalgic good and were different in the 90’s-early 2000’s. Keep doing these tho! I love them
He can't help it. Literally every english, australian, and welsh person I have met act like this. They are assholes who think they are superior. Lakers hat would eat a whole box of twinkies but never tell anyone.
Yeah I hate it cause it just made the video worse cause when the Australians tried snacks halfway through the video I just started to skip them cause they were just shitting on the food and not even giving the reason why they don’t like it
Too sweet and artificial, just take that as the reason for the majority of them, and as someone that never tried American snacks, I can see that, that’s the consensus of everyone I’ve seen that tried them.
That reaction to pizza shapes was justified XD But yeah Vegemite is like caviar. Doesn't work the first time and you get used to it. But most Americans don't realize that we grow up eating it so we get used to how strong it is, an acquired taste. That being said it is one of if not the healthiest snacks in the world.

The comment about Hershey's is 100% my experience as an Aussie. Tastes like solidified regurgitated chocolate thickshake. That said, I'm not a fan of penutbutter; Let alone when put in anything else. Also, we have various versions of porkrinds here. They are fantastic when they are done right. One big difference regarding Australia and the US with sweetners; Australia predominantly uses cane sugar whereas the US uses Fructose corn syrup. I am an absolute fiend for Coca-Cola, which is bottled locally. They ship the syrup all round the world but the Sweetner and Water are sourced locally. So, here in Australia, our Coke uses cane Sugar. US Coke uses the Fructose Corn syrup. I can taste the difference...it literally makes it taste like Pepsi, but without the petroleum (Gasoline) aftertaste that Pepsi has. Old mate in the Lakers cap is totally being a right rude c*nt. US snack food isn't anywhere near as bad as he's making out. And Aussie Snack food isn't all great either. Most of it comes down to personal taste for both US & Aussie snacks. It's a travesty they didn't show Charles how Vegemite is supposed to be eatten...sparingly spread on bread or toast. And Timtams are better used as straws for coffee, not milk. Decent coffee, not McDonald's or starbucks coffee either. Aussies are notorious coffee snobs due to the massive influx of Italian and Greek immigrants we had. Ultimately the humble little coffee shop or cafe utterly dominated our country well before Starbucks arrived.
Honestly as a American i used to love some of these sweets and snacks that we have when i was a little kid but as i got older I grew to hate them, I can’t stomach the sweets here anymore but i still absolutely love the snack foods like potato chips.
It's disappointing how far Little Debbies and Hostess snacks have fallen in the last 20 years of recipe changes. They use to be sooo much better than they are now :(
it seems like so many companies have screwed over their products by changing the recipe to cheaper stuff and making the products worse just to add more money to their pockets, it's disgusting
A lot of these food companies cut corners once they have a stranglehold on the market. It's why soda manufacturers in the U.S. use high-fructose corn syrup instead of sugar cane. It's simply more profitable to use.

I think they brought them back recently.

Yesss! They werea literal shape!
As an aussie I can confirm Cherry ripes get better the more you try them, i used to hate them but now they're one of my favourite chocolate snacks
The original ones are legit. In NZ ours turned into jelly with no coconut, it was absolutely hideous.

I feel like the recipe changed too.
cosmic brownies are only good to kids that haven’t had real brownies
The thing with the Cosmic Brownies is they changed the recipe for no damn reason and it was just one ingredient they omited - honey.

I have to agree with charlie when he said we don't use enough artificial sweetner. Our food laws here in aus are so strict, "Fake food" is ultimately banned, leaving us with mostly bland and boring foods. Anything that used to be good has been changed to suit our food guidlines, ruining them.

But yeah Vegemite is like caviar. Doesn't work the first time and you get used to it. But most Americans don't realize that we grow up eating it so we get used to how strong it is, an acquired taste. That being said it is one of if not the healthiest snacks in the world.

You should know each different flavour has a different shape. Popular flavours are Pizza, Chicken Crimpy & BBQ
With the drinking milk through timtams, if you drink it with a hot chocolate or a few other warm milk drinks, the inside chocolate melts
